It's not the one I would recommend but it provides a satisfactory meal. I gotta point out first that it's kinda weird coming here after going to other Poke places particularly because you pay first and then make your bowl. That's kinda weird since other stores have premium options such as wild sockeye salmon, avocado, etc. It makes you go through the line and decide if you want the good stuff. Poke Shop has you pay first and then go through making it. I couldn't help but keep asking if stuff was free or not. With regards to food, it didn't felt like the other Poke locations I was going to. The quality of the ingredients felt different and in a worse way. For instance, the crab meat isn't actually scooped up like the stuff you would expect at a sushi restaurant. It's like those crab rolls dried up and diced into little bits which is pretty off-putting. The rice was also pretty mushy and underwhelming. Fish was fine overall but that's kinda difficult to make mistakes with. I gotta be honest, my favourite thing to have here was the guacamole. It's a serviceable Poke location to have a bite at. If you're in the Downtown area and have time, I would instead recommend you take the time and exercise to walk over to a better option instead.

I have emailed the HQ about it and there was no response Pretty disappointing with the staff and corporate/HQ. I guess I'll just go to other poke shops when the craving hits. For protein, I opted for spicy tuna and regular salmon, but regular tuna, prawns and a few vegetarian options were available too. At this point you choose one of three oil dressings. Next came a large selection of salad toppings including edamame, coleslaw, corn, fish roe, cilantro etc. This gets tossed with your choice of sauce combinations. I went with sira mayo, a ponzu and a shoyu dressing. With a new glove they massage the poke together to mix all the flavours and once added to the serving bowl, two sides get scooped on top. I went for salsa and crab, though next time I'd get seaweed instead as the salsa flavor competed with the poke more than complimented it. Finally on top comes the crispy bits, Sesame seeds, crispy onion and garlic. In hindsight, I'd ask for double the crispy as they don't last throughout the whole poke but I wish it did. All in all, I walked away with an impressive looking, absolutely delicious lunch that felt healthy and hearty. I'm getting hungry just remembering it! They won't disappoint, so go for it!

I made my own bowl, which is always a lot of fun. First time I've had quinoa as a base, but let's give it a go! I think I went for most of the items, except for the ones where you had to pay extra. The tuna I got was fresh, as were the other ingredients. I went wild on adding sauces at the end. I designed a great concoction. I didn't get a seat at 3pm on a Thursday, so I had to walk back to campus to eat it. A quick thing I learned the hard way, if you want quinoa, use a spoon. Overall, friendliest staff I've met on campus, delicious choices, and quick service.

We all loved having this as a lunch option because it's, well, relatively more nutritious and clean than say, burgers or fried Vietnamese spring rolls. So, my bro and I decided to give the SFU location a try and waiting in steady anticipation for our custom poke bowls. The food came relatively quickly and the portions are still quite generous but...the sauce department was lacking. We both felt like there wasn't enough flavour to the poke, and the plain white rice was starting to overtake the delicious toppings. Apparently this is a US chain that just opened up here. The app doesn't take Canadian phone numbers…read moreyet but they said they are working on it. You can still collect points by entering your phone number on the tablet before paying. This place is a little different as it mixes the poke with some mixins and sauces before putting it into the bowl. It's a little wasteful because each time they mix, they use a paper dish and throw it away after use. The scoops of poke are smaller than other places and they weigh each scoop. Around $22 for a 3 scoop bowl. They do put a lot of rice though. You are allowed to add 1 of each topping (imitation crab meat and it's spict version can count as separate toppings so you can get both). The bowl was quite heavy after. I couldn't really taste the spiciness or flavors of the spicy aioli or the triffle garlic aioli sauces so even after mixing with rice, it tasted a little dry. The parking nearby is all paid which is a big downside. The parking meter in the lot is set 5 min earlier so you get 5 min less parking. Minimum is 15 min (which is 10 min) for 50 cents.
