This spot is a little out of the way but there are no poke places in our neighbourhood. Came here…read morefor a quick bite in the afternoon. We tried the California dreamin bowl. It was fresh and delicious. Not too saucy. Not too many customers inside the store. The girl making our order was nice and helpful. We will be back! I want to try their "shoyu a good time" bowl with the ahi tuna next time.

Came here for their Grand Opening today. Steve was offering $6 poké bowls - how can you say no?…read more A decently sized restaurant beside Five Guys with plenty of free parking. As we entered there was already a looped line-up, scoping out the place while we waited - a fresh, bright, semi-nautical and modern atmosphere with a clean, simple feel. After about 25 minutes we got to the ordering area where we greeted with smiles and a nice welcome from the very own Steve of Steve's Poké! Super friendly guy and all the staff had good energy and smiles to make the ordering and wait worth it. We've been to his Central Surrey location (super nice staff too) and the Willowbrook Mall is coming soon but so happy this South Surrey location is now a 5 minute drive from me! Plenty of beautiful and very fresh ingredients with labels to make ordering easy. But even before you top your bowl, the rice is great - they use is a short grain and it has more of a chew/glutinous mouth feel to it. They have green salad as a base option as well. I topped my Large Poké Bowl with a scoop of Shoyu Salmon and Spicy Scallop. Good decent chunks of protein and flavoured well. Next I topped it off with beautiful toppings like seaweed salad, edamame, corn, red onion, imitation crab, and kimchi. You can add premium toppings for an extra fee like avocado, masago, tobiko, mango, etc. After you've created your bowl and pay, there's a little station for you to add your dressings for an extra kick of flavour - spicy mayo, ponzu, and sesame. The eating space can accommodate smaller and larger groups. And if you're not into making your own bowl, they have preset poké bowls so you don't have to think and they have their famous Steve's Traditional (Hawaiian) Poké Bowl - served island style. Overall, a really awesome addition to South Surrey - Welcome Steve's Poké Bar!

I think…read morethis is going to become one of my regulars if I want a bite to eat outside of sushi at or near the mall! I was always hesitant of Poke because I HATE sesame oil and the fish is usually pre doused in if, but it this place you literally chose every ingredient and sauce in it every step of the way, so when they asked about the sesame oil... NO THANK YOU :D I would relate this service as similar to the freshe bowls, except obviously more with an Asian twist based on ingredient selection. You choose your base, rice kale or spinach (or half and half which I chose), a protein (I chose salmon and ricotta cheese), base ingredients which they all mix with the protein (I chose edamame beans, chickpeas, pineapple, onions and massago - once they mixed all of this with the salmon and ricotta it was super yummy and creamy), and then finalize it with a few topings (imitation crab, pico de gallo, crispy onions and seeweed flakes). Finally I topped it all with some ponzu sauce which is like soy sauce but lighter and a little more citrusy. My bowl was to die for. So flavorful but still light and healthy. I got a small size which was still very big. The only down side is obviously the price, the small was around $11, but if you compare it to sushi with the amount you get and the quality it's not bad at all. My sushi usually comes to at least around $20 because fish seems to be very expensive these days haha. Highly recommend!!

We were craving poke and because of our friend's recommendation that the Aburi poke bowl ($21.65)…read morewas good, we decided to try it out! We ordered off Ubereats for takeout and it took over 60 minutes for the food to be made and delivered. It was a longer wait than what we were used to. We couldn't wait to dig in but when we opened up the boxes, we discovered that the bowls had a dollop of spicy looking reddish sauce on top. The picture on the menu didn't show any red sauce and the menu description didn't indicate that there would be any spice. None of us could handle spice well (yes we're weak I know hehe) so we were definitely feeling a little worried. The worries then turned to the burning sensation in our mouths as we took the first few bites. The fish had a nice flame seared taste and it looked like to be a pretty generous portion. It was just too bad because we couldn't eat or finish our food. A bit sad. Hopefully they'll be able to provide more accurate or detailed descriptions and pictures of their items in the future! I'd love to try the Aburi poke bowl again (and without the spice)!

I was surprised at 5 pm for pick up, three drivers couldn't wait and had to cancel because the restaurant didn't have the food prepared until 5:20 ish. Even the last driver had to wait for them to prepare it. Not sure if it is because they were too busy. I ended up getting my food delivered at 5:55 pm. Anyways, I ordered two Poke Aburi Club Bowl. I found the rice a bit too hard. Not sure if I got the rice at the bottom of the rice bowl or if it is because they didn't cook it properly. The portion size was ok. I got to choose 4 different proteins. I find that if you choose 4 scoops of different proteins vs 2 scoops of ahi and 2 scoops of salmon, you end up getting more protein if you order 4 completely different scoops. We also found the salmon not very fresh, it had a strange smell to it. I don't recommend getting the salmon here. The Ahi tuna was not bad. Because I ordered off of UberEats, two poke bowls came to $24.20 after taxes, delivery charges, service charges and tips. The price was really good. I don't think I can get poke bowl that cheap from anywhere else.
