It's old-world French fine dining using local Californian ingredients. I ordered the full tasting menu, and my favorite course was the soufflé with the best Dungeness crab fondue. I honestly could have eaten an entire bowl of what felt like a crab bisque. The proteins were plentiful, ranging from red snapper, squab and lamb. The panna cotta and s'mores desserts were to die for. The service was incredible. Chef Charlotte and the team Lenny, Chris, Bong, Tyler, and Carla were all awesome. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Grateful I got to walk in and dine at this spectacular establishment.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

My wife and I celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary with a wonderful dinner at the Plumed Horse. The valet out front was a great way to start, because parking at peak times in Saratoga is super challenging- but not for us the other night. Thank you, valet guy! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Once seated, we marveled at the beautiful setting and service.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We had a nice table against the window and our expert server, Eli, was warm, welcoming and extremely knowledgeable. Actually everyone on the staff was kind and attentive, and they all seemed to enjoy their jobs which you don't see too often these days. From start to finish the food was exceptional. The canapés in the 1st course were amazing and my favorite bite of the night was the tiny delicate pillow canapé with goat cheese and agave. Then for course #2 my wife had oysters and I went with a porcini mushroom orecchiette. we loved the pastas we used to get when the less formal sister restaurant Pasta Armelino used to be across the street, and this pasta would have been perfect for that menu. I had the Ling Cod entree and my wife had the duck. If we had to name 1 critical note about our experience at the Plumed Horse it would be that both of our main courses seemed a little bland. My wife would have wanted some acidity in her duck dish like from a fruit like cherry or plum, which are often paired with duck. Similarly my Ling Cod wanted something more too, whether spice or sweetness or something. But both dishes were cooked perfectly- we were just left wanting a little bit more. A highlight of the meal was our Pommes Paillasson side, which is like extra crispy French fries but with rich mashed potatoes in the middle. Heavenly. We finished with amazing desserts - my wife had an apple soufflé and I had a deconstructed s'mores - both were amazing. We had champagne toasts (my wife had a traditional champagne and mine was without alcohol), a glass of wine (wife), a spirit-free cocktail (me again), amazing food and an excellent experience. Lurvely meal.

Came for a birthday celebration and got the 4 course tasting menu. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The ambiance is classic and dated in a refined way[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]], and staff was very attentive. The 4 course tasting menu was nice in the sense that you can choose for each course (except the first starter bite course), and we chose different items to try more dishes/share. We opted for the uni/crab souffle (each), duck and coulotte for entrees, and black sesame passion and caramel apple souffle for dessert. Also got the crispy eggplant as an additional side. Honestly, everything was pretty underwhelming/on the saltier end. The uni/crab souffle was pretty cloying and hard to really taste the uni/crab amidst the fondue. Entrees were ok, but not impressive. Dessert wise, the black sesame passion pastries were a bit dense, and the souffle was too cloyingly sweet. The crispy eggplant may have been our favorite out of all the dishes. Our cocktail drinks were really solid (pink is the new black + allegory) and a highlight of the meal. We were also pleasantly surprised to receive complimentary champagne for the birthday celebration, though it would have been nice to receive this at the start of the meal rather than the very end. Note: we were unpleasantly surprised that the water was extra $9 in the final tab (we were not given any other options/heads up beforehand)

After a tough anniversary dinner in September, Jeffrey was kind enough to reach out and ask us for more details about our experience to better understand the lapses in service. My partner and I really valued his genuine intent to close that gap and improve the experience for future diners. We returned to try the Spring menu, and it was a delight. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant's ambience felt polished, warm, and extremely professional.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The canapés were delicious, and the beef tartare with green goddess dressing was easily the best bite of the night. The brioche-crusted lingcod had a lovely texture, beautifully paired with the delicate vegetables and sauce. The coulotte was my personal favorite, especially with the arrowhead cabbage and fermented green garlic accompaniment. I removed one star from the rating because the sauces for both the lingcod and coulotte were not my favorite. The charred scallion sauce was certainly smoky, but it carried an acrid taste. I love charred meat and grilled flavors, but the degree of concentration of that charred flavor bordered on carcinogenic. I understand that may have been the intention, though my partner did not enjoy that aspect and let me take his course home. The sauce for the lingcod lacked flavor, as it wasn't outwardly lemony or fragrant enough to complement the fish and courgette. I appreciate that the PH is always creating new sauces to keep their menu interesting. During my visit, these particular sauces fell a little flat for me. PH seemed to read our minds and kindly brought out the desserts we were most excited to try. The lemon tart was classically made and wonderfully tart. The black sesame passion dessert was delicious on its own, but paired perfectly with the S'mores dessert. I love chocolate and passionfruit together and took every opportunity to combine the two. I thoroughly enjoyed my second experience at PH, and would like to thank Jeffrey and the PH team for taking my previous review into consideration and really improving the flow of service.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]The Plumed Horse fully earns its Michelin star -- refined, elegant, and genuinely memorable without ever feeling stuffy.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We chose the four‑course tasting menu, which was more than enough food and beautifully paced. Every dish was immaculate in flavor and presentation, but still warm and inviting rather than overly formal. The meal began with an assortment of canapés: a smoked trout chouquette, ahi tuna cigar, beef tartare and green goddess tartlet, and a goat cheese pastelito. Each one was precise and flavorful -- a perfect little preview of what the kitchen can do. For our second course, we ordered the kanpachi with rhubarb and their renowned black pepper and Parmesan soufflé with uni and Dungeness crab fondue. The soufflé is famous for a reason -- rich, airy, deeply savory -- and the fondue takes it over the top. The kanpachi was bright and balanced, a great contrast to the decadence of the soufflé. Our third course was the duck and the coulotte, both cooked beautifully. The duck was tender with a crisp skin, and the coulotte steak was deeply flavorful and perfectly cooked to medium rare. Again, the kitchen hits that sweet spot of luxury without pretension. Dessert was just as strong. We ended with the lemon tart and the deconstructed s'mores -- one bright and zesty, the other playful and indulgent. A perfect finish. Service was exceptional: attentive, knowledgeable, and present without ever feeling pushy. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant itself is cleverly divided into a formal dining room, a chef's table inside the kitchen, and a more relaxed bar and lounge area, giving diners a range of experiences under one roof.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Their wine list is extensive and impressive, and the social wine program -- where you can open a unique bottle if other guests are also interested -- is such a fun, communal touch. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's also a fantastic spot for celebrations; nearly every table around us seemed to be marking something special.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] And despite the fine‑dining polish, they don't take themselves too seriously. The money‑printed toilet paper and the staff dropping fake bills on the floor were hilarious, unexpected details that kept the night lighthearted. A standout experience from start to finish -- luxurious, playful, and absolutely worth the visit.

Romanian Valentine's Day dinner celebrations at Plumed Horse. Enjoyed the 4 course prize-fixe menu. The guava and goat cheese in the assortment of canapés was the best! The yellowfin tuna tartar I got as my second course was good and recommended by the server, but I enjoyed my partners mushroom campanelle more. For the 3rd I had the steak and my partner the chicken Milanese, both delicious. Service was very attentive.

i went to plumed horse for a nice dinner and was blown away by the service and level of detail. we did the four course meal and i loved the canapes and appetizers most. the uni & crab souffle was so inventive and savory. also, the mushroom morel oriecchette was highlight for me as well! in addition, the bread was so fluffy and delicious and the desserts were incredibly inventive. while all the courses are small, there was plenty of food to feel very full. [[HIGHLIGHT]]the main restaurant is a large room, but there is a wine room dividing the front bar/lounge area and the main room.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]note to sit in the main room, you must order the tasting menu (8 courses) or four course menu.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] i was also blown away by the drinks - the clarified milk punch (per my last email) and blood oath were both so delicious and beautifully presented!

I had dinner here recently on a weeknight with a small group of colleagues. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The interior space is beautifully done. The main dining room is classy and elegant. The private dining rooms are nicely done and allow for good conversation[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. Every single food item we were served was top notch in taste and presentation. I've included photos for reference. They have an extensive selection of wines to choose from and the service throughout the meal was impeccable. This restaurant has a stellar reputation and they certainly lived up to it at this dinner. Outstanding!

Plumed Horse is a Michelin starred French inspired restaurant in Saratoga. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place is really nice and features a three story wine cellar with glass floors.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The service is excellent. The staff is very attentive without being overbearing. The food is a bit slow to arrive so budget a couple hours to dine here. The food is great as you would expect. The canapés were all delicious but I really liked the beef tartare and the lox "bagel". The Uni and crab soufflé was really nicely prepared and was probably the best "second course" option. The beef raghu was good but the pasta was slightly undercooked. For the third course, both the beef tenderloin and pork were perfectly cooked and seasoned. They basically melt in your mouth and they both have either clams or vegetables to balance them out. I really liked the lemon tart (even though I was really looking forward to the apple dish that vanished from the menu). I'll definitely go back next time I celebrate something special.

Fabulous service- definitely deserving of the Michelin star. Had an amazing dinner here with a group of friends. The cocktails were a highlight for us, especially the Per My Last Email. It was so beautiful I didn't want to drink it! But you definitely need to drink it, it's an amazing milk punch. The food was also great. The highlights for the group were the black pepper & Parmesan soufflé and the flannery farms rib-eye. I would definitely come here again as a splurge celebration!

Exceptional service and experience unfortunately food didn't live up to expectations. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Wide wine collection and a beautiful wine cellar for pictures.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] One Michelin star restaurant with unique prefixed 4 course menu. The sommelier is quite a character and has a sense of humor. Started off with the canapés and each bite was flavorful and had an interesting texture. The Fiscalini tart was my favorite of the 4 due to the pistachios. The 2nd course we selected the beef cheek ragu and black pepper and Parmesan soufflé. The beef cheek ragu was on the saltier side. Small chunks of meat and the pasta was al dente. Stracciatella was smooth and dense. The soufflé was creamy and full of crab and uni flavor. Soufflé was fluffy and hot which pairs perfectly with the fondue. The 3rd we got black cod and the beef tenderloin. Black cod was cooked perfectly with a decent sauce but also on the saltier side. The beef tenderloin was soft and cooked medium rare. The kabocha was the best part of the dish. Sweet and had a light caramelization. The sides were standard. The creamed spinach and leeks tasted how it sounded. The tempura maitake mushrooms had a hard crunchy batter. A bit too hard and was expecting a traditional light and crispy. They had a special white truffle risotto which was amazing. It was rich and creamy with fresh truffle flavors. The server comes and grinds the white truffle to your liking and comes at $90 a dish. The desserts looked amazing. Carrot cake and Bjorn's apple looked like real carrots and apple. Cracked the shells to enjoy the sweetness! The course started off fantastic but leading to the main entree was a let down for a 1 Michelin star restaurant. Flavors of the main course didn't have much depth and leaned on the saltier side. Desserts were superb. They also have a mocktail menu. Valet parking for $15 or you can find street parking.

Immaculate experience. Heck, they even have a bidet. They are far better than most other restaurants that attempt these price points. I guess that's why they got the Michelin star. This place has all of the service you would expect of a restaurant of this quality. All of our dishes came on time. Our water glasses were kept full and correctly filled with sparkling/filtered for most of the whole night. The staff was attentive. We all ended our meal service full. We came here to celebrate my proposal to my fiance. Since we were a large party considering the prie-fixe menu, they offered us a five-course meal instead to lighten the burden on their kitchen and our decision making. In turn, we got an extra main course for the price of the four-course. The only thing I wished was that we were offered the opportunity to pick the 5 courses as some in my party had dietary preferences to not include seafood. Of the dishes, the favorite among the meat eaters was the rib-eye. Incredibly tender, cooked to perfection, and with complementary flavors from the squash. Of those who are bread eaters, they absolutely loved the muffin-shaped bread and it's accompanied butter. Both were incredibly light, fluffy, and yet substantial. Of the canapes, the table ranked either the Fiscalini Tart or the Ahi Tartare & Cucumber as their number 1 & 2 favorite. The Smoked Salmon éclair and Beef Tartare "briquette" were both forgettable though we didn't have a bunch of people who were seafood enjoyers at the table. For the Black Pepper & Parmesan Souffle, we all enjoyed our servers telling us never to touch the teacup as it would burn our fingers. This was the majority of the tables third favorite dish. The Black Cod was forgettable. The favorites and seasoning were fairly one-note. Worst dish. For the desserts, they ranged from Asian low sweet to medium-high sweet, with nothing blatantly sweet to the point of decadence. The dark chocolate souffle was the favorite, though, do note, it is the least sweet. The carrot cake is the least favorite. Bjorn's apple is good but not as caramel-like as I had expected the Crème Caramel was forgettable. When we asked for our check, the staff brought along final treats for us to partake. Both were enjoyable. But this segways into my next point. They were really slow on getting us our check. To the point that I had believed they just forgot about us. And picking it up doubly so. This would not be an issue but my party was still conversing and drinking water this whole time and we needed refills. During the whole dining experience, until just before the very end, we had constantly had our waters monitored and our glasses filled. But we had to go out of our way to ask to pay our bill because at some people they started really slowing down on providing water and attending our table.

Ask the Community - Plumed Horse

Is there real food available at the bar, going all the way up to 4 course, or just small snacks?

Anything on the 4-course menu can be ordered a la carte in the bar and lounge, but there isn't a "bar menu" with snacks.

Can you get red wine by the glass? I didn't see that option on the website menu. The prices for bottles of wine are astronomical! I mean, I know it's a very fancy restaurant, but still, those wine prices, yikes!

You can. You have to ask for it when you're at the restaurant. They have a few good ones that they sell by the glass.

Do you need reservations for the lounge?

No. But recommended depending on day.

If doing chef tasting, does the whole table have to participate? We have one picky eater, can she order ala carte?

They allow for allergies and preferences and can make adjustments, but it's everyone tasting or everyone having the 4-course menu.

    Is outdoor dining still available?

Yes we absolutely have outdoor dining available!

Will you be open for dining this thanksgiving?

Is this restaurant still offering a tasting menu during Covid?

Yes updated version, best to check on their IG/FB account got answer before visit!

Is it first come first serve to the bar area and can you order small bites or something to share there?

    Yes to both!

Is the atmosphere quiet or loud/party type?

The room can get loud if it's full. By no means "a party".

    Is infant allow?

As a father, this is not the type of place I would bring my infant child.

    Is there a corkage fee?

    Yes $50 per bottle

For main course I had the miso cod and it was tender and very flavorful- the miso saturated the entire fish. Going forward I would have ordered a vegetable to pair with it. My husband ordered the duck and that was a bit disappointing. They hadn't rendered the fat properly so the skin was chewy rather than crisp. The duck was slightly on the tough side. On a very positive note, the wines are market price rather than the large markup you see in most restaurants. The chocolate cake was overly dense. Since it was a birthday celebration they also brought out little chocolate cream filled cups that were delicious. We will definitely return.

From the moment we checked in, the staff was friendly and welcoming, and making a reservation about a month in advance definitely paid off since the restaurant was packed. For starters, we ordered the fried chicken & cornbread and the summer peach salad. The chicken and cornbread were easily a 10/10 super crispy, well seasoned, and the cornbread was rich and buttery. The peach salad with friend goat cheese (YUM!) was really fresh and bright, a nice lighter dish to balance out everything else. I also had a glass of rose. For mains, we had the Prime Ribeye and the 7oz Harris Ranch Prime Filet, both cooked exactly how we asked and full of flavor. We shared a bottle of Duckhorn cab, and I appreciated that their wine list felt reasonably priced for the quality. We corked what we didn't finished and took it home. Final Thoughts: 4.20/5.0…read more Asian fusion brunch spots seem hard to come by around the San Jose area. There's more within the larger Bay Area space that I never really go to. My sister and I decided to divert from our original plans today and just go on a brunch date elsewhere. This is also a spot that's been on my list for the longest time and I'm only now just getting to it. Relaxing Saturday brunch day. Thinking it will be a 4 stars for me for this experience. Food: Darla's Benedict: 4.0/5 This is the classic eggs benedict. It comes with two medium poached eggs on rustic Millstone bread. On top, it will include candied bacon, tomatoes, yuzu hollandaise sauce with the side of crispy kale. The poached egg was done nicely. You can see in the video that the yolk is super runny and cooked perfectly. The bread is quite thick and does have that crispy edge on the crust. Personally, I hate tomatoes. They do put a few thin slices on it, so it wasn't enough to fully affect the taste. I did give those pieces of tomatoes away to my sister though. The yuzu hollandaise sauce is very thick and umami. The yuzu is a little overpowering for me with the acidity, but overall, there is this nice freshness to it. The candied bacon is super crispy and I really like the saltiness and sweetness to it. For the vegetable component, they provide crispy kale. Personally, I would have preferred a side of fries/potatoes/hash, fresh fruit, or something more fresh even like a side salad. The kale is nice and crispy, but it's so oily and I feel that took away more from the dish than contributed. Loco Moco No.1: 4.0/5 This is their steak river farm wagyu beef patty, grilled asparagus, picked cherry peppers, a fried egg, pomegranate, rice, parmesan mushroom, and ginger gravy. The beef patty was super tender and juicy. I wish there were more of the gravy or even if the gravy were poured over the beef. I feel like it just soaks all of it in. The gravy was super thick and umami. The ginger is very light and virtually not there almost, so I didn't realize it was there. Not a concern for me as that flavor can be overpowering. Rice leans on the dryer side for me. Definitely a preference as I'm sure others would be fine with that. For the vegetable component, I would prefer an alternative. Perhaps a fresh vegetable or side salad would work better or more mushrooms for that umami, or even a pickled veggie for that crunch. The asparagus looks nice and leans more on fine dining, but it's not significant enough to give that light and freshness to it. The flavor of it works well though. Egg was nicely cooked and had a beautiful yolk color. --------- Quality: Made to order Food was freshly made and everything came out hot to order. The kale was super crispy and like it was just fried in that oil. The loco moco was also super juicy and piping hot like it was made to order. Our plates were all nicely completed and brought out quickly it seems. Price: $$$ Their prices do lean on the higher side for a brunch. Usual prices will be around $17 to $26 with a few outliers. The Loco Moco was one of the outliers pricing at $33 for a plate. This is likely related to the beef patty. I can't say I would pay $33 for that plate. Given the form of the meat patty, I really couldn't tell the cut of the beef. Perhaps it is Wagyu, but its difficult for me to tell. Very juicy overall though. Of note, the portion sizes are smaller. They are plated on larger plates and gives more fine dining vibes, so matches the pricing. Service: Nice experience For being outside, there was still enough waiters/waitresses working, so it was fairly simple to get someone's attention to help us. They were very nice and checked in on us, which is always a plus. Very simple process and good experience with them overall. Ambiance: Shaded Outdoors and Indoors We decided to sit outdoors today given their shaded area. This was one of the highlights for me. Initially, I preferred indoor given the weather, but my sister asked if it was a shaded outdoors. It is and that's what makes it. The air felt really nice. There are pockets of sun that peak through the trees and shade, but that wasn't really a concern. Would definitely go here on another brunch date. Location/Parking: Public Parking Available This location is within downtown Saratoga area. I will say that getting in a out of here isn't the most idea, especially on a weekend where everyone wasn't to go out and spend the most of their day off. This place does have a small public parking lot. We were lucky enough to find a spot here, but will say it does partially depend on luck here.

If you're hoping to sit inside, I'd definitely recommend making a reservation. The service was wonderful from start to finish. My friend and I both ordered the smash burger and I've got to say it was easily one of the best burgers I've had in a long time. The meat was perfectly cooked and seasoned so well. The sweet potato fries were crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, and absolutely delicious. And whatever you do, DO NOT skip the bread pudding. It was a 1000/10! Not overly sweet, perfectly balanced, and the texture was incredible. If you're on the fence about dessert, just order it, you won't regret it. The only minor downside was that the sodas were very flat and tasted a bit syrupy. Other than that, everything was fantastic. The prices were reasonable, the portions were generous, and the overall experience was excellent for such a cute spot in downtown Los Gatos. Will definitely be returning soon!

The inside has booth seating and standard table seating. A nice bar area with engaging and friendly bartenders. Two separate women's restrooms and one multi-user men's restroom. From the moment we walked in, the service was outstanding! The hostess was helpful and welcoming who promptly brought us to our table and recommended some of her favorites. Our server was Therese who took excellent care of us. She was welcoming, friendly, and attentive. Also, the manager came around to check up on us, to make sure we didn't have last calls right before the kitchen closed. That was considerate. We decided on ordering the... Grilled Pork Chop: bourbon marinated grilled peach compote, peach, red onion & tomato salad (4/5). The presentation was gorgeous. A Sous vide pork chop with grill marks cooked to a medium temperature. Savory and complemented with the tangy, spicy, and tart salad. A tad heavy handed on the salt for the sauce, otherwise, it was still delicious. Gnocchi Ragu: lamb bolognese, pecorino (4/5). The meat sauce was delicious. The gnocchi itself was sizeable and decent. Fries (4/5) - medium shoe string cut fries that were hot, crispy, and lightly seasoned. So fresh and right out of the deep fryer. Parkside Bread Pudding: vanilla gelato, pecan praline (4/5). This was delicious. Therese was told by the kitchen staff that they unfortunately ran out of the pecan praline when she brought it out. Though, it was still decadent and divine. Therese even brought us a complimentary beignets for a birthday celebration. We will be back! Congratulations to Los Gatos Parkside on almost 3 years here in LG. Support your local business.

I was able to make a last minute reservation without having to commit to a deposit, which was a breath of fresh air these days. After our great experience I regret not trying the restaurant sooner, but hey, better late than never. I made reservations for 5pm on a Friday. There was ample parking at the private lot since it was still early. ASA had a pretty interior with a relaxed upscale atmosphere. Overall customer experience was exemplary. Employees were very friendly and courteous, and the wait staff was especially attentive. Also appreciated that our food came out in a timely manner. We shared the king trumpet mushroom appetizer, arrabiata pasta, and the Argentine steak, which was the perfect amount of food. Everything was incredibly flavorful and delicious. The appetizer surprised me the most with its uniqueness. The mushroom stems were cut paper thin and had the slightest essence of smokiness. Loved the chickpea puree. The Argentine steak was perfectly medium rare, and the meat itself was so tender. The fries were excellent. The fries were made the way I love them - light, airy, and crispy. Addictive and hard to resist. Lastly, the arrabiata pasta was solid. I did think the pasta was cooked 30 seconds too long, but the sauce really made up for the dish. The arbol chili and fresh garlic packed on some heat. We look forward to coming back for the steak and to try the mushroom rigatoni that everyone raves about!

We ordered the beet salad, mushroom rigatoni, Paella Valencia appetizer, and hand-cut New York steak. The Paella Valencia was the clear standout. It was the most cohesive and well-executed dish we had, with good flavor and texture throughout. This would be the one thing I'd order again. The beet salad was where we ran into the biggest issue. We specifically told our server about a peanut and tree nut allergy, and he acknowledged it, but the salad still came out with pistachios on top. They remade it, but the replacement portion looked noticeably smaller and less composed than the original. The first one had a nice amount of height and presentation, while the second felt a bit sparse. Given that the remake was due to an allergy mistake, that was disappointing. The mushroom rigatoni didn't really land for me. The pasta wasn't al dente, and the dish tasted more like garlic pasta with a large amount of mushrooms placed on top rather than a mushroom forward pasta where the flavor was actually built into the sauce. Not bad, just not particularly cohesive or memorable. The New York steak was seasoned well, but the cook was inconsistent. We ordered medium rare, and some parts were closer to that than others. It was a thick cut, so I understand there's some difficulty in getting it perfectly even, but at this price point I still expected a more consistent temperature throughout. Our server was pleasant, but check-ins were sparse, and we waited quite a while at the end just to get the check and pay. Again, this was on a Sunday evening with plenty of open tables, so there wasn't an obvious dinner rush to blame. Overall, ASA has a nice atmosphere and the paella was genuinely good, but the food execution and service were inconsistent enough that the dinner didn't quite meet expectations

We love sitting at the front of the restaurant, near the windows, it's a perfect space for parties of two. Their food portions are a good size - no tiny amounts that some may expect for French food.
