No reviews. Looks like it's been in business for a while. Very strange. Poco Loco Supermercado is not what I expected. Like I said in other reviews, I am very new to Austin. So when the wife and I where looking for a new home, I kept seeing this supermarket from the road. I had to go and shop at Poco Loco Supermercado. Big mistake. I am from NYC and love a good Spanish supermarket. Latin markets carry items that local markets do not. Produce, can items, cuts of meat are just a few things a Spanish market are different. While Poco Loco Supermercado carried these items, I have concerns. On this Saturday afternoon around 5 or 6 pm this place was empty. I felt like I was in a scene of zombieland. Most supermarkets are packed at this time. Only saw a couple of other shoppers. Very strange. I also got the feeling that this place was running another business. It had the characteristics. People walking in and then you don't see them. I guess I have been to too many dicey establishments, lol. Produce was weak. Spotty in color and freshness. Meat market was huge. Lots of product. The beef was bright red. The chicken was spotty and grey. Bakery seem not fresh. Pricing seem high across the board. Better statement would be, I did not see value. Poco Loco Supermercado had a food stall. When you walk in it is on the left side. I wanted to order something, but no menu or price list. I wanted to know what did you have to offer for x dollars. Very strange. The final straw, girl at lottery counter. Major attitude and rude. Wanted to purchase some Powerball and got the look, the head weave, the smirk, the silence, etc. She made my day by making me laugh on my way to dinner. Overall, Poco Loco Supermercado you will never see me again....

Roaches crawling at the checkout desk. Come at your own risk. I still paid for my tacos... but a little grossed out.

Dirty. Point blank period. Roaches out in the open by the meat counter, meats going grey and fruits and veggies covered in nats.

I like their marinated meats and also the fact that they stock other useful things (why can't I buy dishrags at HEB???).

The produce guy asked me to speak Spanish since it seemed that was what he spoke. The cashiers spoke English ianf Spanish.I was specifically looking for aji dulce peppers , and fresh ciulantro( not cilantro) . I had wanted to make an authentic Sofrita, .these peppers I'm not familiar with but trying to make an authentic Sofrita without substitutions of other available peppers. . When I went in, I grabbed one cart it was stuck in another cart, went on to another cart ... same thing. So finally wrestled a cart free and the wheels are all jacked up veering me off to the left... ugh! I asked the produce man , where I could find the aji dulce peppers and he starts pointing out every sweet pepper ( red, green, yellow) which in his defense are sweet peppers, but not the ones I was looking for). I specifically picked Fiesta because instacart had the peppers listed for Fiesta,. But they did not have them. I . Great fresh produce. Just like any other market, you need to compare prices from the regular grocery store that you use .'some prices were higher than you would find at the larger grocery chains. If there was a fiesta by me I would definitely shop produce. There was also Bakery with a small selection. I bought a pumpkin empanada. It wasn't it as sweet as the Panaderia that I go to, but maybe it was a more traditional taste without a lot of sugar.

I do recommend Fiesta becuase they have a selection of international items for your specials need…read more Also a good meat poultry are and , of course the Bakery is one of my favorite. Sweet delicious bread , cakes, bolillos etc. Also good prices. Love Fiesta

They carry a great selection of snacks, drinks, and even alcoholic beverages, so it's perfect if you're looking to try something new or just grab a few unique treats. It's not really a full grocery store, but that's part of the charm. Curated, hard-to-find goodies. They also have fresh, to-go sushi that's honestly so good, super fresh, flavorful, and surprisingly high quality. Another huge plus is that they're open late and makes it an ideal stop for late-night snack runs (think cup noodles and more). It's definitely one of those places where you want to try a little bit of everything, even if you have to hold yourself back a bit. I definitely recommend checking HokkaiSan out!

Yakitori ($4.99): Came with two skewers of tender chicken but we didn't really like the flavors. Chashu Pork Filled Guo Bao ($7.99): The buns are fluffy and the chashu pork slices are a good size but they were a bit overcooked and didn't melt in your mouth. The flavors were just okay too. 8 Piece Salmon Sashimi ($12.99): Wow, this was super fresh and honestly better than some of the surrounding sushi restaurants. Best thing we had here and worth coming back for alone. We also ordered a regular platter ($89.99) for New Year's Eve and had it delivered. It fed 4 people with a little leftover which was great. The platter came with a variety of maki and rolls including Eel Avocado, Salmon, Yellow Tail Scallion, Spicy Salmon Crunch, Spicy Tuna Avocado, Sweet Potato Avocado, Salmon Avocado, California, Black Dragon, and Rainbow. They were all alright; I think their sashimi is better so I recommend that over the maki or rolls here.

I first discovered them at their Burnet Road location and was so excited when they opened a new location on Lamar. The store is compact but packed wall-to-wall with authentic Japanese groceries, snacks, drinks, and home goods you just don't find in mainstream supermarkets. The staff is polite and efficient, and the checkout process is quick even when it's busy. Parking can be a little tight depending on the time of day. I especially love ordering their freshly made bento boxes for lunch. They go pretty fast but they allow you to reserve them over the phone on place an online order. My favorite is the Ebi fry which comes with 2 fried shrimp tempura and the Aji fry with fried fish. Then bento boxes come with rice, kinpira, tamago yaki and shibazuke. They also have a lot of Japanese items including my favorite sake Hana Awaka and other fun items. If it is a speciality Japanese item, I know I can most likely find it here.

One of my absolute favorites is their onigiri rice balls--I honestly crave them. I stopped by a little after lunchtime, and there was already a sign saying they were finished taking onigiri orders for the day. I was browsing around anyway when one of the ladies kindly asked what I was looking for. I casually mentioned a few onigiri styles, and to my surprise she smiled and said they still had some left and could make them for me. That small gesture completely made my day. The kindness and warmth of the Japanese ladies working there truly stands out. You can feel the care they put into both the food and the customers. I also picked up some Japanese noodles and sweets while I was there, which made for a very delicious and comforting lunch at home. Thank you for the wonderful service and atmosphere. Keep up the great work always. Cheers
