Had an emergency appointment due to swollen lymph nodes that I assumed was from a broken wisdom tooth infection I had for years. I was right. After referring me out to an oral surgeon because Dr. Zhao would be on vacation the upcoming week for an extraction. I ended up riding it out with antibiotics and she saw me that first week back for impacted wisdom tooth extraction. I did this because I felt good energy from my emergency diagnosis. I hadnt been to a dentist in 8 years. Everyone in the office was warm, caring and considerate. I needed to raise my hand quite a few times for extra novacaine because I have a higher tolerance in which the dr gave without hesitation. They paused when needed for me or themselves as it was a tricky wisdom tooth with curved roots (yay haha). I barely had pain the next few days and lived comfortably on ibuprofen/Tylenol without issues. I plan to go back for my deep cleaning because of this experience, not as scared as I used to be. They're prices match and they're fully transparent ahead of the work completed. They aren't after a wallet. read more

Love the workers here at Shirley Zhao, DDS! I had a lot of work needed to be done for my teeth due to my huge neglect as a child and they made sure everything got done in a timely manner. I never had to wait an unreasonable amount of time for an appointment and they always gave great advice to take care of my teeth. Went here based off reviews, I was okay after my first initial cleaning , but then they said i needed crowns and this and that , pretty much paying a lot out of pocket. What I didn't like was the little girl that works reception. Very snippy with attitude. All I wanted to do was to reschedule my appointment because I'm an EMT and I work late nights and originally they had scheduled me for later in the day but then they call me back. Oh can you come in earlier so I didn't really have a choice so I excepted that and then the day of I call hours in advance to let them know that I was stuck in traffic due to work and then automatically went straight to"Oh well that's a $50 rescheduling fee" man I'm done I'm good I'll find another place receptionist was being rude so no I'm good. I had searched around into finding a dentist that would be friendly, great with their work and wouldn't try to deceive me from my money. After multiple dentist, this place definitely was it. The receptionist Wanda, is so personable. She's amazing! Not to mention all the dentist assistants are beyond friendly and always have your needs first. Lastly, the dentist, in particular Dr. Armstrong is outstanding! He does amazing work, explains everything thoroughly and never makes you feel obligated to do things. HIGHLY recommend this office! I chose Dr. Zhao's office for a dental cleaning based on the great reviews on Yelp. I am giving this office two stars, and although staff is friendly, my first time experience here was not good. The dental assistant that completed my cleaning was very friendly but this is the most discomfort I've experienced after a cleaning and I brush and floss my teeth several times a day so I know it's not me. I'm on day four after my cleaning, and eating is still painful. I don't know what she did to my gums , but I know this is not normal to experience this much discomfort after a routine procedure. I even developed a painful bump where I had an extraction years ago, which I don't understand why the assistant would even touch that area if it's just gum tissue. Prior to this appointment, I have been proactive with my cleanings every 6 months with a different dentist, and never experienced any discomfort. After my cleaning I was expecting to see Dr. Zhao, however, another dentist assisted me which was fine, but again, I picked this place solely on the reviews from Yelp for Dr. Zhao, and she didn't examine me. For much higher co pays than other places, I would of expected higher quality treatment. Unfortunately I will not be coming back here. read more

I do not normally make reviews but I have had so many unpleasant experiences for the past 3 years going to this dental office. I have been giving them so many chances these past 3 years under their care and I WILL NOT BE COMING BACK. The first time I had just moved to Tracy, I was scheduled in the morning and I threw up from the harsh fluoride they used. The second time was a routine cleaning and checkup, but the other dentist (Not Dr. Zhao) kept digging her nail into my gum. When I attempted to tell her, she got visibly frustrated and basically yelled at me to stop moving. I had a panic attack and yelled at her to stop and she was so aggravated she let out a loud grr then lectured me on how I was disturbing her work. I told the front desk lady and said that the dentist cut her nails. So basically dismissed what I had said. I also got a filling from the same lady as my tooth chipped a year ago and now that filling is already gone and I have to get it done again. Cosmetic dentistry is her "specialty" but appearantly shes not very good bc it didnt even last a year. The last and final straw was the last time I went. The dental hygienist or dental assistant told me that I had signs of pre-gum disease and pre-diabetes. That was also the most uncomfortable and hurtful teeth cleaning I have ever had in my life. I felt that it was a deep cleaning and they didn't tell me. I was bleeding a lot and could taste the blood in my mouth. I fainted in the chair from shock of this news and they laughed at me when I said I lost a lot of blood from my teeth cleaning and dismissed it as faint at the sight of blood, but I work with blood in my lab everyday??? I freaked out and asked the doctor to confirm, but the dentist said everything looked HEALTHY. They gave me food and water after I had fainted, but the second I was okay it seemed as they wanted me out of the office ASAP so pretty sure they just wanted to save their own asses and not have me as a liability. My dad was in the waiting room and asked what happened and the dental hygienist/assistant said I HAD TOLD HER that I had pre-diabetes???? Afterwards, they kept sending me a form to update my health issues but I don't have any prior to this experience, I am a healthy 22 year old. I did not fill them out because I will not be coming back. Only positive is that the receptionist is nice and accommodating. If you decide to choose this office, make sure to request Dr Zhao only. She is only there twice a week. There are 2 dentists and the other one is very rude and aggressive. I personally will not be coming back after multiple instances of rudeness and bad patient care. These are my personal experiences I wanted to share. Go to another dental office! read more

My old dentist no longer accepted Delta Dental, so I had to find a new dentist. Dr Zhao was able to schedule me an appointment within a few days. The staff is extremely polite, professional, and efficient. I didn't have a long wait time at all. I just went in for a normal check up but, Dr. Zhao took her time and made sure to ask if I had any concerns. Definitely recommend if you're looking for a new dentist. read more

I really appreciate the kind staff and very efficient timing. I came in as a first time patient and was very excited to get my cleaning done after a long period of delays. They must have cleaned my teeth within minutes and thoroughly assessed my teeth which I take pride in especially with me having braces and retainers as a kid. I love how they are nice and friendly also ensured that your smile and teeth are nice and also healthy. They were also easy going and very warm and did not feel like they wanted you in and out and just treat you like a number but instead actually asked how you are doing and take the time to know you prior to your visit. I highly recommend this dentistry team and core group to help you find a solid dentist and a good environment to get your pearly whites clean. My first visit and cleaning with Dr. Zhao was great but I was then scheduled for some fillings and a Deep cleaning as recommend a few weeks later. When I came in for those I was helped by another Dentist at the office and didn't think anything of it until I received my bills. My insurance said the dentist was not in network and that they were dropped a few month prior. After talking to the office about it they said he was retiring soon but they would/did give me the in network cost and wrote off the extra costs. Although after looking over my bills and calling my insurance asking what the in network and out of network costs should be I found that not only did I get charged by Dr. Zhao's office more then I should have for an in network fee schedule but that they charged even more then the out of network costs. There service was great but if you don't pay attention to your bills and just pay what ever they say you owe you may be surprised to find out there screwing you and the insurance company. read more

This office literally lied to me to render my dental service for my family and I. They called our dental insurance company and said we had coverage and she broke down line for line our co-pays of roughly $660. After we received our dental work she then stated we actually were not covered with our insurance and we owed $1800 more. Never once did I receive a phone call or letter stating this information, but of course she claimed I did. Now the 'office manager' stated she will send us to collections of we don't pay the additional $1800. Obviously I would have never received my dental services if we were not covered and now they want to stick me with the bill even though they made the mistake. DO NOT GO TO THIS DENTAL OFFCIE BECAUSE THEY WILL SCAM YOU FOR YOUR MONEY. I will be contacting the BBB as well. read more

This was my first time seeing Dr. Armstrong. Arrived on time and was seen right away. My husband, kids and myself was there for a checkup and cleaning. I also had a sensitive tooth that needed to be addressed. Dr. Armstrong was very professional and showed a lot of care when addressing my concerns. The staff was extremely nice and helpful as well.
