Hole in the wall bar with delicious chicken wings and reasonable priced drinks... Great service from Claudia whom is always there welcoming you with huge smile and song.. or from middle aged white guy (don't know his name). Love grabbing a pitcher and watching the Dodgers or Laker games there. Now that i pointed out all the good... here goes the only problem. The owner/manager Marvin is so unprofessional and rude. He's typically found sitting on the patio (covid times) surrounded by 2-3 other guests drinking the night away, which later turns to him just simply being obnoxious and confrontational to the surrounding guests. If he isn't too drunk, he's instantly trying to find you a table and courteous. But catch him on a bad day or intoxicated, he's a total arrogant jerk yelling at his staff in front of everyone. If it wasn't for those wings, beer and that jukebox selection... he would of lost all his customers. Alright, so me and Pogos made up for our rocky relationship in the past :) I had a pretty salty review about a bartender who is no longer working here so I decided to rewrite something more fitting for our recent times. Heck, I can walk here w/ my eyes closed and on 1 toe if I wanted to, that's how friggin close I am :) I like that the prices are not a wallet bender like other bars in the area. A large pitcher is anywhere from $9-$12. Smaller pitchers are around the $5.00 range. Well drinks..I won't comment because I'm a beer kinda gal but from what I heard they're cheap too :) Food: I am genuinely in LOVE w/ their wings. My boyf hates that I need them at least once a week to be sane w/ my damn self. Music: If you're here anytime before 8..expect some sad ass music (usually country). I first reviewed this bar 5 years ago when we first moved to the area. Pogos has since underwent a makeover with new owners and it's a completely different bar now. I feel an edit is in order. They've raised their prices a tad however they have also elevated their beer selection and hired security which is nice. For me I consider this a very good thing. Keeps the bad people out and the good people in. Makes the couple bucks more spent on beer worth it I say. Besides that, their beer prices are still better than many other bars in the area. They have a food menu now so that's cool. Personally, I recommend the buffalo wings, extra crispy. They come in orders of 6 and 10. Perfect accompaniment to an ice cold beer. Pool is still 50 cents. That's always nice. Oh yes. And sports are good to go here now. Lots of flat screens. Nice. Only bad thing about this place is the size. For how popular this place is, it's so damn small. Fills up quick then it can become a little awkward as to where to stand and enjoy your beverage. It is what it is though. This bar has been standing for over 50 years. Not much they can do about size. My tip is to try to come a little early. If seats are full, stand and chill but keep an eye out for seats that open up. They usually do. read more

It's just a little further down on Saticoy (heading west from Hayvenhurst, NOT Woodley), at Louise. In any case, after my friend and I found this place, man-oh-man... it's a Dive Bar Champion, edging just on the border of a little too divey! Cash bar, kind of a biker/rocker/almost-redneck vibe. Just moved into the area and tried it out. Can't say anything positive about the guy behind the bar. Second time I was there I noticed a chipped and cracked glass I was drinking from and asked for another beer. The guy poured the same beer into a new glass. Normally it's a new beer in a new glass but this guy tried to cut some costs. Maybe this bar is struggling, however fuck safety, right! Also, you'll need to be a regular for this guy to get better service. Atmosphere is cool and diverse, but would more welcoming without the guy bartending. read more

I am going to start by reporting a COVID VIOLATION AT THIS ESTABLISHMENT. Our waitress was drunk didn't tend to our table and was bouncing around every other table taking shots so much that she brought our table the wrong check which was twice the amount we even ordered. I then followed her and had to CORRECT HER AT THE BAR. She then proceeded to say to my card was being declined until I mad her run my card again for the correct amount and of course it was approved BECAUSE SHE WAS RUNNING SOMEONE ELSES CARD ! The service here has went horribly down and when I called and asked for a manager immediately after I was told quote "there's really not a manager here but what's the problem" really a bar that's opened during COVID has NO MANAGER TO OVERSEE HIS BUSINESS. Makes sense judging by the service given or none given at all. dive bar??? I wish, Pogo's goes well beyond the status of dive bar and is more like a four-walled death vessel. People, old and young, go there to slowly die from cirrhosis, acute liver failure, or fights. I imagine that if conservative zealot's fear of socialized healthcare one day led to death panels, those death panels would seriously be called Pogo's. The beer is cheap, the well-drinks are cheap, the pool games are cheap. The crowd is just depressing though. It's a weird juxtaposition of infantile alcoholism and senior alcoholism. I looked around at the veteran, possibly Vietnam vets, drinkers and kept thinking if that would one day be me. That is my point, no where else would one think of shit like this except Pogo's. Normal dives are so full of life that you typically don't wonder about people around you and if you do it's for "other" reasons. Common questions that ran through my mind were "Hmmm... I wonder when that dude got outta prison?" or "How long has that guy been here, since noon? [being 10:00 p.m.]." I always come with friends, they always end up in some kinda fight or whatever, and I always wonder why they love that place. Another yelper wrote something about going there if you live around it and HAVE to drink. I agree. My buddies live around the area and HAVE to drink so they go to Pogo's. I LIKE to drink but don't live around the area so I try and avoid Pogo's as much as possible. One guy said to me when I told him I was going to Pogo's, "That's where people go to die." Everytime I've left drunk and with a bunch of funny stories to tell. The crowd here is always different. You have your hipsters( dress with pants so tight they can't bend over and have comb overs), your drunks ( old gandolf look alikes), usuals ( say hi to everyone they see), and newbies( you haha). Either way your in for a good night. Unless your one of those boring people that can't make fun out of any situation. If you are this bar is not for you! Go to Ventura and pay $8 a beer, while I get a pitcher at Pogos. This is one of those places where you'll never know what's going to happen. You might show up and there's some nice honeys ready to party. I'm not gonna lie.. When I'm reading Courtney's review of the bar, I'm laughing my ass off. Mostly because it's probably all true. Maybe it's because this is the way my old bar was described, but I wouldn't have worked there for 3 years if it was soo bad. This is not a bar I'd drive out to, because I dont live super close and I do like to drink. But if I'm at Needle Pushers getting inked or with someone who is, I will definitely come in for a cocktail or two. The jukebox is decent.. The bartenders are friendly. and the drinks are cheap. The pool tables, not soo good, but still good enough to play a few games on. The overall feel of the place is quite cozy. Of course I could have just been with good company. And what is a dive bar without the oldies but goodies who've probably been around as long as anyone could remember?? Sure all dive bars have issues with certain types of people, fights or drugs.. But can you really have an establishment with tons of testostore and booze and expect 100% peachiness all the time?? probably not, and if so, people probably wouldn't want to go in there. This was stop number three of my Saturday night of explorative drinking (I'm new to the valley). First off, the drinks are super cheap but cash only. My Jameson only cost $4 (you believe that ?!?!) but I ended up having to go across the street to get cash out of the atm ($2 fee, bummer). The place was super quiet but the people there were fairly nice. Reading other yelpers reviews, I was pretty much ready to be stabbed just walking into the place and I was almost disconcerted with how pleasant it all was. I ended up talking with the super hot chick serving my drink and it seems that this place is pretty much another hit-or-miss on Saturdays. My excuse is that Coachella is stealing the patrons on this particular night...
