The line to get in was definitely long, but once we made it through security, it was such a nice surprise that everyone received a bobblehead. That was a huge improvement compared to the Pittsburgh Pirates Mac Miller bobblehead night, where I didn't receive one even with club tickets. The seats in Section 332 were great--easy to access and offered a really good view of the game. Even with the rain delay, the park handled things pretty well overall. The only downside was the ground level area, which got very crowded and a bit difficult to move through, but that's to be expected with weather delays and big crowds. I usually make it to a game about once a week during the summer, and experiences like this are exactly why I keep coming back. Always a fun time at the ballpark!

PNC Park opened in 2001 and is the home of the Pittsburgh Pirates baseball team. I have attended a couple of Pirates games here (I should attend more!), and I have enjoyed the beautiful views of the Allegheny River and city skyscrapers and not quite as much the losing performance of the Pirates... Most recently my husband's company held a holiday party in the Pittsburgh Baseball Club (PBC/C) Level, an indoor climate-controlled concourse. We had access to three private bars--Wigle Whiskey, Wigle Reserve, and City of Champions Bourbon--as well as concession stands--Il Forno Pizza, Bierbauer's Grill, Tenders Love Chicken, Bridges Burger Company, and a pasta station. The level also included lounge areas, pool tables, etcetera. We enjoyed eating the Rudolph's Spritzer (limoncello, vodka, cranberry juice, and Sprite), cheese and pepperoni pizza, nachos (which came in a cute mini Pirates hat!), chicken and vegan tenders with fries (the vegan tenders actually tasted decent), and sugar and toffee cookies. However, the made-to-order tortellini with vodka sauce and bacon was extremely oily, so we ate little of it. The employees spoke nicely with us, and I got to pose with The Pirate Parrot and the Pirate Pierogi Jalapeño Hannah. This company party also included a brief tour of the stadium. We saw the hallways, field, dugout, and clubhouse (locker room, coaches' offices, training area, etc. but with NO photos or videos allowed).

Their fields are in great condition, they have a good program for kids starting out and it just keeps getting bigger when they get older. Another difference is the uniforms. I got a t-shirt with some guys plumbing company down the street on the front of the shirt and a cap. Now they get very nice uniforms of pro teams. I'm jealous. I would have loved being in this Plum program when I was a kid. When my son was 6 I thought that he got good coaching and learned a lot from his coaches here. The older he gets it's harder to find that. Some coaches are really good at teaching and some are not. I can't complain because this is volunteer and I really wish I could coach but the times that I work would not allow that for me unfortunately. My only complaint would be two things. Some of the games go on way too long. Which leads me to my second complaint in 8pm games for kids. My son was 7 and played games at 8pm and we would get home at 1030 almost 11pm on a school night! He is 9 almost 10 now and it's the same thing. It's really cool playing games under the lights but they are so tired the next day and this isn't good for a school night. Some games just keep going on and on because the kids can't get outs. This needs fixed. Overall I think Plum does a good job here with their baseball program. I would have loved it when I was a kid. Just needs a few tweaks.
