After reading the reviews for plentea, y'all are some salty ass customers. They're obviously new, and the baristas are still learning the recipes. Rather than thinking about what you want, and staring at their menu, call out to the barista, even when it's busy. Ask them what they're good at making, what they recommend, and why. Because the drink they like most is most likely the drink they're best at making. Kevin (the barista) recommended the Brown sugar ice milk with egg pudding and it was amazing!! His customer service went above and beyond, where he asked the other barista if he could personally make my drink simply because he recommended it. Every barista has their best drink and keep in mind that the sugars that they use are homemade! If anything is wrong or your drink taste weird, the employees there are more than happy to fix it for you! read more

I was really excited to see Plentea open on Durant! I've tried their SF location before, and I liked it. I ordered the matcha latte. While the service was friendly, the boba disappointed. I agree with other reviewers that it was very watery, and not enough matcha flavor for me. I might be back to try something else, but there are much better places nearby! read more

I love that this place uses unsweetened almond milk and REAL fruit in their drinks. No powders or artificial crap clogging up my body. Now I can have boba without the guilt! I love the taro with boba and almond milk. They always give me plenty of boba and real taro pieces. It's never too sweet either. My only complaint is the bottles. They are super cute, but there's no lid and it's somewhat inconvenient. They say to bring it back to use again...but honestly, how many people really do that? I do like the idea of recycling glass over using plastic though. read more

Went here with two of my friends, and the place is super cute. I ordered an avocado shake with 75% sugar and as I tasted it, it tasted like straight up milk. I was debating if I should say something because I knew I probably threw them off with the 75% sugar. I realized that I could not stand the taste of milk alone so I went back and told them that I only tasted milk. The lady that was working said something along the lines of "it was probably because of the less sugar u requested" yeah true. But it shouldn't be tasting like straight up milk either you know :/ they made me another drink and it was better and an actual avocado shake. read more

The absolute worst Boba places I have ever been to. I ordered a jasmine green tea with two toppings. Cost $6, the price of almost two bobas at nearby places. I had high expectations given the price and glass jar my drink came in. But these expectations were shattered when I took a sip. The tea was absolutely tasteless. Very little sugar, a lot of ice. I was infuriated when I realized I had just paid $6 for colored water in a Mason jar. Don't make my mistake. Avoid this place by all means. If you really want Plentea... Take out your Brita and filter some tap water. Pour it in a glass bottle so it looks cool. Top it off with crushed dreams and disappointments. Chuck $6 out the window. They said their tea is organic from Yunnan which is China which I l'm pretty sure is still dirt cheap. Creama is ok. And Its not even sweet. Are they even skimping on syrup?? Prices are very expensive for the quality. I just threw away $5.40 for some mildly flavored tap water. Ive been to their sf downtown location, the oolong crema there is very good even also expensive there. The best items on the menu are the ice milks and fruit smoothies according to the employees. WOW!!! This place made a massive comeback that no one saw coming. Old review: Plentea serves expensive coffee disguised as "Nutella boba tea" from a beautiful, hipster shop. The flavors that came to mind weren't traditionally sweet and creamy, but watery and bitter. The glass jar was a nice touch albeit not enough to redeem the tea itself. I was excited that a Plentea opened around my alma mater - there are many yummy boba places in Berkeley and looked forward to adding another to the list. I had the jasmine green milk tea, and it was tasteless. There isn't even a strong tea taste or milk taste... it's just very bland and watered down. They just opened a few days ago, so I may give this a place another chance later when they're more settled down. I'm glad to see that their Yelp business got put up so I could write my review for it. Overall, very underwhelming quality of drink, but good service and aesthetic. I heard about a Plentea opening up in Berkeley and I was surprised to see how close it was to Unit 3 and the campus. What I didn't expect was how small the actual store would be. It's actually a small room with no room for seating. Granted that it was the second day of operation, the line was going out the door. I ordered a sea salt creama Oolong tea with boba and less ice. I got my drink quickly, especially considering how busy they were. My drink definitely looked good for a picture. I think Plentea's strength lies with their aesthetic and clean looks. However, I wasn't very pleased when I tried my drink. The tea tasted slightly bland and could be sweeter. The creama was alright, but I wouldn't go to Plentea just for that. Fortunately, their boba was great. I really enjoyed the consistency and texture of their boba. The bottle itself is fairly small, so my drink didn't last very long. One positive aspect of Plentea is their staff. Although they were having some technical issues with the register, the cashier and workers tried to get drinks out as quickly as they could to the customers. As I mentioned earlier, I got my drink very quickly, so another plus on their side. Their manager was very patient with the technical difficulties, regardless of the piling line ahead of them. Overall, not a very positive experience. I don't think I'll be coming back to Plentea. I did get a nice bottle out of it, however. But, because of this, the overall price of the drink was a tad bit high. Plentea is the type of place you go to for an Instagram post or aesthetic picture. If that's what you're looking for, by all means, try it out. If you're looking for better quality boba, feel free to take a look at my opinions on other tea places in Berkeley. Edit: The owner of Plentea has graciously replied to my review with some clarification. The price of the drink is due to the high quality tea and organic ingredients they use, not the bottle. The location of Plentea is incredibly convenient- it's easy to walk from campus to pick up a bottle of tea. I particularly enjoy the mason jars for their transportability (the caps they provide makes it easy to stow away at any time, without fear of spilling all over my bag). It is more pricey than other boba shops around, but the quality of ingredients shows. I'm partial to sweeter drinks myself, so the shop's menu doesn't perfectly align with my tastes- but for days where I crave more high end, non syrupy drinks, Plentea is the way to go. Customer service is excellent. When she noticed my friend and I trying to decide on a drink, the cashier offered us samples to help facilitate our decision. That being said, I feel uncomfortable with how the cashiers often refers to me by the name that is on my card. I recall back when they would ask for the name I would like to be referred, and it saddens me that they seemed to have swapped from personalized customer service for a mediocre attempt at efficiency (if staff wants faster lines, the best way to go about it is to assign numbers instead). I enjoy dropping by Plentea and I do enjoy the drinks they make, but this shop gets 4 out of 5 for reasons mentioned above. read more

I got their classic black milk tea with half & half the other day, tastes like Hong Kong style milk tea. So, good, but not what you would get if you wanted the standard black milk tea. Maybe going with the non-dairy creamer will get you that though. Nothing to say about the sugar levels, since I drink mine without. Staff was also very friendly in answering my questions. There are many bubble tea shops in Berkeley and I've tried many but I really like Plentea. They have a lot of different kind of drinks to choose from. I usually go for the classic milk tea with their house blend black. The black tea base is very flavorful. The young ladies who work there are super friendly. I especially appreciate it when they bring the drinks to me, they mention that "let me know if there is any adjustment you would like". I also like the fact that you can take the drinks to go in glass bottles, which you can bring back and redeem them for free drinks if you collect a few. Of course there is the choice of having the drinks to go in regular plastic cups if you don't live around there. A great idea to help contribute to the environment. read more

I live right around the neighborhood, so this is a spot I frequently visit. Their price point is high, but they do throw in some nice discounts, such as 5% off (I believe) if you bring in a used bottle--hopefully, this adds to the decrease in waste! Also, today I really enjoyed how the store manager quickly changed out our boba (my boyfriend had ordered a coffee milk tea, without realizing that it was going to taste just like coffee...) for another flavor when we requested. We ordered the black milk tea, sea salt crema, and apple black tea. The milk tea was watery, sea salt crema too salty, and apple black tea tasted like water. The pearls were also kind of small and undercooked. Tonight marks my second time visiting Plentea. I was walking nearby with my boyfriend, who said "Oh it's the place with the ~aesthetic~ bottles!" so naturally we had to try lol. First visit: Decent selection of drinks, friendly cashier who took time to explain their concept to us. The inside is very Instagram-worthy, especially given the good lighting within the space. We ordered 2 black milk teas with boba - we were offered a selection of milks but weren't sure. We asked the cashier's advice about what boba places normally use, and they said we'd probably be most accustomed to nondairy creamer so we opted for that. We didn't mention anything with regard to sweetness. We got our ~aesthetic~ bottles in no time, and the barista encouraged us to taste our drinks to make sure we liked them. I trusted my boyfriend's judgement without trying it myself - definite mistake! It was quite bitter, though I could tell the taste of the tea was higher quality than normal boba shops. I still drank all of it, though I was a bit disappointed as I consider boba a "special occasion" dessert and was looking forward to it. That night, I looked up the ingredients of nondairy creamer and was shocked at the trans fat content lol. I vowed go back to Plentea, as I really appreciate their milk options. Second visit: Ordered black milk tea with half/half (recommended by cashier) and 75% sweetness. When I asked, another friendly cashier advised that Plentea had roughly 50% less sweetness compared to a normal boba shop. Again, I was encouraged to try the drink - I did, and it was more sweet, but in retrospect I wish I had asked to have it altered. It was still far less sweet than I'd hoped. I'd say Plentea 75% sweetness = Sharetea 25% sweetness. Another thing I noticed was that the bobas themselves are smaller and harder than I'm accustomed to - I prefer the very soft bobas of cheaper shops whereas these were more gummy candy-like. I really enjoy the beautiful glass bottles, though I think I will have to start using them for plants as I don't really have room for them to start piling up. I wish there was a recycling spot for them within the Plentea location so I didn't have to take it with me. I also agree with another reviewer that the quantity of tea is a little less than other boba shops. Overall though I like the bottles and they definitely attract people to visit the location. Bottom line: hospitable service, great location, possibility for aesthetic snapchats, price only SLIGHTLY higher than other boba places, hopefully a bit more sustainable with regard to the bottles themselves. Definitely increase your desired sweetness by 25-50% upon ordering. Hopefully Plentea will conform to Berkeley's expected sweetness levels or start really emphasizing the sweetness difference to customers! read more

their cold brew teas, especially the fruit ones, are remarkably weak. the only two good things about this place are 1. its glass bottles which are more environmentally conscious compared to all the boba stores around berkeley that use nonrecyclable plastics and 2. its restraint on sugar. even at full sweetness, their teas are not very sweet. honestly every boba connoisseur in berkeley knows that you go to plentea for the aesthetic and not for the actual drinks. read more

I just went earlier today...I read an article about the opening of Plentea, close to Unit 3. I saw a line out the door and it took about thirty five minutes before I got to order. I was debating between the Grapefruit Green Tea and the Lavender Lemonade. I went with Lavender Lemonade, because the article I had read about said it was good. When I got home and tried it, it tasted absolutely disgusting. I would NOT recommend it at all and especially with that wait time. I'm probably just going to throw the rest of my drink.
