I had one of the worst dental experiences of my life at Plume Dental Implant Studio in Lathrop, CA 95330. A routine dental check-up turned into weeks of pain, frustration, and hundreds of dollars in unexpected out-of-pocket charges. I initially chose this clinic because it was near my home and I had dental insurance. During my first visit, the dentist did X-rays and an exam, then presented a comprehensive treatment plan based on my insurance. They also offered financing for uncovered costs through a partner lender, which I accepted. The plan included two price options for a crown--one with a root canal and one without. Without consulting me, the dentist decided to go ahead without the root canal, supposedly to save me money. A temporary crown was installed. That night, after the anesthesia wore off, I experienced severe pain that lasted for days. I returned to the clinic and saw a different dentist, who gave me antibiotics and painkillers and set a follow-up appointment. I had never had this level of discomfort from dental work before--couldn't eat, sleep, or function normally--and had to pay for medications myself. At the next visit, the original dentist told me a root canal was in fact necessary. He wasn't sure he could complete it and might need to refer me to a specialist. He also said I would now need to pay the root canal fee out-of-pocket because he had previously chosen not to include it in the loan. Although this fee was listed on the original plan, it was now excluded from financing due to his earlier decision. I was left paying more than expected mid-treatment. He offered me a 50% discount, which I accepted reluctantly just to move forward. To his credit, the root canal itself went okay. But when a new temporary crown was placed, it fell off within a day. The permanent crown was delayed for three weeks with no update--I had to call the office myself. When I arrived, they realized it was the wrong size and needed to remake it. Another temporary crown was placed, and guess what? It fell off again the next day. During my next visit, I was presented with yet another unexpected bill--over $100--because my insurance supposedly didn't cover some items. This was never disclosed beforehand, and those items had been part of the original treatment plan. I was told to "ask my insurance company" myself. I absolutely despise the kind of practice where pricing is agreed upon at the beginning, only for the patient to be hit with unexplained charges halfway through under vague or questionable justifications. It feels dishonest and exploitative. In the end, I endured a week of unnecessary pain, multiple return visits, added medication costs, temporary crowns that never stayed in place, crown delays, and far more out-of-pocket expenses than initially quoted. I've lost trust completely and will not be returning. I'm sharing this to help others avoid a similar experience. Dental care should be based on trust and transparency. Sadly, I found neither here. read more

I don't always go in for emergency dental care when I'm on vacation, but when I do, I go to Plume Dental in Lathrop. I recently lost a crown on a gnarly piece of bread at the Cheesecake Factory (they'll be hearing from my lawyer, lol). I set up an online appointment with Plume Dental on Saturday, and by Monday morning the Dentist was drilling away on my tooth. Not only did Plume Dental get me a permanent crown by Tuesday afternoon, but the Dentist was cool and the staff were amazing. I don't know if they make awards for front desk dental personnel, but if they do, Josephine should win it in 2021. Josephine was a rockstar with scheduling and she made sure that my insurance was totally taken care of. Overall this was a great experience and I would highly recommend this excellent team! read more

While my kids where leaving they hard the receptionist calling me out my name, i will follow-up with who ever in charge. She is bad for business. This is a review for my latest visit at the Mountain House location. I have been with Plume dental since they opened a few years ago. The dentist I had throughout the years recently left a few months ago. When I went in this time, they told me I had to do a periodontal cleaning. I told them that I prefer to just do the regular cleaning, as I noticed they don't really do anything special during the periodontal cleaning, which are done every 3 months instead of 6 months. To my surprise, the new Dentist refused to do the regular cleaning. It is not up to the dentist to decide what treatment I get. They can recommend a treatment, but ultimately, it is up to me, the patient, to decide whether I want it or not. I researched it online and all articles said the same, that the dentist can recommend the treatment but it is up to the patient to decide whether to take the recommendation or not. I DO NOT recommend the new dentist at Plume dental. Unethical. read more

Today was my first time at Plume, and my first dental appointment since 2018 unfortunately. I get anxiety being a patient, despite being a Registered Nurse, and as a child had an orthodontic appliance dropped down my throat which caused airway obstruction and a trip to the ER. I ended up fine, but the fear that created left a lasting anxiety on anything dental related. Now as an adult, I know I need to take care of my teeth and regularly see a dentist. We moved to RI 2 years ago and wanted to find an office local - and so happy we found Dr. Dhillon. He was very easy-going and nice, thorough, and made sure to address my concerns or questions. The staff is very sweet and accommodating and are very responsive. I have to go back for some treatments and for once I don't feel anxious or worried about it. I would say this is the dental office for Lathrop residents if you want a high-quality experience. read more

I picked this place because I read about Japneet Dhillon and saw he was a board certified dentist. A female dentist saw me instead - not sure of her name, but certainly wasn't the man I had read about. I had booked cleanings for myself, my husband, and child. Turns out the hygienist was out for the day so all they wanted to do were X-rays and have us come back later for cleanings. They should have told us that -1) when I made the appointment or 2) before radiating my face. I have great teeth and don't usually even need X-rays, I just like the cleaning for maintenance. I wouldn't have sat there for someone to X-ray me several times, and then not even have them show me the images, only tell me, "they're ok." It felt like a total scam rip-off. The only reason they get two stars and not one is because the dentist agreed to clean our teeth herself. It was an OK job, no flossing, which is so helpful for me and my retainer bar. I guess my first hint this wasn't going to be a good place was when they never responded to my email about whether they see 1 year olds. Why would they book an appointment for a baby if they were just going to do X-rays? He doesn't need radiation!! I do not recommend. read more

Had no dental insurance for about a year, tooth filling fell out and the pain was horrible, I finally got insurance and called Plume Dental and got in same day! Had root canal 2 days later. I love Plume. I love everything about them, especially the staff. Dr. Dhillon is great too but the staff are all just so personable and helpful and nice. The kind of nice that I'd love to invite them all to my house for a BBQ. Now this is huge because normally, I hate the dentist. Well not the actual dentist but the whole process. The drilling and the drooling and the money and the pain. It seems like no matter how much pain I'm in, I leave in more. This is not the case with Plume. My experiences here have been amazing. I went to this dental office based on the reviews, which were better than most other dentists that accepted my insurance. The office is owned by a husband/wife dental team. When I arrived for my appointment, I was told the husband, who is apparently the "regular" dentist there, was not in and I would be seen by his wife. After the xrays, etc, she looked at my teeth. In checking my gums, she pressed so hard with the tool it was painful. Then she carelessly jabbed me in the face with it and in my lip as well. She said I needed a deep cleaning (thanks to the high numbers you get when you press hard with the instrument) and a couple of crowns. I called the office twice with questions about their recommendation, but they didn't call me back. So I went to another dentist for a second opinion. The gum readings were done properly. They said I didn't need a deep cleaning and that I didn't need the crowns. read more

Rachel, the hygienist, is awesome. She's works with me. Not blame me for everything going on with my dental hygiene like the last practice that I spent $1000's of dollars at. By recommending a toothpaste and electric toothbrush, and her old school type of cleaning practices, my gums are much more healthy than before. And with my bone loss that's quite an accomplishment. The office staff is non pressure also, wish I would of found you guys sooner. read more

The staff is friendly and I liked the environment, so I'm very disappointed that they charged me fees that I did not agree to. I repeatedly asked to make sure to call my insurance and see if I was covered for a certain procedures, I verified that I was covered for a certain percentage. They supposedly did and I signed the contract with the charges that they were going to charge me (about 500$), which I paid. The dentist made a mistake during the procedure but assured me it would be fixed. The next visit, the dentist said it was fixed and the rest was finished. Fast forward a month they called me to collect (100$). I was confused and called them trying to clear up the situation and was assured they were going to get to the bottom of this. Many months later, I was sent a collection notification for twice the amount. So 1 Star for the troubles of not being clear, showing me a receipt of what I was going to be charged and not following it, not being thorough of what I was covered for, And not calling me back or emailing to clear the situation before. (I did receive a few calls before the first conversation) I knew that this was common in other shady dental practices but I had hoped this place was different. read more

Do not waste your time or money on this place. The psycho Michelle they have running the front desk has no understanding of the words customer service. She takes pleasure in being rude with a smile. Had services done here for myself and children. They will quote you one price, you pay and get service, they will then send you a bill a week later for more than you paid in house. Not sure why they check with insurance and you still get a bill afterwards. So apparently I missed a bill when I moved, never got a call or a letter in mail. Tired to take my son in today to start the process for Invisalign. When I arrive Michelle tells me I have a balance that went to collections and I need to pay before my son is seen. Flabbergasted I ask why she didn't inform when I called to make an appointment, she tells she didn't have to. From there she just continues to take joy in my bewilderment and is just plain rude. DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU DON'T want to be scammed. I literally went in there for a consultation to get bonding done on my front teeh. They convinced me to get xrays first in order to know if bonding can be done. Dr. Japneet looked at my teeth and told me right away that he can't do bonding and he suggest veneers. I do not have any complaint against the Dr. He was nice but I am so frustrated and tired of getting this threatening letter in my mail about paying them owed balance which I do not owe. I have called and messages them about this several times but I still keep getting this letter. Last time I talked to front desk they told me that its cancelled and done but I just got a letter again. My parents are super upset and its causing us so much mental distress. I paid them the same day for xray and exam the same day. They still keep asking me to pay again. I asked to talk to the Dr last time they never let me talk to him. But if he wants me to pay twice for a service then I will pay $59 happily again if that makes him rich. But this is not fair. First letter they sent me asked for $59 second letter they sent me asked for $109 and now a third letter asked for $159 and states that they are going to report me to collection. They are claiming I owe them for cancelling an appointment when I got covid. Literally covid was at high rise at the time when I got it. I have gotten all the proof and paperwork of being covid positive the say of my appointment. I called front desk that morning and told them I got covid. They still asked me to come in knowing that this could be so dangerous for all other patients and them also. Its also totally out of protocol to have a covid patient come in forcefully. I have text messages exchange with them stating if I do not come in they will make me pay for ni show. I don't think county public health services will be too happy to know that this clinic is forcing covid positive patients to come in for their appointments. That is literally the only appointment I ever made with them that I cancelled. Its not a "no show". The letter is asking me for 2 missed appointment fees. I have never made any other appointment there just the xray and consultation one. This is ridiculous. I want a manager or the dr to contact me because my husband's whole family goes to this clinic and they all are not happy hearing this. read more

I have been coming to this dentist for 2 years already and love them. They are super friendly and have great customer service.

I went for the first time today. The office is beautiful, like a little living room in someone's home. I guessed I wouldn't have treatment today, because of the issues I was seeing the doctor for. Other than a communication issue with the office, which was positively resolved, everything was smooth. Dr. Dhillon explained issues and was thorough. The treatment plan was discussed and a copy provided. Without having any work done, I can only give a 4*, but I will come back and re-rate once I have the work done. He seems to be an honest doctor, not over recommending treatment, or doing treatment he knows is wrong. One honest dentist office deserves at least 4 stars! If you have Medi-Cal/Denti-Cal I would highly recommend this office! read more

I had six cavities filled by this dentist and it was pain free, fast, and very well done. I had a cavity in one of my front teeth and the dentist somehow made my front teeth look better than before. I've also had a teeth cleaning here and it was very thorough and painless. I decided to take my husband here too due to the fact that he is very scared of dentists. The dentist sat down with him and explained everything and my husband was able to get dental work done for the first time in years. I definitely recommend this dentist. Even though I'm currently giving 4 stars, because all my procedures aren't quite completed yet, I still want to give a good word about the dental services I have received thus far. I had a filling that fell out, called up the office to schedule an appointment, the young lady that answered the phone, checked the scheduled, said, "She can get me in next week." It just so happens that within 2 days of my call to them, I was eating some food, and somehow broke the problem tooth in half, around 8 PM at night, had gotten some Temparin to try a temporary fix, this idea worked for a little bit, got on my computer typed the message board operator for their dental office, next morning Michelle contacted me about coming in for an emergency visit, I was ecstatic that She received my message an acted on it so quickly, I went in, and before I could even fill out the paperwork, I was ushered to a dental chair, for a counsel, price point, X-rays, then procedure that consisted of, taking out the part of the split- tooth, making a mold impression, root canal, doing a temporary crown impression, repairing the split tooth, which DR. Dhillon was quite adamant at saving, and then an impression mold for my permanent crowned tooth was already in process to come in 2 week period. This dentist and staff made me feel comfortable without stress or discomfort even with the root canal, I didn't have any pain, they took care of my prescription without me having to ask them, also I was expecting for a rush of pain once the local anesthetic wore off, that was not the case, I took a couple of Tylenol, woke up next morning, "good as new." So far, I'm a happy camper! I will keep you all posted about the rest of the processes. read more
