An Oakland stroll with 3 cool dudes.

What's not to love? Food vendors, a carousel and we just recently realized there's ping pong just out for people to play.

Schenley Plaza is a super plaza, green space, and food option. There is a covered tent with seating, open to all. There is green space with grass to sit, throw frisbee. There is a beautiful pollinator perenial garden in full bloom right now in mid July (it even includes butterfly milkweed, host plant to Monarch caterpillars) with bench seating. And, there are several restaurants -- some with walk-up ordering and outdoor seating, and The Porch with indoor/outdoor seating.

Schenley Plaza is a great place to meet up with friends and have lunch or just hang out after a long summer walk or summer activities on the lawn. We often host events at the plaza for an organization that we volunteer with. It's such a fantastic central location. Can't forget about WYEP concerts on the lawn. If it's a super hot day, viewing from under the plaza is the way to go.

If I die and go to heaven, I hope it's an eternity spent at Schenley Plaza. I love Pittsburgh and have lived here my whole life, hecks I was born 5 minutes from SP at Magee, and of this old rusty steel town, this is my favorite place. It is a dream here all year. You're surrounded by happy people, rich culture, beautiful scenery, delicious and diverse food options, and your choice of recreational activities. Schenley Plaza sits in the eye of Oakland, immediately surrounded by the Carnegie Complex (music hall, museum, library), Frick Fine Arts Building, Hillman Library, and overshadowed by the Cathedral of Learning. Immediately within the plaza itself, you can lay on the grass, read a book, write a yelp review (meta), enjoy a good meal from Conflict Kitchen or The Porch, or enjoy a desert from Waffallonia. Within a short walk you can see the Love Locks bridge, Phipps Conservatory, Heinz Chapel, CMU, Schenley Park, lots of shops and restaurants, and the Pitt main campus. In the summer there are fun free concerts and activities you can go to, or do what I like to do: not much and just hang out here in the sun. Also a great place to take a date. PS: Old Pittsburghers will remember when this place was a parking lot... obvi a much better use of space now.

The Schenley Plaza is a beautifully placed piece of land between Carnegie Museum of Natural History and the University of Pitt. The grassy lawn offers you the feeling of being able to decompress in the big city of Pittsburgh, and the little shops and food kiosks offer you a tasty snack. It looks like from the other reviews that there is a farmers market that I'd love to see. I'll be back again soon enough.

A relaxing place to chill out and eat. Lots of fun events are here too. On a nice summer of spring day it's always a nice place to go.

I think we came at a kind of off time of day because the pretzels were cold and kind of hard, but they still tasted good and the dips were what we expected. I'd suggest making a trip towards the beginning of the day!

Amazing pretzels!!!…read more Super friendly and polite customer service with warm, comforting pretzels and the most amazing dips ever. In addition to being organic and vegan I also appreciate the fact that they aren't too salty like many other soft pretzels are. These pretzels also reheat well in the toaster oven which is great when you are already stuffed but want to take a pretzel to go. I especially recommend the cinnamon butter dip which has a very unique flavor. I've never had anything like it. It is reminiscent of cinnamon ice cream in texture and flavor without actually being cold or too sweet. You also don't mind using a lot of it as it is light and fluffy in mouthfeel.  They must never take the tasty cinnamon butter away!!! They also have a tasty mustard dip which is a condiment I often recommend to people as a Dietitian due to its many health benefits. As the only local pretzel place in Pittsburgh to serve both organic and vegan pretzels this is the *perfect* vendor to any local party you are having - particularly events that have the need to be vegan and/or organic as people become increasingly concerned with their health and the environment. I highly recommend contacting Connor today or ordering a pretzel from him if you see his pretzels at an event! :)

Pocha by Kye Won was a 34 mile road trip from New Castle, PA, and worth it! (It was a nice weekend…read moredrive in the country with the wife though, so the drive was fun too) I got the dol-sut bibimbap, the wife got the spicy pork with sweet potato noodles (those are the translucent lightly brown stretch noodles you find in so many Korean dishes. GET THEM instead of rice, or with rice if you have to have rice, just get these tasty, stretchy, noodles!) Kye-Won is who did the actual service for the food, and she is terrific. I'm VERY familiar with Korean food, and she guided us through the smaller, but well curated menu. There is no jujube chicken, no squid on a stick or oyster pancake. What they DO have is a rotating menu of kimchi ban-chan sides, all EXCELLENT! If you are disappointed by the banchan and kimchi you've had elsewhere, because it wasn't "hearty" enough, this place will fix that. I loved the place! Without reservation and unequivocally. Oh, and there's an outside covered grilling tent for AUTHENTIC Korean table grilled meats! (The Korean bbq) I can't wait to go back for that! Check out the menu pics, all current as of March '26.

Since we were at Grist House, I wanted to have a drink. I absolutely loved my pineapple mojito with vodka. So sweet and delicious! We decided to try some apps because they all sounded really good and we read about how much people enjoyed the online. We started out with the Mandu (Pork Dumplings) / 만두 were so crunchy and the meat and sauce were really good too. The scallion pancake was so crispy and flavorful. We all loved it. My husband also loved his Korean Curry Rice / 카레라이스. He's a big curry fan. My mom and I love Korean beef. We both had the bulgogi with noodles. We found out the beef bulgogi is cooked in fire so it was a bit more burnt than we could eat. We let our nice waitress know who talked to the owner. The owner personally came out to find out more, explain and make it right. It meant a lot to us. She remade the food with less char and it was delicious. It also came out quickly. Then she also took them off the bill. I tried to at least pay for one. It was only fair. She appreciated the gesture but would not hear of it. What a wonderful person! We would love to come back and try the Korean fried wings. Others had them and they looked delicious. I also love Japchae and would like for try that with chicken. So many good things on the menu.

POCHA By Kye Won - This is where you eat, inside. Only a couple tables and a bar for the draft beer. Not a banquet hall.
