Pretty solid spot! The burrito pastor was absolutely huge and quite good. There were definitely pieces of meat that were just fat, but I think pastor is going to be like that. Our servers were also very accommodating and super efficient. Would definitely come back. read more

Visiting family in northern Maryland, they knew we enjoyed Mexican food so they brought us here. Plus two nieces were taking advantage of the free Line Dance lessons held in the basement of the restaurant. We watched all the dancers and agreed we could never remember all the steps if we tried After a bit we went upstairs into the restaurant. Wow! A real sensory trip into modern Mexico. The place is decorated to the max! Seating was arranged into booths around the perimeter and tables within, with very comfy padded seats and ease of moving about. We were seated immediately, given menus, chips and salsa, and even a small dish of queso blanco - which is always extra elsewhere. We ordered Table-side Guacamole and were treated to a show and delicious Guac. I asked for, and was brought, a dish of hot salsa that was tasty and with a good amount of heat. Sis-in-law chose the Sonora Pollo, my wife picked the Burrito Fajitas, and bro-in-law went for the Quesdilla Rellenos. Trying to stay more vegan minded I selected the Quesdilla Sonoras. Oh, and I asked about Tamales and ordered one, even though not on the menu. Our food came shortly, piping hot and delicious. I looked at my Tamale and had to try it first. Yum! It was the best Tamale I've eaten since a trip to Texas 30 years ago! The perfect ratio of meat and masa. In retrospect I would have just ordered three Tamales and a side of Frijoles! My first time here. Food was very good. I had the Enchiladas Carnitas and it was very good. We had the Guacamole made table side and it was creamy and delicious. This place was amazing!! We stopped in on a Wednesday for lunch. First off..the decor is great. Love all the greenery. We were greeted by such a friendly host. Our lunch came out maybe 5 mins after ordering it. Margaritas were delicious. I could go on and on about the Birria Tacos. I'm still drooling thinking about them. This was a fun overall experience. My entire family enjoyed their meals however some parts were stronger than others. First, the customer service was wonderful. My daughter (age 4) spilled her drink and they instantly switched us tables and replaced the drink graciously and said "kids make mistakes! No problem). The manager came over after To check on us. We came for lunch and the lunch portions were enormous. My steak fajita was very flavorful and the Mexican rice was fluffy although it needed some salt. I wasn't a big fan of the refried beans because they were a bit bland. My wife had a chicken quesadilla which had fantastic flavor however it more closely resembles a grilled taco because it wasn't really grilled shut. However the flavor was great. I also got a side of guacamole that was super tasty. The kids meals were good. The chicken fingers were good enough for my daughter but a big forgettable. My son's tacos were great and he loved them. We were celebrating my mother in law's bday and even they even surprised us with a complementary fried ice cream which was shockingly delicious. Overall, a fun experience. read more

The service was fast, prices were good because we'll get two meals out of our serving, and having vegan meals on the menu made this a very pleasurable experience. Food is bland and looks like it was from an old school cafeteria, meat is soggy, tortilla soaked from meat. Can't be picked up .bathroom stalls are nice sized. But bathroom layout is weird. Entryway is a painted concrete ramp with indoor carpeted rubber mats thrown over it . NO RAILING!!! No the mats don't cover the whole ramp just sections of it. Doesn't know how slick it was til I fell this past Saturday unto my hands and knees . MAYBE if there had been a proper ramp with railing I wouldn't have fallen.. This is the newest Mexican restaurant in town. This part of a chain. I have been to numerous locations. This location and there menu is a little different. Than I remember from others. A few things were not offered that planned on ordering. The person who waited on us was very happy and cheerful. She was also a little forgetful. One meal was to come with extra that. Ordered. She forgot them all . Lol she did take them off are bill. Food flavor was really good. I tried the chicken tortilla soup. And glad I did. The interior of the was very open some of seat spacing was very uncomfortable. I believe this place will make it. They have a bar and with a lot of selection. I will come back here. Food is wonderful and big portions. The Service is wonderful. The waiters and waitresses are always coming by about five minutes to see if you need a drink refill or more complimentary chips. Ambiance is very bright and relaxed. Always have a soccer game going on and diners seem to have a great time. My only complaint is I wish they had more parking, because they are always full. At the top of list for any good Mexican restaurant for me is their free chips & salsa. Not only did we get chips & salsa but also were delighted with a bowl of queso. I ordered enchiladas Suizas from their lunch special. I have never gotten my food as fast as I did there. It came out steaming hot and delicious in just minutes. Our waitress was kind and attentive. Genuinely baffled by the overall positive score... Some of the worst "Mexican" food I've ever had, extremely white-washed and everything tasted bland and pre-made. The menu is simultaneously overwhelmingly large and lacking in variety. All four dishes we tried were mediocre at best. The "OMG nachos" tasted overpoweringly of bacon, which was limp when I dug out a piece on its own. And calling them nachos is generous, there were almost no chips under the pile of over-salted miscellanea. A Mexican restaurant without chiles rellenos anywhere on the menu was a huge red flag, tomato sauce-y starter salsa was another, but they actually had jamaica (rare at tex-mex-type places) so I was unwisely willing to overlook them. The ranch (?) that came out with the salsa and chips at the beginning was so far out of left field that I didn't know how to react. For the first time in my life, I was tempted to dine and dash and felt like I would have been justified to do so. If you're in Hanover looking for authentic Hispanic food, go to Blessings and get some pupusas. read more

I was excited to try this new Plaza Azteca location; considering the York location is phenomenal. The bartender cut corners making drinks and even admitted to us that she didn't have time to make the drinks properly. Quote " sorry guys, I'm cutting corners because I'm busy." The kitchen staff couldn't answer any questions pertaining to food allergies. Our food was served and we had to wait approximately 10 min before even getting silverware to eat our meals. We sat at the bar with empty drinks for an extended period of time. The quality of margaritas was below standards. The food was bland, and even the house hot sauce was bland. A side note, the frozen drink machines at the bar were so loud and squeaky making it hard to hear bar company. This was an overall very poor experience, and I hope they can progress to Plaza Azteca standards. read more

The service at this beautiful restaurant went above and beyond all my other restaurant experiences. I had my one year old daughter with me who did not want to sit still, so one of the waitresses came by and offered her some orange slices. Then, my daughter was standing up on her high chair where she ended up quickly falling out of the high chair, about 3 or 4 servers came by and caught her and helped her up before she hit the floor. I was SO thankful. She of course then was crying, and our waiter came by with some silly puddy to help her calm down. This service went above and beyond a typical restaurant service. It felt like I had family around me helping me. On top of the kindness of the staff, the food was excellent. After several visits the quality of food and service has fallen off more each time. Also missing item(s) dine in and take out. So, now when I do finally call to question the issue of missing tortillas on a pickup I was told the kitchen was slammed not dealing with my concern. I live in Hanover. I have no idea why it lists me as San Francisco. Anyways... Disappointing vegetarian selection. Vegetarian food isn't popular in the Hanover area. But usually, Mexican restaurants offer substantial vegetarian choices and variety. Plaza Azteca's vegetarian choices are confined mostly to a variety of enchiladas. No bean burritos, no vegetarian chimichangas, no vegetable tacos, etc. There were some vegetable nachos, but it was unclear from the menu whether they were vegetarian. I ordered the vegetarian enchilada trio. It was also disappointing. A bean enchilada, a spinach enchilada, and a cheese enchilada doused in a white cream sauce served with white rice that had a few small pieces of corn, peas, and carrots. I was expecting a red enchilada sauce and the traditional Mexican rice (which was served with my husband's non-vegetarian meal). It was rather unappetizing to look at and equally unappetizing to eat. The dominant flavors were cheese, cream, and disappointment. I struggled to get half-way through the meal. I'd love to see an expanded vegetarian menu that didn't focus so heavily on cheese and better descriptions or even choices offered for the enchilada sauces. Also, if something is vegetarian and not listed in the vegetarian section, it should be made clear on the menu that it is vegetarian. read more

First time there was last night not long before close. Boy was my friend and I impressed. Ordered and served quickly. Enchiladas Supremas was ten times better than El Rodeo, very fresh and much better meats and cheeses. Few extra flavorful things added too. I took notice while the servers were cleaning up, they not only clean the floors tables and boothes, but even moved all the boothes and tilted them sideways to clean underneath. Not very good Tex-Mex. For starters, the chips were thick and unsalted (my personal preference is for the the thin and crispy ones) , and the salsa mediocre at best. When the waiter brought out the chips, he brought out a red salsa and a white sauce. We didn't know what the "white sauce," was and were shocked when the waiter told us it was "mayonnaise." Why would we want to dip chips into mayonnaise? The entrees were ordered were also pretty bland, and we were disappointed that none of the tables in the restaurant had a condiment holder. So, no salt, no pepper, and no hot sauce. I was hoping to add flavor with a condiment since the food was lacking. We ordered margaritas. Two of the three were pretty terrible (original and strawberry) but the mango one was quite good. The staff was very friendly and attentive, but it won't be enough to bring us back as the food was just not that good. read more
