I ordered a Fleur de Violet to start the night, made with St. Rémy, lavender syrup, Absolut pear, and lavender bitters, creating an incredibly refreshing floral drink. Alongside it, I ordered the Pesto Chicken Sandwich, which is grilled chicken with mozzarella, red pepper, and, of course, a housemade pesto served on ciabatta. I was starved, and it hit the spot. Super flavorful and filling, plus it came with a side of kettle chips. After my drink, I shifted to a pour of Lone Star in a frosted glass, and the bartender gave us a show to watch as he poured it. The two guys working the main restaurant were quite sociable and friendly. The spot was pretty busy into the evening before we shifted into the speakeasy side of the restaurant for a final drink. I got their Hemingway, made with Flor de Caña, grapefruit, lime, and maraschino liqueur. Another fine drink! The speakeasy is like a second space in itself and even more engrossing and enthralling than the main restaurant. I told her he was a service dog and I think she said well he has to have his vest with the worst attitude. I did as she requested and removed the dog from the building and sat outside with my dog. This was a work meeting for me with clients and she embarrassed me, upset my clients and honestly I have never seen someone so passionate about kicking out a cute shih-tzu in my life. It was like she was having a bad day or something and she wanted to take it out on me. I have been coming to the vineyard over a decade and I've never seen a sign saying no pets allowed maybe the rules changed, and I will gladly comply if they did, but it was not that the fact that she asked me to remove the dog, it was the tone and the way she yelled at me that was so concerning and I think as a vineyard you should know about this incident and that lots of people have pets, Austin is a pet friendly city and she could have been a lot kinder and use some customer service skills to get her point across with the little class and grace that you expect from a vineyard establishment. Everyone is there to have a good time and have a meaningful experience with the staff, not get yelled by an unhinged employee. I have nothing but good things to say about the other employees, everyone is always kind and gracious. Next time we return Louis will have his service dog vest on.
