Our house was flooded by a contractor, and we had to move all our belongings into storage PODs and gut the house. It was devastating. We had our belongings in 2 PODS on our property. One was a new looking metal/fiberglass POD. The other was old and made of wood. It looked like a giant wood crate wrapped in corrugated plastic. Both PODs were in the same area of our yard, right next to each other during construction. The junky wooden POD became infested with mice. When we went to unload it, our belongings were ruined. There was a mouse nest in our couch and loveseat. We lost thousands of dollars worth of stuff. The newer looking POD was fine. No mice. When I contacted PODs after they picked it up, they told me they couldn't see where mice could have possibly entered the POD, therefore they weren't responsible. When they picked the POD up it was loaded with mouse droppings. I suppose they think we opened the door and invited the mice in... made then some nice nests, and then invited them to destroy our remaining worldly possessions. It was a devastating loss on top of a devastating loss. They failed us big time. And customer service wasn't even kind or sorry, they were basically like, not our fault. Tough luck. I'd never recommend PODs, and at the very least, if they show up with a POD the looks like it was fished out of the Titanic, send it away. I would not recommend PODS unless it was your only option. the customer service after you get them is absolutely awful. I can't tell you how many calls I've made were they then mistakenly charged me several hundred dollars then I had to spend days fighting for it to be refuded. The overall cost is so much higher than a storage facility and I regret not going that route. We are emptying our last one but before I can close out my account they have been charging me insurance fees $54 multiple times over the last 2 months. so now I need to fight them to get what is about $300 extra back. when I call customer service I get no answers and quite frankly they are very rude. I'm currently in the process of a military move from Leavenworth, KS to Fayetteville, NC. I called a week ago to make the reservation for a container, and on the call was told that my dates were fine and would work for my schedule...drop at this house 05 June, pick up 11 June and drop at NC house 19 June. I call yesterday to confirm and am told pick up at the KS house is set for 26 June (11 days after I've moved out and started driving to NC) and drop off in NC won't be until 07 July (while I'm in GA for a school). The first rep didn't enter any dates other than the 05 June drop off, then the rep yesterday also failed to enter that I needed transportation from KS to NC on a scheduled timeline. I'm now waiting for a "Regional Manager" to review the case and set up a pickup from my KS house no later than the 15th...and I cannot reach any managers directly because, as I was told by today's representative, they only have cell phones (no office lines) and the reps need permission to give a manager's direct line to any customer...so basically, management wants to avoid talking to customers. This has been a very disappointing experience so far, and I'm still looking at the possibility of not having my belongings at my new house for nearly a month. All my belongings were placed in a POD on 1.31.22 in Chicago and destined for Los Angeles. PODS committed delivery for 2.14.22. Due to a glitch in PODS system our 'Gypsy Moth' form was not captured, to be clear this was PODS error. This took almost a WEEK for them to resolve with their IT which meant our container could not ship. They then gave us a 2.21.22 delivery date, this was confirmed multiple times and we spent hour talking to them on the phone regarding all this. Unfortunately this got much much worse. We called on 2.20.22 to verify what time we could access the container the following morning only to learn that it had NOT SHIPPED from Chicago. We called 4-5 times on that day and each time were hung up on (and have been hung up on each time since) and reps refused to connect us with a manager even though it was made clear this was an emergency due to the critical items in our container. No one provided answers or support, each said something different, each put us on hold then dropped the call. Every. Single. Time. I asked for a manager, for expedited delivery and for compensation. They said an 'escalation' person would call us but that never happened. We called back on 2.21.22 and again were refused when asked to verify our ship date and to speak to a manager. On 2.23.22 we called again and this time they claimed the escalation contact reached out to us by phone and email however WE HAD NO EMAIL OR MISSED CALLS. The rep claimed to be looking at the email but said they couldn't forward. I demanded to speak to a manager and they said they'd call within 72 hours and I said that wasn't acceptable I needed answers now. I was placed on hold and to no surprise was hung up on. Also I was charged $550 dollars on 2.23.22 and they could NOT explain that either. PODS basically stole my belongings, it has been 23 days and counting and I have been living out of what I packed in a backpack for work and personal events, sleeping on a floor and have had to delay visitors. PODS does not care and they PURPOSELY set policies to prevent being accountability. At no point has anyone above a service rep called and our calls are consistently hung on which guaranteed is an internal policy. My neighbor used PODS and PODS inconveniently and dangerously stationed the POD container to the immediate right of our apartment complex driveway, obscuring part of the driveway exit and everyone's view as they drove out the drive way. There were near accidents for many of my neighbors since this created a huge blind spot. I would suggest that PODs abide by parking regulations and respectfully station their containers a few feet from driveways. read more

This has been the WORST customer service experience of my life, extended over multiple weeks involving multiple phones calls, often lasting over an hour, speaking with multiple customer service representatives with each call, being routed repeatedly to different departments, explaining myself AGAIN, seeming to end up at a solution, only to follow up later and realize absolutely nothing has been done and starting YET AGAIN at square one. This includes having had a moving date scheduled, scheduling movers then getting a call the day before our scheduled move in and being canceled on without even offering alternatives. WTF! Like seriously, WTF?!?! Weeks later still no stuff, no option to schedule a date, or being given options, thinking things were going to happen, following up and once again NOPE! AAAAAAaRrRRrRRrRrggGggGggGgGgghhHHHHhHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Why are they even bothering recording the calls. Is it just to protect themselves in future lawsuits? Aren't these calls discoverable in a lawsuit? Will they conveniently be missing or erased then? It's certainly not to improve customer service. Or if it is then please take the hours of my recorded calls and study them. It has effectively become a part-time job to try to get my stuff to my home. The whole frickin' reason to pick PODS was for the ease of door to door service. NOTHING about this has been easy. This has been the absolute worst during an already stressful time. Please Beware. I urge you to explore other options before choosing PODS. The POD was delayed and did not arrive as scheduled. Not only did PODS not follow through with a timeline as scheduled, it caused a ripple effect of missed timelines which counted on the delivery of the POD. This caused a substantial monetary loss on my end. It addition, PODS mistakenly charged me a second delivery fee for the delivery of the POD. I am still in the process of obtaining a credit for that erroneous charge. Overall, it was a very poor experience that resulted in multiple problems. PODS has done little to nothing to rectify the situation. DO NOT USE PODS. 6/24/2022. I found their customer service horrible. I was quoted a price and that wasn't even close to what they actually charged! After they had my stuff, they suddenly didn't deliver to the new zip code. They were supposed to deliver 6/8/22. It took three calls to get them to follow through on their promise to make an exception (even though it was their error). Multiple more calls and chats to get delivery. Then they didn't show up when they said they would to drop it off. One of my containers didn't get delivered until weeks later. They didn't pick up the pod when they said they would. Then I got a text that they were coming and they didn't show up. I had to use the chat to get a pickup scheduled many days after they were supposed to show up (even though that was much later than they said they would). AND ALL OF THIS CHARGING ME MORE FEES FOR RENTING THE POD BECAUSE WE WERE KEEPING IT LONGER THAN EXPECTED WHEN THEY WOULDN"T SHOW UP WHEN THEY SAID THEY WOULD. Using a GPS tracker in the pod didn't help because they would say it was in one city or en route but that just wasn't true. Oh, and they leaked oil all over our new house's driveway. What's less than 0/5 stars? If you use them after reading this and get screwed over too then that's on you. Update 6/24: Trying to use the customer service team that responded below some reviews. Update 6/25: The pod is still in my driveway. I was assured they would be coming to pick up the empty container on Saturday between 8:30 and 11:30 am. Guess what? They didn't show. So I called customer service and told them I was upset at having to pay for more rental time when it wasn't my fault they didn't show up. I told them the entire story, was refunded part of the rental fee, tried to reschedule (again x4) and was disconnected. Instead of getting a call back, I had to call and tell the whole story all over to someone else. They offered $30 for my "inconvenience" and was told the day wasn't over and they still might show up or today (Monday) at the very least. Well, they still haven't showed up or even called today. I think they have just decided to abandon their property on my driveway. Update 6/27: They didn't call or show up again. I had to call again this morning to schedule for tomorrow. Corporate has contacted me about the stains in my driveway. Update 6/29: They didn't call or show up again. I had to call this afternoon to reschedule AGAIN. As usual, the customer service agent can't see what has been delivered or all the times it was scheduled for pickup. Next appointment is in 8 days. I complained and suddenly there is an appointment to have it picked up in 2 days. Customer service assures me it will be picked up this time. If you need to get ahold of me and don't know what I look like, I'll be the one not holding my breath. Update 7/1: Never got an email last night about the pickup scheduled for today. I didn't get a text message confirmation this morning. I didn't get a phone call confirming the time. You are supposed to get all of these. I received none of them. But who cares?!? The cursed pod evaporated like a fart in the wind. How did this miracle happen? As the ancient philosopher Vince Neil opined, "Girl, don't go away mad. Girl, just go away." Update 7/6: Turns out there was something to worry about with the POD retrieval. They dumped more oil/hydraulic fluid on our driveway when they picked it up. I notified the corporate office, but I still haven't heard back. I've given up hope that this will ever be made right. I thought it was just a local PODS office that had awful customer service. I might be wrong, but it doesn't look like it. I will never use PODS again and neither should you. I think with all the money we've spent they've had enough of a chance to make this debacle right. Do not use this service. We had a horrible experience that ended up costing thousands more than we were originally told. Turns out that they are notorious for not being up front with their fees. They did deliver the pod on time and pick it up at the correct time. They must've stored it safely, as it doesn't appear that anything was stolen. The only problem was transparency: Their customer service representative never mentioned the words "transit fee" and this phrase was nowhere on the initial written communications. We were only told of this $4000+ fee after the pod was loaded and in their storage facility. I spoke to a representative of theirs today, James, and he thanked me for my feedback, saying that they were working on training their customer service reps better, mentioning that he had heard this before, and agreeing to look into adding mention of a transit fee on all documented quotes in the future. My experience with PODs has been an absolute nightmare and I sincerely wish that I had opted for one of their many competitors. During the hurricane in Florida last month their call center was completely unavailable and thus we were not able to schedule the movement of our unit across the country. Given that they have so many facilities and are a company specializing in logistics I find it laughable that they have a single point of failure in their customer service process - it's not as if major hurricanes in Florida are even remotely unexpected! Beyond the negative experience during the hurricane the way they nickel-and-dime their customers is abhorrent. Every week new charges are materializing out of nowhere, and the original numbers quoted to me on the phone were inaccurate and misleading. At this point it would have been cheaper for me to hire a full service moving company. tl;dr: I recommend ANY other service over PODs. They will end up costing you a lot more than expected. I have only begun this process and will continue to document if the customer service gets any better. We are using PODS to move our stuff from across country. We were given a window of 0900-1100 today for a drop off time for our POD. Stayed home, no one showed up. I called the customer service number and spoke to Patricia, she was rude and condescending. No regard for my time sitting here waiting for them to arrive. Then I find out that my window had changed with no phone call, no email no nothing. The weight tickets were never uploaded into my account and it is now day 18 that I have been calling to get the copies. We moved exactly 1,850 across the country. We did some research and found PODS to be one of the cheapest & the concept of how their operation seemed fairly simple. After this experience with them, I will never use them again nor recommend them to anyone. My concern isnt so much the move itself. So far, that seems to be going ok. I don't normally write reviews but this was a horrible experience, making our moving process even more stressful, They recommended a moving company who damage a buffet server that costs $900 and who lied about how long the job took just so they don't have to refund us for the last hour but I have cameras on our house so we will get that resolved. Additionally PODS delivery window was 1pm-4pm, so my husband and I went out early that morning. They delivered the POD at 10:30am with my husbands car in a garage. Then tried to charge us a repositioning fee but the women could even tell what that would cost. So my husband had to access to his car for the week. Will never use PODS again. They withheld key information from me despite HOURS spent on the phone with customer service over more than a dozen calls attempting to confirm every aspect of my move. A few minutes before my loaded pod was to be delivered to my new address they called and said that they never do street delivery in my city. Literal minutes before arrival. I emailed a supervisor in the corporate office, which took a lot of time and research. I googled the CEO. I also left yelp reviews and Facebook reviews. I WAS SO LUCKY. Once I explained my grievances, someone did help me. I did receive forms to fill out, and they did reimburse me for the damages through an insurance company. THE ENTIRE experience before the move was so professional and the followup, in the beginning, was perfect. It's just that if you have damages, they need stronger training for the customer service on how to handle DAMAGES. I would use PODS again...even after this whole situation. PACKING- I DO NOT suggest moving your stuff in the middle of the winter...but if you have too, as i did, water damage is likely to happen. Keep the electronics and computers way UP at the top. The bottom of the POD, keep the more inexpensive things that you can do without. Keep all the best furniture and electronics at the top of the POD. read more

We have had nothing but problems with pods. their customer service is complete crap, they failed to give us any Customer service at any level. we call a number of times and only get rerouted to the same pre-recorded message over and over again. when we call and actually speak to a live person, after a good 30 minutes of waiting, the person is dumb as a stump, has the wrong information for us, and is completely clueless as to where our POD is or when it will be delivered. we definitely do not recommend pods to any other living human being. I was looking to move from Las Vegas to outside of Cleveland and I initially found PODS to be a fantastic resource to move. They dropped the POD off, you fill it up, they pick it up and deliver it to your destination. Upon booking, they said my items were insured up to a certain amount. I was thinking, great this will work out well if anything breaks in transit. Well guess what... A LOT was damaged in transit! My couch got scratched up, tv stand damaged, treadmill ruined, book case damaged, bar stool damaged. So needless to say I put in a claim. Well.... It was denied. I went back and forth with them and they claimed that it was the movers responsibility in Vegas. I called them and they wouldn't take the claim either, nor do I blame them. I watched the movers and they did a great job. They really took the time to cover and wrap everything and strategically place things in the POD. So I leave you with this... If you think your items are insured with your POD, they are not so use it at your own risk. If you're items get damaged in transit, you're screwed! Also, when booking be sure to say their initial price is too high and they will go down a couple hundred dollars for you. read more

Monthly invoice doesn't even have a statement about prorating. Invoice showed CC charged on the 20th, 2 days later they picked up the POD. Saw my invoice not adjusted for the 28 days they have it. I've recently decided to start my reviews with five stars, then delete/add as needed. I start with five starts because I believe small business's are the creators in our world - they create a way for most of us to survive economically, they generate tax revenue, and they give some of us a sense of purpose & meaning in life. 1. The past three times I've called PODS, I've waited on hold for over 15 minutes (today's wait was 22 minutes). In my opinion, this is unacceptable and very poor customer service (minus 1 star). 2. When my pod was delivered to our storage facility in Georgia, my wife and I had to wait at the storage facility for 3-1/3 hours for POD delivery (I was not told when I originally booked a POD that there's a 3-hour delivery window. What I was told is that we would be contacted the day before with a time for delivery). Again, (IMO), this is unacceptable and very poor customer service. It seems to me that if you're delivering a POD to a storage facility for loading and/or unloading - you narrow the delivery time window to an hour max (minus 1 star). 3. PODS never notified us our pod had been delivered to Los Angeles. I had to call them (and experience an unacceptable wait time) to find-out our POD had indeed arrived (minus 1 star). 4. I called the Los Angeles facility where our POD was being stored and asked if I could get something out of it. We showed-up the next day and the POD had been moved to the secured parking lot. When we opened it, we found nothing had moved - it was exactly as I left it in Georgia. Great job!! (plus two stars - 'cause this is the most important reason we hired PODS). 5. I called today to ask if the delivery window for our POD to our storage facility could be around 9a - and if the window could be narrowed (we live 4 hours from the storage facility - we're trying to prevent a 3+ hour repeat of our loading experience). I was told: (a) The facility in Los Angeles doesn't do morning deliveries; and, (b) the window will still be 3 hours (minus 2 stars). The good news is our "stuff" was in excellent shape after being transported across the country. But, in my experience, PODS is customer-unfriendly. They operate for the maximum convenience of their operation - at the expense of their customers. Needless to say (from a personal convenience standpoint, my first experience with PODS has been a very unpleasant one. Thank you for the courtesy of your time and consideration. Glenn Goryl UPDATE: Well, our PODS experience is finally over. Our pod was to be delivered to our storage facility on Tuesday, April 26. We drove five (5) hours from our temp home in Morro Bay to our storage facility in LA. We were literally pulling into the storage facility when the phone rang and we were informed their forklift was broken and our POD could not be delivered that day. My wife and I took a day off work (combined, we lost over $1,000). We drove a total of over 400 miles ($214 @ 53-1/2 cents/mi). Our original contract stated we had to have our POD emptied by Wed, the 26th. (Another "lost star" for PODS is their insistence on automatic withdrawals). We came back down on Thursday, the 27 - and were charged $303 for another month's POD rental. This is the WORST company I've done business with so far in 2017. NEVER, NEVER AGAIN!! read more

DO NOT USE PODS!! We used PODS for a job transfer from Florida to Texas. They took our money and picked up all of our possessions at the agreed upon time and location. You should STRONGLY consider not spending your hard earned money with these criminals. For the following we complied with the instructions given to us by PODS: After waiting the (roughly) 2 weeks for them to ship it we called to confirm the exact time of day the delivery would be made the day before the scheduled delivery time. At this time we found out that they had misplaced our PODS container. After locating our PODS container they admitted that a clerical error on their end caused them to misplace (without their own knowledge) our PODS container until we called to schedule the delivery. At that juncture they BEGAN the shipping process and our PODS container arrived 10 business days later. As 100% of all my professional clothes were in the PODS container that I paid over $2000 to have shipped I was forced to purchase an entire new professional wardrobe. When asking PODS to help rectify the situation we were told "We acknowledge your claim that the order was scheduled to arrive but establishment forgot to schedule. Be advised that establishment makes no assurance or guarantee regarding time of pick up or delivery of any unit." They did not refund us one penny. They did not help with the cost of an entire new professional wardrobe. They assured us it would be there on the agreed upon date, they lost our container, and they could not care less. This is a terrible company and I will never use them again. You should STRONGLY consider not spending your hard earned money with these criminals. read more

Beware, and shop around. Called several places and got quotes. PODS was, by far. the most expensive. Almost double what i ended up paying with PACKRAT Two PODS across country quote was over $9000, more then a moving service. Call around. read more

Absolute garbage - I rented a container, which they dropped off as agreed. The problems started with the RAIN on day two. The pod leaks big time! All over the stuff inside! From a giant hole in the plastic roof. And the rot on the floor tells me this particular POD didn't just start leaking. I try to contact PODS - mistakenly believing they would do something. Nope! Wow - this is a horrible service featuring defective equipment sold and marketed by a company that could care less. Awful. read more

i recently received a notice of a price increase on my storage from $248 to $278. i accept that. i later called for a quote oon transit cost from l.a. to sacramento. as a result of that call, i was charged an additional $20.64, and later my cost went from $278 to $319! i have called everyday for a 2 weeks and no one can help me or reimburse me for the over charge! no one!! also, they changed my auto bill date from 25th of month to 18th (i don't get paid until 20th)! no one?!! no one at a major corporation can correct an error they caused! i am done and will never do business with pods again and will tell everyone! disgusting service, thieves!!!! dont use pods!! also, they lie when they say you may have access to your container with a 24 hour notice..not true! i was given every escuse in the world, including the facility is closed on wednesdays and thursdays! it took three days to get access! also, customer service reps hung up on me twice! i didnt curse or yell but i was mad...i did nothing to warrant that action! this situation has caused me major distress. just shameful! DO NOT USE PODS! I WANTED TO BE TAKEN OFF AUTO PAY, BECAUSE I DONT WANT TO KEEP BEING OVERCHARGED. NOW THEY CLAIM I ONLY CAN DO AUTO PAY...NO CHOICE?!!!!! Thank you to customer service for responding to this review. It is only fair that I update based on my experience working with the customer service team. They escalated my claim and reviewed the recording. It seems I misunderstood what I was being told. Since I live in NYC, I pay for a city service which is an extra fee. When the agent gave me the price for city service, I thought it was the entire price including city service and did not realize that it was an EXTRA $500+. I do wish that PODS didnt wait until I left a review to contact me an resolve this as they started looking into this on May 23rd and I did not get a resolution until June 1st, the day before I had to move my belongings from the facility to not incur a $169 + insurance charge. Pros: The calls are recorded and customer service did review the call to clarify things The guys that work at the queens storage are friendly and easy going Cons: It took almost 2 weeks to look into this and the short notice of a resolution with not much courtesy was annoying I stood on hold for upwards of 30 minutes every time I called to ask a question because the internet has limited information I had to hold just told schedule visiting my container but when arriving to the facility, the folks there didn't seem to be expecting anyone I wouldn't consider it safe. Ive never showed ID yet I was able to walk up to my container and clip the lock I had a different moving company pick up my belongings and the truck driver arrived before me, they told him where my container was and he was there waiting for me when I arrived. That creeped me out... All in all - would I do PODS again? It's not a hard no but most likely not. read more
