This is a great brunch place! There is indoor and outdoor seating, and the service was great. Casual vibe. My bf and I came and ordered one sweet dish (berry waffle) and one savory (Santa Fe eggs Benedict). The portions were large and the food was delicious. The waffle came with homemade whipped cream that was superrrrr sweet. Definitely did not have to use the syrup and just ate it with the cream. The eggs Benedict had perfectly runny yolks and the potatoes with it were delicious as well. My bf ordered a Bloody Mary which he said was okay. I came here for a birthday brunch over the weekend. We ordered a variety of food and drinks. I got the Danish Baby and Iced Vanilla Latte. The Vanilla Latte was very delicious and came out pretty fast along with my friend's drinks. They ordered some cocktails and all of them looked so pretty. The Danish Baby was HUGE and I got it with berries. You can also get it with bacon if you want it to be more savory but the berries were so fresh and sweet. It was $20 for the massive portion and my latte was $7. My friends said their food and drinks were good too! Service could've been better but I understand since it was a weekend and it was busy. It took a while to get anyone to get our check at the end and refill waters or anything. We sat there for a good amount of time and the seating outside is a bit close. I would highly recommend doing reservations before coming. Parking can also be difficult because the lot can fill up if it's during peak hours. I was able to get a reservation the day before for 12pm. When we arrived, it was packed. The hostess told us we were early (we arrived at 11:47) so we had to wait about 10 mins. The parking lot gets crowded too but there's plenty of spaces. The restaurant is pretty small with a lot of tables inside and outdoors. It can be a little noisy but not too bad. I got the french dip sandwich with the gathered green salad. The salad is so good, I wish it was a bigger portion. The sandwich was decent. The espresso martini was good. Kris and celsy took very good care of our party. We celebrated our friends birthday and were very helpful with bringing out the cake and cutting/serving the cake. My husband and I were in town and stopped by Plums Cafe this afternoon. I can't say enough good things about the food, service and the cafe itself. They have a cute courtyard for outdoor seating and the inside is modern, clean and stylish. The staff is friendly, very efficient and made us feel at home. I ordered an ice tea, tuna sandwich and fries. Wow! The sandwich was great with just the right amount of ingredients and the French fries were house made and equally delicious. My husband ordered coffee, scrambled eggs, their special homemade potatoes and the peppered ham. Again, the meal was delicious and enough for two meals. Plums has been my go-to brunch spot since highschool, so when my parents arrived in the U.S, I couldn't wait to share this iconic American brunch experience with them. We got the Dutch baby, skirt steak and eggs, cinnamon roll, and corn chicken salad, and everything was so good. My parents, who tend to find American food overly sweet or salty, were pleasantly surprised. The steak and eggs were perfectly seasoned, with incredible cut fries that complemented the dish so well. The Dutch baby was light, not overly sweet, and the fresh berries were a burst of freshness in every bite. The corn salad was also surprisingly really good.. I'd be content if work gave me this everyday for lunch. And the cinnamon roll? At a whopping 2lbs, it was ridiculously fluffy, perfectly cinnamony, and the icing was pure dessert heaven. Dutch Baby 8.85/10- this baked deep dish pancake was seriously so good! The outer edge was nice and crispy but I absolutely loved the interior which was super soft and buttery - so much more moist and flavorful than the edges. They gave us fresh strawberries, blueberries, and blackberries which were the perfect complement to balance out the butteryness. I loved how it came out piping hot so the butter just melted right into it. Dungeness Crab Omelette 9.75/10- this was absolutely incredible! The hollandaise sauce was so fresh and creamy and I loved how they added dill which made everything taste so bright. The asparagus was perfectly seasoned and still had a nice snap to it. What really made this omelette amazing was how they didn't skimp on the Dungeness crab - they put these big chunks all throughout which made it taste so decadent. The eggs were also super fluffy and cooked perfectly. Campfire Trout 7.87/10- they make this with pan-fried cornmeal-crusted trout and serve it with two eggs, peppered bacon, and potatoes. I really liked the texture that the cornmeal gave the trout - super crispy on the outside while keeping the fish moist inside. The eggs paired so well with the fish, and I loved how the bacon had this peppery kick to it. The potatoes were fantastic - perfectly cooked and I loved the rosemary flavor they added. They also gave us salsa on the side which surprisingly worked so well with the trout! The trout and crab omelette also came with a side of sourdough bread with butter and jam which was also so good but everything was so filling. Green Tea 10/10- I love hot green tea and this was the perfect drink with breakfast! My family and I decided to come here for Mother's Day to celebrate and enjoy their food. However, when trying to order, they wouldn't let us order off the regular menu and instead we had to pay an insanely increased price for one entree off the Mother's day menu. Instead of only paying $22 on the regular menu for an entree, for Mother's Day the price jumped to $45, which now included a drink and small cinnamon roll. I've heard great things about this place and got the opportunity to try it. It wasn't my cup of tea- a bit too sweet and artificial for my liking but perhaps I tried the wrong thing. I got the coconut french toast. It advertised coming with orange butter but I didn't receive it. The fruit that it did come with was very unripe, especially the papaya. The french toast tasted like it's doused in sugar candy- much too sweet for me! The cinnamon rolls were not great either - the texture was spongy and dry and the cinnamon/frosting was lackluster. The syrup here may have changed me for life! Delicious! I made a reservation the day online the day before, and I'm so glad I did! There was a big line on a Sunday mid-morning. We were sat right away, brought drinks, food order taken. In fact, we were in and out of Plums in 30 min from the time we sat to the time we left. They get you IN and OUT, and service did feel rushed. Once you put your card down, the servers send over someone else to help you pay at the table. Found this spot on tiktok, and oh my gosh!! We loved every bit of it, i had the sweet potato hash and it was perfect! The greens were fresh, the food was also brought in a timely manner, my friend got an omelette and it was amazing too!! We sat in the outside area and it was such a good vibe. Absolutely unacceptable and honestly frightening customer service. I'm 8 1/2 months pregnant and was out celebrating my friend's birthday when I went to take a bite of her breakfast sandwich and felt a large PEICE OF GLASS inside my mouth. This wasn't something minor like a hair it was actual glass, and the thought of what could have happened is terrifying. When I asked to speak with the manager, his response felt completely dismissive. He repeatedly said "yeah, that's not cool" and only removed that one item from the bill. No real concern, no sense of urgency, and no acknowledgment of how serious and dangerous this was. I was so shaken that I couldn't bring myself to eat the rest of my meal out of fear, yet still charged me for the remainder. As a pregnant customer, this experience was incredibly upsetting and left me feeling unsafe and unheard. This is a major food safety issue and should have been handled with far more care and accountability. read more

Plum's consistently prepares fresh and tasty food. I recently utilized them to cater a Bridal Shower. The food was a big hit, especially the stuffed chicken. I was so happy I had extra leftovers as many of my guests took chicken home for dinner. I can say the food looked great and presented well on my buffet. Delivery was right on time to boot. Plums has been a popular brunch spot for a long time. We recently returned as a large group and generally were satisfied with our food except for a couple of challenges. Our waiter was excellent and very patient with us as we waited for a couple who ended up never making it. As we waited drinks came out in a timely manner. Brunch is all about drinking in the morning in a socially acceptable way. The cocktails here are excellent. The Bacon Hail Mary seemed a tad small when it arrived but it was a very concentrated version. Much better than some watery ones I've had. My wife was very happy with her raspberry mojito! We dined outside as we have before. It's a pleasant space but I'm not crazy about it being right next to a gym with people working out right there. But they seem to be oblivious that people are enjoying themselves while they toil. We did find the kitchen to be uneven today. Dishes with poached eggs came out on point but the dishes with fried eggs all were undercooked with the whites still transparent. The grilled brie sandwich had 90% of the cheese on one side and 90% of the jam on the other side. It would be nice to try that sandwich with the ingredients more evenly distributed. We spoke to the manager about the eggs and he compensated those it affected. So that was nice. Hopefully it was just an off day back inthe kitchen. read more

We got the Plums Famous Dutch Baby (w/ berries), Coconut French Toast and Shirred Eggs. We enjoyed the Dutch baby- it was light yet fluffy on the base. It has an eggy taste to it and the fruit was all so sweet! The only thing is we thought that the sides could've been a bit more crispy. The coconut French toast had a good coconut flavor and a good amount of fruit on it. I thought the papaya was a really good addition and it tasted so good! I also enjoyed the toasted coconut flakes on the outside. The French toast was really crispy particularly on the edges, which I do wish were a bit softer. I tried the shirred eggs and liked it. The hash browns were good and I liked the salsa that came with it. The restaurant has both indoor and outdoor seating and was packed when we came. The waiters were also really attentive! My friends and I went to Plums for brunch last Sunday 7/13/25. Plums is my second favorite brunch spot in Costa Mesa. On my way to pick up my friend I made a reservation through opentable. At the moment it was nearing noon and the earliest opening was 1pm which I confirmed. When we got there my friend checked us in. Even though it was 12:15 pm and our reservations were for 1pm they managed to have us seated in ten minutes. Once seated we were warmly greeted by our server Frank. Who proceeded to assist us in our brunch cocktail choices. I decided on the Fire Opal Margarita and my friends got the Farmstead Bellini flavors Loganberry and Raspberry. When Frank came back to take our orders I brought it to his attention that I noticed that the menu had some new items. Last time I was here was late last year. Frank acknowledge there were some changes and went through them all and made suggestions. My friend Mike settled on the Oregon Trail, Bang chose the Rustic French Dip and I got the Hot Honey Chicken and Waffle. While enjoying our cocktails I noticed the new signs posting a 90 min table limit. Never seen it during previous visits and find it odd. The places which have such time restrictions that I know of were ayce or buffet joints. Unless there are bottomless mimosas involved i'm in and out quick. I'm respectful and courteous to fellow dinners waiting to eat. Anyway the food came out promptly and Frank and the rest of the wait staff made sure we were enjoying our time. My waffle was hot, fluffy, overall delicious. The chicken lollipops were crisp and thoroughly cooked. And the side of hot honey enhanced the flavor of chicken and waffle. Unfortunately Bang didn't enjoy his Rustic French Dip. The meat was under seasoned and the au jus was watery. Mike enjoyed his meal which consisted of 2 butter milk pancakes, 2 eggs and 2 bacon. We made reservation for four for Mother's Day brunch and so glad we did because it was crowded with people waiting around. Light, slightly dense, not to sweet, and the berries make it. I ordered the smoked salmon hash with sweet potatoes. Incredible. The smoked salmon isn't your typical thin sliced, this is thick and hearty and delicious! I loved the flavor of the dill hollandaise sauce. I also got a biscuit, which again was perfect, flaky, dense, loved it. Two eggs with sausage and hash-browns, basic breakfast, but high quality and yummy. My girlfriend and I had been craving some good pancakes for a while and when we saw this place on Yelp we knew we had to try it. I had heard good things from friends as well, so I did have some slightly high expectations lol. Luckily, the food and drinks were delicious and the staff was very friendly! We had the raspberry pancakes and blueberry pancakes and each of them had the perfect balance of sweet and tart. The raspberry ones had a vanilla butter on top which was interesting! The blueberry ones had lemon curd on top, which was also exceptional. I loved the cute details of having fresh flowers at the table, it really added to the vibes.
