I've only be here for high tea. They hold it Mon-fri from 2-4p and its wonderful. I've searched high and low for a "better" tea time in the Austin and surrounding areas and have yet to find one. Fantastic first visit to this new Resturant. Service was great, food was top notch & tasty! We all had the burgers with French Fries and then family took advantage of the homemade desserts (all made In house) - we were pleasantly surprised to find out the banana pudding is egg-Free! Nice! A few notes: They serve alcohol, the beautiful Resturant is perfectly chilled - so you might want to bring a sweater if you get chilly easily. Comfortable seating. Locally owned and run. The food is very good. Service is excellent. Temperature was a little on warm side. They need to work on getting better climate control inside. Flies were also quite numerous inside. Portion size was on small side for the price of an item. Overall a good experience for first time. read more

I can't say enough good about this place. Since we had the dog we asked to sit outside. It was a such a wonderful morning after a stormy night. The nice lady at the greeting stand looked a bit perplexed and said they didn't have staff to serve outside yet but then cheerfully said "It's ok. We will make it work.". According to the waitress we were the first ones to be seated outside since they opened. Apparently it looked like a good idea because two other parties asked to sit outside as well (Sorry/not sorry if it started a thing). Kudos for going the extra mile and letting us enjoy the nice morning with our dog! We did promise to be low maintenance and not need much. It didn't matter, the service was attentive and spot on. My GF had the salmon croquettes. Not to say they were good, but she would take a bite and then tell me again how good they were. I think she even posted pics of the food (she never does this, so it must have been tasty). I had the breakfast buffet. Everything was delicious, but what stood out the most were the grits, thick slices of bacon and nice slabs of ham. Best of all, they brought our Aussie a bowl of whipped cream. This place is a really great place to eat when you want southern comfort food. The pies are delicious and on my Nephews birthday they gave a free slice of pie. I ate the chicken fried chicken crisp on the outside juicy on the inside. Grits have twist to them which you have to try. The customer service is always very concerning to you what you need while you're visiting and polite as usual. They have a bar as well. My favorite place in Taylor. What a gem! This establishment is housed in the old high school band hall and decorated with a mix of whimsy, nostalgia, and cool music paraphernalia. The staff are all super friendly and you are welcomed as soon as you make your way inside. I enjoyed their shrimp tacos and my partner had a plate of biscuits and gravy (side note: breakfast all day is a possibility here!). My tacos were delicious and perfectly seasoned and the biscuits and gravy were on point. We usually don't opt for a dessert because it's usually the same old tired lava cake business, but when we saw the home made desserts we just couldn't resist. Let me tell you about the desserts. Fresh out of the oven peach cobbler and the naughtiest sugary buttermilk pie on the planet. Texture was heaven. Like, I'm still thinking about that pie and it's been a week. Well, to start, I had heard mixed reviews about this place. Because it was local, which I absolutely support, I had to give it a try. The food was good, not great, but good. It's a good thing we didn't want steak because they were out. We ordered salmon croquettes without the dipping sauce on top, and we were told no problem because they were out of it, yet it arrived with the sauce on top. When a young waitress brought 1/2 of the meals out, she spilled a cup of ketsup all down my sons arm and onto his white shirt. Although she apologized, she never brought napkins to replace the ones we had to use cleaning up. The host and primary waiter were really nice, though. It was also much cooler outside then it was inside, and we couldn't enjoy our meal due to the flies, which were pretty bad. We showed up for our date night we decided to stay in Taylor and keep it chill so we went with Plowman's. Although the service was a bit frantic it was perfectly paced and we got what we needed. The food was amazing, and the drinks were unique and delicious. To top it off they gave us the gold booth in the corner I guess the manager could tell we were a little dressed up for something. Haha. This was my second time visiting Plowman's. Today we stopped in for a late lunch. We had an absolutely wonderful server named Sean. He was very attentive and personable with our table. Made our first visit for lunch. Not much to look at from outside but the gravel parking lot was full of cars. The interior is great with lots of memorabilia reflecting the previous use as the band hall. Lots of light from those great old windows schools used to have. The staff was outstanding. There were plenty of servers and we were well looked after by Ashley. The menu is pretty extensive and definitely a cut above what's normal for Taylor. My wife had meatloaf with mashed potatoes and vegetables. I had the Cuban sandwich with fries. Neither were the best we've ever had but were certainly good enough to order again. My wife finished with a coffee that was nice and strong. Overall our bill was $30 without tip and was worth the experience. We didn't do dessert this time but will definitely try the warm apple pie on our next visit. We can't wait to try a Sunday morning breakfast. It's fantastic that this place is open 8 AM to 10 PM and serve most everything all day. We will be back often. read more

This old restaurant which once was part of a high school is tucked away in the middle of houses. Looks like it was the band room with all the unique lighting and decor. We love to try Brussels if they have them on the starters menu and they do. They were a mix of fresh mushrooms, red peppers and Brussels topped with balsamic. My fiancé ordered shrimp Alfredo and I had the pear Gorgonzola (w/o dairy) and it was delicious. The dressing was delightful. They turned instruments into lamps and drums into chandeliers. Taylor is such a cute historic town close to home and we enjoy visiting it. There's lots more to explore there. read more

Good prices, delicious food, great decor and ambience. This is small town cookin at its best! Tucked away in a little neighborhood, Plowman's looks like a repurposed one classroom school building. There's a ton of items that nod towards marching band, which makes it a fun eatery. My tuna sandwich was one of the best I've had. Service was fast, friendly and attentive. If ever in this area for work again, I'll be sure to stop by. And this time I'll get the red velvet cake too! read more

Stumble upon this location by following a billboard sign.  At first we giggled as we pulled up to a school.  We were like are we at the right place.  Afterwards we got it- it's in a band hall with band decorations.  The atmosphere was homey.  Waitress was extremely helpful.  Always kept the soda refilled without asking.  We had the fried green tomatoes and give them 2 thumbs up.  Had a strawberry salad and the dressing was delicious. While visiting my mom I got to experience this place for high tea and for Mother's Day brunch; both were amazing! This is an adorable place with some of the most fresh food and wonderful service I've had at any restaurant. The only down side is that I don't live close enough to visit frequently. read more

We were looking for something a little different than the more than abundant south of the border (don't get me wrong, we love TexMex!) fare that is on almost every other corner here in Central Texas. Plowman's offers great selections of appetizers and the same with entrees. The space is great! The old Taylor High band hall, with all the musical instrument accents for decor. Great spot in Taylor, TX. It's a old school band hall setup as a restaurant, the food was exceptional. The Brussels sprouts app wasn't my style and it was a little hot inside. But considering it's a 100+ out not a big deal or unexpected. Great place for dinner and you should check it out. read more

Well what can I say hmmmmmm not much, the waitress was just not interested in the task at hand I guess cause when I asked for thousand island for my salad that seemed to be the wrong thing to ask for, crackers was another, the entree was not much more engaging of a conversation, I asked for a chicken fried steak and if the cook had noticed he/she didn't leave it the deep frier long enough, when I cut in to it the condensation of being frozen ran out on the plate with the blood, crispy fries which came out soggy and crunchy, and the tea is nothing to write home about, I just left it and went to taco bell( which is a discussion in itself), this was supposed to be the top of the mark................
