Just left this facility feeling very unsafe and upset. Tracy and Karen were rude and unprofessional. Staff didnt seem interested in answering any questions, addressing where to park, or taking any care of the facility. Homeless everywhere seeming to be entering the facility and testing doors. We used this storage facility for almost a year while on a cross-country road trip, and Tract's customer service was excellent from beginning to end. He made both the move-in and the move-out process easy and even refunded us the last month as we were moving out right around the time it was time to renew. On top of that, the storage facility is clean and easily accessible. This was not the first time we have used a storage facility but definitely our best experience so far. My father passed away and they have been so helpful, making sure I got them all the right paperwork and just being overall kind during this tough situation of cleaning out. The staff at this facility seem to think that the best thing to do when a stray dog (a ten month old puppy, in fact) wanders onto the property is to hit her repeatedly with brooms, forcing her under parked cars in an attempt to make her leave. Despite the property being fenced in. Seeing first hand how the staff handled the situation, I would never do business at this place and would ask the corporate office to address ethical issues with regard to shooing animals away. Claiming that it was thought the underweight, submissive and scared puppy might have had rabies, which she obviously did NOT, as an excuse for striking her with brooms is abhorrent. Staff is very rude! They rarely answer the phone and when they actually do answer the phone, they are very unprofessional! The person who answered the phone told me that he was on his lunch break and then he said a bunch of other stuff that I could not understand because he was far away from the phone possibly had me on speaker, and when I told him I cannot hear him he hung up on me. When I called back he once again told me that he was on his lunch break and I had to call back within 15 to 20 minutes. No apology or anything, this is very strange to me, like was there no one there to relieve him for his lunch break? If you're going to have one employee in office then the least you could do is send calls to an answering service that tells us that the office is on lunch. I just find it very strange that he had to answer the phone and tell me he was on lunch and that I had to call back later. Aside from the lack of professionalism though, he was just very rude and I KNOW for a fact that he hung up on me the first time. Anyhow, definitely not my favorite location. read more

This extra space location has always been clean and well priced. lighting is good and bathroom always clean. In some concerns with the rear door not always be closed or function properly but overall security is excellent. Especially for the upper floors where takes a key code to get up the elevator! The new manager Troy is excellent. personable and always on the go. he is constantly cleaning, checking with the customers, and always has an excellent attitude. he acts like he owns the business with a high level of concern. I've been writing here for over 2 years. I can highly recommend the place. additionally it is easy to get to because it is write off the freeway and just on the other side of the freeway are lots of places for food, target, Home Depot and many other stores. read more

Pros: This facility has been clean on the days that I have visited. The staff has been friendly and helpful when I have approached them.Security seem to be good so far. Codes are required to enter, depart and use the elevator if you are on an upper level. AAA discount available. Cons:There has been a shortage of hand trucks on occasion when I required them. They increased my storage fee after only 4 months and I was not advised of it when signing my contract. I choose this location because it was NOT expensive, it would have been nice to have know in advance as I might have chosen a closer facility. There is no access after 8pm. read more

Upon signing up they don't tell you about the increase rate, however, within 6 months my monthly increase from $120 to $136! I called to complain and was told it was company policy and nothing can be done, that they don't expect their clients to be there over a year, only about 2-months the most. Really? Wow. Big time bait and switch. I signed up for a 10 x 5 unit at $59/month, and upon asking, was assured that the rates would not go up very often or by very much. I was going to look at my records for specifics, but rather than take the time, here's the big picture: Over three years of increases an average of eight months, $59 became $95. Every time it went up I called to complain and was told it was company policy and there was nothing to be done about it. I finally moved my stuff out yesterday. read more

The facility is well lit, the staff is friendly and the building is very clean. That's the good news. The bad news is they raise the monthy rates on a regular basis. If you complain about this their standard answer is, "We're sorry but there's nothing we can do about this because it's company policy." They don't expect anyone to stay past a couple of months and this is supposedly justification for constant rent increases. I got my 15'×10' unit in June 2017 for $170. In August 2017 the rent went up to $195. And July of 2018 it went up to $222. That's a $52 increase in 14 months. If I received some type of benefit such as longer gate operation hours or if the office was open on Sunday or something like that then I could understand the rent increase. But none of that is happening. It's like I'm being screwed and don't even get a reach around. It's time to search the internet for a storage place that will guarantee a flat rate for the rent, pack my stuff and get the hell out of Dodge. If you're going to rent for only a couple of months this place will be fine. If you plan on renting storage for longer than that, I highly recommend you find some other place to go. The Manager tried all he could however the dragon lady Michelle the district manager wasn't going to budge even though ive been a 6 year customer. I rented a unit for seven years for my personal and business use. My business is Teddy Bear Tea Parties. I am accountable for a lot of smiles and happiness since we are responsible for stuffing teddy bears for Children's Hospital Orange County, Teddy bear Cancer Foundation, UCLA Children's Hospital, St. Judes Children's Hospital, Make a Wish Foundation, and Dancers against Cancer. I built that business from scratch in 1999. I started with one 10,000 teddy bear machine. As the years went on we continued to grow until we grew to three stuffing machines rolling to local hospitals, hotels, schools and birthday parties - thousands of parties. Because the cancer kid's skin is hyper sensitive we manufactured the stuffed animals only with special fabric and fiber. After they stuff their bears, they get a special birth certificate. We give them flowing gowns for them to wear to the most glamour tea parties. With sparkling glitter table settings, chandeliers and long gloves. We gave these kids a purpose to live. At Extra Space, over $100,000 worth of my stored property was sold for $200. I literally almost fainted! - $135,000 of my personal property was GONE including all of my financial statements, vendor contacts and my relatives' remains. All of my inventory of family photos including wedding albums from as early as 1880, computers, all of my great grandmother's jewelry and the antiques from her home, trophies, dance costumes, two genuine Tiffany lamps and the list goes on and on. ALL GONE. In any case, my storage unit is scheduled to go on the auction block in two days, sadly giving my circumstances as a homeless person I don't have a working phone however I do have a voicemail, being homeless has its challenges like locating a place to plug in your phone. Shortly after I fell behind in my payments. I owed Extra Space about $700 which includes late and lien fees. Everything I have to my name besides my non opp car is in that storage unit. I received a check from a client about two hours before auction, I quickly deposited it and was waiting for the bank to take the hold off the check. I contacted the office to inform the manager to ask them to hold off the sale until the hold is released off my card. Even though the office did his best to convince Michelle to give us a little time, this company refused to work with me despite my efforts to show that I am trying and WANT to pay my storage fees. Michelle wanted 50% to set the auction aside. I explained the bank put a hold on the check for 2 hours and they would have to manually release the hold. She refused. Something has got to be done! This new "vulture" industry of scavenging other people's possessions is pathetic. Instead of getting a " JOB with integrity". these storage unit owners are picking the bones of people who are doing nothing more than getting behind in their payments, having issues making a payment or other reasons for what is happening. The buyers of these units should: #1 - Every state should adopt laws and regulations for this industry as to the proper procedure taken when the consumer falls delinquent, on a mortgage or rental, as well as their responsibilities for returning any personal effects that should be decided upon by state law makers. #2 - Special offers, such as Extra Space for the first month" special should be disallowed. A majority of people who have to store all of their possessions in a storage unit do so because they are often forced into a situation where they have either lost their living accommodations, their homes have been foreclosed on, they have lost their jobs or for a number of reasons. Because of these situations their finances are extremely limited and are easily "lured" into special deals like your free move in special. Other similar businesses like the rental and leasing companies offer deals using a free month incentive, but at the end of the lease, such as with it being used as the 12th month. I had a very pleasant experience at the Extra Space Storage on Stanley St. in the city of Compton. Troy Milbrodt the store manager assisted me on that Saturday afternoon. I arrived at 5:28pm and they close at 5:30pm. Troy didn't blink twice he took care of me above and beyond. He made sure I had the correct size unit and showed it to me as well.
