I got the eggs benedict came with cottage fries. Hubs got the Philly cheesesteak special. Baby girl got the cheeseburger kids meal. Definitely one of the better food experiences I've had in a while. They have gluten free options. I really wanted to try one of their delicious dessert items but we needed to get home but there's always next. Ok! They have the absolutely best cakes, pies and cookies. I tried their coconut meringue pie and strawberry cake. Both are the best anywhere! They have some gluten free options. Next on the list for me is trying the key lime meringue pie, and the chocolate one also. These are all made in their own bakery on site. Did I mention the multiple cheese cake varieties? Packed up the family and drove out to Taylor from Pflugerville since we were tired of the nearby breakfast options, we were not disappointed. At first we questioned the decision when we noticed the location looked like an old school cafeteria, but once inside, we found it well decorated and nostalgic. Our server Emily was friendly and gave us a quality rundown of the menu, we sampled several breakfast items but especially liked the French Toast, Shrimp n Grits, Sausage, Home Fries and cant forget the awesome coffee. This is a very neat restaurant that use to be an old high school in Taylor. The layout is nice and I felt it was plenty of space between seating which I liked. Our waitress was very nice and made sure to check on us. I had the Salmon croquettes which in my personal opinion lacked flavor as well as the tortilla soup. Again this is just my personal opinion as everyone's taste buds differ. I do intend to visit again as they have other delicious options like the meatloaf and the bbq shrimp! The food is delicious- particularly the salmon. The strawberry salad comes with these candied pecans that I think they should bag and sell But the dessert.. is amazing. This is one of those "local yokel" places that serves up excellent traditional Texas fare (CFS, steak, breakfast all day, biscuits and gravy, etc.) and offers some fantastic non-traditional food (beet salad, brussel sprout appetizer, Ham and Jam sandwich, etc.). They make their own desserts too, however it's always hard to save room for it. Just order it and take it home for later. They converted the old Taylor Elementary School band hall into this restaurant. And while it's quaint, it is a bit small. Get there early if you want seating or be prepared to wait. Going during "off hours" is what we normally do. Service can be a little slow, but the great food makes it worth the wait. read more

Wow! I can't say enough about what a gem this special place was for our family! I ordered the filet and it was prob. One of the best I've ever had. Cooked and seasoned perfectly with a side salad and fresh sweet seasonal fruit. My daughter ordered the tortilla soup and her soup tasted like a homemade green enchilada In soup form. My husband and son ordered breakfast items at 3pm (full kitchen all day!) and the pancakes And biscuits were fluffy and perfect. The host/waiter John was impeccable. Came here after hearing rave reviews to be pretty disappointed. First thing was the fairly long wait to be seated which is understandable since we had a table of 8. Once we get seated the experience didn't get my better. I ordered a Caesar salad as one of my sides with my meal, but wasn't told they were out of Caesar dressing until my order was already fully made. I also ordered the chicken fried steak and was highly disappointed due to it being the size of a hockey puck or maybe slightly smaller. Definitely NOT a good deal for the price. The ONLY bright spot of the entire experience would be our server Kileigh. She was an EXCELLENT server and she was sincerely apologetic for the substandard service we were receiving. BLUF: Ok food. Dessert was by far the best part. Prepare for a long wait. Wife ordered pot roast. She loved it. Tender and flavorful. I ordered the beet salad and tomoto basil soup. The beet salad was basically a side salad. It was ok. The tomato soup tasted and looked like spaghetti sauce. It was way too thick. I had caramel apple pecan pie for dessert and my wife had cherry cobbler. Both were delicious. Service was not good. We will give it one more try before giving up on it. read more

It didn't taste homemade. It was missing that lemony taste hollandaise usually has... it tasted like it could be out of a can or a mix. It was too sweet. The prices were good. Pie slices were SHOCKINGLY expensive. $13 for TWO slices. Service was slow. read more

We came into town to help my son set up his home he just bought in Taylor just a few blocks away and had breakfast here. Right from entering we go a big Texas friendly hello. Our waiter Sean was a great guy and shared the history of the building which explained the decor. He even share with us to visit the nearby businesses in the big building. Truly a excellent waiter and attentive. Sean even shared he has a friend in OC , Ca. Now the food...being from CA I had to have biscuits and gravy, the biscuits could stand alone but the gravy with a fried egg on top was so yummy and filling. Great coffee too! My family all got the basic egg breakfast and loved it. The apple jam was the jam! A must place to eat breakfast. I noticed that they have a bar too.. next visit for sure! This place is a really great place to eat when you want southern comfort food. The pies are delicious and on my Nephews birthday they gave a free slice of pie. I ate the chicken fried chicken crisp on the outside juicy on the inside. Grits have twist to them which you have to try. The customer service is always very concerning to you what you need while you're visiting and polite as usual. They have a bar as well. My favorite place in Taylor. First time for my buddy and me but our wives have been a couple of times. A very pleasant surprise in Taylor. Upscale comfort food with many more things that I want to try including a wide selection of killer desserts. We came for lunch and my wife and I had the lunch special: a huge baked potato stuffed with pulled pork (and I was planning to eat light.) My buddy had a big BLT and his wife had the veggie sandwich. We all chowed down and ultimately waddled out. We had an interesting server, John P. A hoot to be sure. He seemed a little distant at first but turned out to be really funny not to mention totally service oriented. We hated not to sample the drool-provoking baked goods in the pie/cake case but committed to do so when we come back soon for dinner. Well, to start, I had heard mixed reviews about this place. Because it was local, which I absolutely support, I had to give it a try. The food was good, not great, but good. It's a good thing we didn't want steak because they were out. We ordered salmon croquettes without the dipping sauce on top, and we were told no problem because they were out of it, yet it arrived with the sauce on top. When a young waitress brought 1/2 of the meals out, she spilled a cup of ketsup all down my sons arm and onto his white shirt. Although she apologized, she never brought napkins to replace the ones we had to use cleaning up. The host and primary waiter were really nice, though. It was also much cooler outside then it was inside, and we couldn't enjoy our meal due to the flies, which were pretty bad. No. Again. No. Horrific food. Expensive and served cold. After too long a wait. It wasn't crowded when we arrived on the cold, rainy October evening, but it took 25 minutes for our entrees to arrive. No excuse for that kind of "service." When it did finally arrive, the batter on the chicken fried chicken was inedible; gravy was cold and already congealed into lumps when served. Cheese grits also had huge lumps, was cold, and could have been better used to caulk a boat. Had to pay an "up charge" to even order it, adding insult to injury. Wife's pulled pork nachos were initially stone cold, then remade, but were still barely warm. The guacamole on top was not palatable. More salt than any other ingredient. Then there was the matter of the fresh fruit side dish, comprising a few paltry grapes, three or four blueberries, and apple chunks drenched in lemon juice. Ugh. Topping off the evening, our waiter represented the chocolate meringue pie was available "to go." When he brought the chocolate disaster to me in a plastic box, I was disgusted. The crust was smashed and mixed throughout the filling, the peaks of meringue had been scraped off and replaced with a few squiggles if cool whip or some similar product. It looked like a cow patty. Great food and great service! We ordered the filet mignon, meatloaf, chicken fried chicken, pear Gorgonzola salad, chocolate buttermilk pie, and brownie! All of which were amazing. The gravy on the chicken fried chicken wasn't our favorite but everything else was so amazing that we didn't evening think twice about it. Our server was so darn sweet and highly recommend sitting in her section if you can. I think her name was Kylee or Kaylee. The theme of the restaurant was also really neat. It's the old Taylor high school band hall. FYI there is no mask requirement and staff are not wearing masks. When we went there, though, were only two other tables seated in the whole restaurant and we only had the one server the whole time. We went at 7:15pm. read more

We showed up for our date night we decided to stay in Taylor and keep it chill so we went with Plowman's. Although the service was a bit frantic it was perfectly paced and we got what we needed. The food was amazing, and the drinks were unique and delicious. To top it off they gave us the gold booth in the corner I guess the manager could tell we were a little dressed up for something. Haha. Went here today for breakfast and was a little disappointed. I will revisit, and give them a second chance, although I said I would not. They had some complications with lack of water and tried to still make my breakfast, basic eggs Benedict with house potatoes. Although one egg was poached perfectly, the other was very runny. The potatoes had a good taste however were not cut the same size so while some were done others were hard as a rock. Coffee was good and the overall presentation of the plate was nice. As I said, they had water problems so while I did appreciate the effort, they most likely should have just told me they would need to close and I would have been understanding. Also having no water creates a health issue if you are unable to wash your hands. I'll give them another try and hopefully my experience will be better. If so, I will also upgrade the stars. Side note, the location is really nice with an unusual history. Seemed very clean. read more

A very cute little spot for breakfast. We stopped in on a Friday morning for breakfast & it was a great start to the day. The interior decor is very cute and cozy, with a bunch of twinkling lights and old band items hanging around. The food was pretty good, I had ordered just a simple breakfast of eggs, toast, potatoes and bacon which is pretty hard to mess up but it actually was delicious. There was quite a bit of a wait for the two of us to get a table even though there was only one person ahead of us and there were quite a few empty tables. I'm assuming this is because they didn't have many servers, and the one that we had was very sweet. Overall a nice simple place to stop in for breakfast! read more

I've only be here for high tea. They hold it Mon-fri from 2-4p and its wonderful. I've searched high and low for a "better" tea time in the Austin and surrounding areas and have yet to find one. Everything is always perfect and delicious! You can feed 2 for around $25. They have such a beautiful setup and plenty of tea cups and pots to choose from. I definitely recommend! read more
