This is one of the better ballparks I've been to but everything is SO EXPENSIVE OMG. I know we're coming off a year of no fans but jeez. $20 for some chicken fingers and a soda and another $20 for a (super cute) cocktail mason jar souvenir. That one did come with alcohol to be fair. PNC Park has been woven into the Pittsburgh fabric. You cannot tell me differently. It has become beloved by the city and baseball fans alike. I mean what is not to like about the park? Beautiful view of the city, blends in with the neighborhood, and evokes the grandeur of yesteryear of ballparks. I have been to this ballpark on multiple occasions, all for ballgames. I never got around to writing about it because I didn't know exactly what to say. I didn't want to do it an injustice by not saying everything I could about this place. I finally realized that no matter what I write, it's not going to convey what this place means to so many people. I love the flow of the place. I love the nods to the greats the team has had the honor to have. No matter which entrance you go to you are greeted by one. Game day around here is electric. It feels so alive and vibrates. PNC Park on game day could be considered the heart of the city. I know I didn't give PNC Park the justice it deserves in this review. However, I felt like it deserved the notation of being my 2,600th review. I always remember my reviews on the hundred. No better place than PNC Park for it. read more

Fabulous time at PNC Park despite a 2-hr storm delay after the first inning.  A midnight ending with a Pirates win capped it off nicely--too bad we were Reds fans.   There don't seem to be any bad seats in this park.  We were 3rd base field level near the top but it still felt like we were on top of the action.   This is the best skyline view of any MLB park.  You can reach out and grab the buildings they're so close.  They loom over the outfield like foreboding fans waiting to catch a home run.   Walking across the bridge was electric among all the fans--coming and leaving (a win helped).  Plenty of parking within walking distance on the other side of the river was cheap compared to other parks. Great chances to move around and see the perspective from different locations around the park as well.  My son enjoyed looking over the wall into the bullpen in center field. Plenty of restaurants nearby and a really nice atmosphere around the stadium.  I'd expect no less with the great fans in Pittsburgh.  We'll hope to get back there one day!Easy parking factor: options abound in downtown Pittsburgh. With bridges turning to pedestrian-only on game days, it's easy walking to the stadium accompanied by spirited Pirates fans. Cheap ticket factor: since it's not the 90s (or 70s) anymore, you can find plenty of decent seats for not that much money. Sit facing the outfield if you want to take in the skyline view, but sub-$20 and even single-digit ticket prices exist. Welcoming factor: the aforementioned pedestrian bridge-walking makes for a great pre-game experience. Mingle with the locals who think this might be the year they go deep in the playoffs again. Food factor: Cashless, so leave those bills at home, or use the reverse-ATM to turn paper $$ into bitcoin (actually just a prepaid Visa). Grab BBQ at Manny's or Familee (Pittsburgh Cone), Quinoa Blueberry Salad for you high-brow folk, "Fire in the Hole" at BRGR for the rest. Move freely about the cabin factor: usually plenty of elbow room when it's not opening day, with the best skyline views in the majors. Peer down on the relief pitchers warming up from the outfield bridge. Grab a homerun ball from a bleacher seat during your late-inning stroll. Little kid souvenir factor: Plenty of visitor autographs for the cute kids if you have them, with some great foul-ball catching during visitor BP. There's also enough lore from yesteryear to entertain the young and old kids in your group. While ours was a 2.5 hour rain-delay that ended close to midnight, the electric atmosphere and skyline that feels like you can touch it over right field almost outdo the rabid black-and-yellow weird-hatted fans, almost. After the game thankfully it was only a short walk back across those yellow bridges to parking and hotels. It was a fun experience we'll hope to repeat at PNC. read more

I've been a Pirates fan for 40 some years. I've never seen a championship team, except when I was 3 years old they won the World Series. But I can't recall that. These days it's a lot of bad ball play. But I have to say what they've did with the ball park is amazing. They've really set this place up. In the outfield you have an area that used to be seats but now it's an area where you can sit, relax, eat and drink and catch a great glimpse in outfield. We went recently and had front row outfield seats but never left our seats in the relaxed area and watched the game there. Outstanding job Pittsburgh pirates organization. They have new areas for burgers and chicken. The chicken was cold so complaint there but next time I will see again. It's self checkout now. Walk up touch screen, choose what you want, pay on card and get a ticket number and it goes into the queue. In addition they have two large bar areas that is added. One is Nicks Fathead brewery and other local microbrews. Then what about all of the extra seats in the area. It's amazing.. can't wait to see the tigers come to town. read more

Home to the Pittsburgh Pirates, PNC Park ranks near the top among Major League Baseball ballparks I've been to. It's been beautifully constructed to have a backdrop of the Roberto Clemente bridge and a panoramic view of the picturesque Pittsburgh skyline beyond the outfield. The public areas within the stadium are modern and well maintained, and very fan-friendly staff members, making for a welcoming day out at the ballpark. The stadium is located right on the river of the North Shore area of Pittsburgh, easily accessible from downtown or even via ferry from Station Square. I opted for the Gateway Clipper ferry as I figured it may be my only unique opportunity to arrive at a sporting event via boat, taking in scenic views of the city along the way. The pirate theming definitely added to the flair of the venue. They had a Pittsburgh Pirates cap giveaway the day I went and it was of pretty decent quality. My one major critique would be the concessions were way overpriced (even for ballpark standards) and weren't of high quality, but won't let it tarnish my rating of the this beautiful ballpark and otherwise great experience. PNC Park is definitely worth a visit for a fun day out at the ballpark. read more

I'm not at all a sports person, but came here to experience a baseball game while in town. Love love loveeee the skyline view, especially on a night when the sunset was perfect. Great way to experience a game/event and also view the Pittsburgh skyline. While we got tickets, after we were on our way out, we noticed that the area that was at the back end of the baseball field was the best, most "hopping" part of the venue, so I'd encourage you to check that area out if you're looking to make it more of a social event with light focus on the game. read more

Went down to see the good ol pirates for a work party but as you can expect, we didn't watch much baseball since we're terrible. The park is one of the best in the MLB and I strongly recommend at least once in your life you get to experience the views (especially since tickets are so cheap) The image you see attached was one of the restaurants in the box's so it isn't available everywhere in the part Overall good experience at the park and if you want to make your money back it's always a safe play to bet against the pirates after the all-star break ! read more

Overall a decent ballpark. The view is great but it doesnt save the park. I have been to other parks with great views that also have amazing food options & drink options. Went to two games one behind home plate and the other in the nosebleeds. Nosebleeds were better for that view and the people up there were way nicer. Visited PNC Park this past July to watch the Pirates versus my Milwaukee Brewers, as I was in town for a family reunion, and was happy to see my Brew Crew in this famous ballpark. Parking across the street was no problem- the guy said there was a 20% tax for cheering for the opposing team though- haha- we encountered a lot of friendly Pirates fans, employees, supporters, that's always nice when you're the visiting team. Parking in a lot across the street was as much as Miller Park parking is a mile away from the park- very affordable ballpark prices. PNC is an older park, but I didn't expect to have to walk a circular ramp mile up to the top tiers. Still, being in the top tiers, facing out towards the outfield Beautiful Views! There really isn't a bad seat in the park! We ate a meal beforehand, but our snack was Crab Fries, and damn those were good! (Old Bay Seasoning on fries). I had a local craft beer, so yay! Pirates fans were really nice to us and a group of them gave my girlfriend (a PGH native) and her daughters all Pirates hats to wear. The girls got a free ice cream for fan appreciation (kids) day. We saw the Racing Pierogies and we had a great visit to PNC Park! read more

A fun park, nice views and great people watching, then again any park has the same kinds of offerings. It is fitting that the park is made from steel beams, which is what this city was once so well known for, once upon a time. This was a first time watching a game in here, it was fun, very similar to any park in any other state, even back at Comerica Park too. The game wasn't that interesting, but being present was cool. They had fireworks afterwards, par for the course at most games it seems. read more

I love baseball. When we found out we were going to be in Pittsburgh and the Bucs were gonna be home there was no doubt we were going to see a game. Since we were staying just across the Clemente Bridge we were able to just walk to the game. We got into the stadium early enough to watch the Reds take batting practice and walk completely around the stadium to check out the food options. Before going to our seats we decided to eat (it was a 1:30 game so it was lunchtime. We decided to stop at Manny's BBQ (Manny Sanguillen) and had what we THOUGHT was the most Pittsburgh food we could find (until we got to the Pens game later that night). I had a Pierogi Hoagie (sub roll with two pierogis and topped with pulled pork-OMG) and Wifey had pulled pork nachos (also amazing). We found our way down to our seats and got to spend a beautiful April day in the sun watching a great ballgame that the Pirates won in extra innings. This is an awesome stadium with great sight lines, great food, and a tip of the hat to their history. Sadly they took the Negro League statues down a couple years ago, but they do have banners up for some of the greats out by Pops Plaza. If my son comes to school here I will be back...a LOT. read more

No matter where you sit, there's always a great view of the city at Pnc Park! Love going to the Pirates games! On Fridays they have happy hour at the Crows Nest before the game starts. It's 1/2 off beers, which is a great deal because of how expensive things are at the stadium. Also they don't allow larger bags inside the stadium so try to bring as little as possible! They have good food selections, the crab fries are my favorite! You can also enjoy the classics, cheeseburger, hot dogs & chicken tenders, that never disappoint. My family and I visited Pittsburgh as the last leg of our baseball trip, and this park was absolutely breathtaking. The views of the Pittsburgh skyline in the background were amazing, the Alleghany River running behind the stadium was a sight to see, and friendly staff and good food everywhere we turned. Plus, they had my favorite beer, Yuengling, which we can't get anywhere on the West Coast! What a beautiful ballpark! Came for a visit on a quest to see all the MLB ballparks. We heard many good things about this ballpark and we understand why! The views are unbeatable! Especially of the Pittsburgh skyline and the Roberto Clemente bridge in the background. The higher up you are, the better the view. And you can still see everything happening on the field even in the 300s level. It's not like other ballparks where at the 300s level you feel like you're literally watching ants run on the field. Very family friendly and the overall vibes are great. Definitely one of my favorites out of the ballparks that I've been to so far. read more

Pittsburgh hit a home run with this one. At first glance, the stadium is a visually stunning piece of architecture. The limestone exterior combined with the steel walking spirals fit seamlessly into the city's downtown footprint. The view from the inside is even better. Most of the seats, even in the upper deck, are close to the field and the sight lines are nice and gentle. I recommend sitting in the upper deck seats behind home plate. They offer up a striking view of the downtown Pittsburgh skyline and might be the best seats in house. Entering is easy. There are a number of gates that even with today's security measures get you in nice and quickly so you won't miss any action. read more

We bought tickets for the Pittsburgh Pirates while we were in town. This was a pretty spur of the moment decision, but the box office line went quickly and we were able to purchase very reasonable priced tickets only a half an hour before game time. We sat about 20 rows back on the third base line and had not only a great view of the field, but all the city and bridges behind the outfield. It was very hot though and the shade did not get to us until almost the end of the game. If we go to another game, the only thing I would do differently is pick seats in the shade. As with all baseball stadium, the concession stand prices were really expensive, but they did have plenty of food options. It was hard to find parking around the stadium that wasn't way overpriced and it took us a long time to walk back to the car after because we ended up parking so far away. Overall, it was a super clean and well kept stadium and the on field crew did a great job with the entertainment between innings. read more

PNC Park is hands down the most fan friendly and visually appealing MLB park in the country including the venerated ballyards in Boston (historic but decrepit) Baltimore (Baltimore, enough said) and all three incarnations of the classic cathedral in the Bronx (see below.) The place is immaculate with excellent sightlines and a panoramic view of downtown Pittsburgh. Simply, PNC is an architectural rendering of excellence in concept and design. The Pirates may be terrible but that's hardly the point because you are sitting in the best expression of a thing that is possible. A venue that was designed for superior aesthetics and not just for the enhanced revenue potential of VIP seating and "fan engagement" distractions at every turn. The newest Yankee Stadium may be the House that Ruth Built but it is also the House that economic ruthlessness, Goldman Sachs and the beleaguered taxpayers of New York rebuilt - and by the looks of the highly stratified seating and caste system food options it was not a labor of love but merely a test of customer credit limits. Trust me, I get (and appreciate) the new economics of baseball but the Yankees take everything to the extreme and to be fair, that includes winning. In contrast, PNC is wide open and generally just a spectacular vista to take in a ballgame, throw back a few dogs and some adult beverages. I'm a purist about such things and if I want a theme park, I'll head to Orlando and if I want the best atmospherics for baseball, I'll point my car towards Pittsburgh. Even though I am a lifelong Pirates fan who has been to Three Rivers, as well as someone who has been to 20 ballparks, this truly is in the top 5% of MLB ballparks for a variety of reasons. 1.) Relaxed Feel. A very nonchalant atmosphere despite being in a big city. Obviously there is going to be crowds, but with that being said- I have never went to this stadium and felt overwhelmed as you may with say New York, or Boston, or even Baltimore. Parking is widely available in between Heinz Field and PNC, as well as across the river with parking garages 2.) Scenery. As my picture shows- great backdrop to the stadium, yellow bridges that they shut down to allow for fans to walk across and get to the event, and mountains with architectural buildings and steeples everywhere. 3.) Small market baseball. Hustle and bustle aside with the business of the game- there are plenty of promotions, very fair ticket prices, and decent concession options. I don't know as a Marylander, going here is the same amount as Baltimore for me, yet less pressure and more laid back. Cheers. read more
