Both were not only talented at making drinks, but customer service was top notch as they balanced endless drink orders for the entire restaurant through the dinner rush WHILE ALSO attending to their customers at the bar, and having fun while doing so - a fine balancing act overall. You'd be hard pressed to find bartenders like these who support each other without undermining the other, these two acted as a united, professional team. Best bartenders in town, by far. Food from the kitchen was also excellent, and they quickly corrected a minor error when one of our orders didn't get communicated. The lighting at night with candles provides a relaxing ambiance combined with live music, I highly recommended this place for anyone seeking a quality experience. I usually don't leave negative reviews but this place deserves it. Called to place a takeout order and they don't take orders over the phone. So I decided to drive there and ordered pizza and the meatball appetizer. They refused to make me a meatball appetizer to go but if I eat there it's available. Then tried to order a pretzel roll and was told they won't make that either for takeout. Apparently if you order takeout they can choose what you can leave there with. The food was delicious, we all had pasta, all house made - perfecto! Service was helpful with our decisions and attentive. The restaurant was pretty full and a little on the loud side. The food was AMAZING!!!!! Hands down would recommend - we enjoyed the whipped Ricotta - it could be one of the best things I've eaten. The Shrimp Toast was also phenomenal. The meatballs with the garlic bread focaccia was a chef's kiss and the Hen pasta was divine. You can tell they have a passion for food and we will happily make the drive again to enjoy the cuisine and service. Oak Artisan Cookery is a great place to dine at. This was the first time I had eaten at the new restaurant: prior location (Artisan and Oak) was a stall at the local food/shopping hall. The pizza was just as amazing as I had experienced at the old location. Oak Artisan Cookery makes Neapolitan style pizzas, using legit wood fire ovens, and they also have an open-fire hearth to cook other foods on -- yummy! Anyway, the pizza crust held up great: without compromising what a Neapolitan pizza is supposed to be -- yes, there is still flop and should be; Neapolitan pizza is typically floppy due to the nature of the thin crust. They do not use the standard 00 flour for their dough but still are able to maintain a wonderfully flavorful product. The toppings were all very fresh and flavorful. The soppressata, tomato sauce, cheese, and spicy honey all worked together perfectly. If pizza is not your thing, the restaurant has many other tasty options available from appetizers, to pastas, to hearty main courses all in an Italian style. Finally, being a non-drinker that likes the taste of IPA, they had a Sam Adams NA IPA available that was perfect. Did I mention the restaurant was beautiful? There is no doubt the owners spent a lot of money to make their vision come true and it shows. The old wood flooring goes great with the more modern look of the restaurant. The food and service here are top notch! I'm from out of town (Chicago suburbs) and was looking for an evening nibble and a glass of wine. This restaurant is a TRUE GEM. The menu offerings are fresh and seasonally inspired. I had the Stone Fruit Toast and it was super delicious. Whipped ricotta, grilled peaches and apricots, with herbs, a non-fermented grape reduction and hot honey, all served atop a crunchy, grilled slice of (what I can only assume was) house-made bread baked in their wood fired ovens. The flavors worked wonderfully together. After the bartender described the desserts to me, I jumped at the panna cotta. Again great flavors: fresh cherries in a light syrup, basil, and a silky smooth dairy delight! What I enjoyed tonight was completely on par with places I've eaten on Michigan Avenue in Chicago. It's easy to just pass by this place and not give it a second look. Tucked in a market in Hanover, it's easy to pass by when inside. The pizza is actually very tasty. We had the mushroom pizza. They do not skimp on the mushrooms. The lady that took our order was very nice. It was prepared quickly. I do think it's slightly overpriced for being in a market. The pizza is very good but I also had better. That combined with just stopping in a market for it is a little harder for me to justify a $14 personal pie. That being said, if I'm in the area but want something that's quick and of good quality, I would stop in here again. read more

Outstanding meal. I travel a lot for work and just got back from the west coast and have been eager to try this local establishment. It was so much better than I expected. The drink menu was great. I had the smoke and oak old fashioned which comes with a decent whiskey but also mezcal for the smokiness. For an app we had the fried olives with sausage - wasn't sure what to expect, but was intrigued. It was essentially a Scott egg with an olive in place of the hardboiled egg. The sausage was flavorful and it was perfectly cooked and crispy outside. A garlic aioli would be excellent here. Under veggies, I tried the harvest which was watermelon, cherry tomatoes, olives, Parm and mint. Perfect combo, very well executed. For my entree I had the beet and goat cheese ravioli in a brown butter sauce - another unique, but delicious combo. Definitely looking forward to a return visit! read more

Oak has a youthful vibe, meaning it has a lot of hard surfaces that bounce the noise around, making it difficult to carry on a conversation or hear the waiter. That's not the reason I gave Oak three stars, however. First, I ordered the calamari small plate, and while the squid was nicely prepared, it was just too salty. And then I had the lasagna bolognese, which, ironically, could have used some salt. Perhaps I ordered the wrong thing, as my dinner companions suggested, but I don't think that's on me. The restaurant redeemed itself with a delicious negroni cocktail, and very good panna cotta with macerated fig dessert. read more

I felt bad for our server as we couldn't hear her and she couldn't hear us despite the close proximity. Some noise baffles or fabric might dampen that. Also no coffee? Absolutely my favorite pizza. The best I've ever had and I try pizza basically every where I go. The sauce is perfect. Not chunky but not watery either. The amount of cheese is perfect. It looks like a minimal amount but once you eat it you know that if they added any more it would take away from the pizza. The crust is expertly baked. My only complaint would be that since this is in the Markets at Hanover we can't go for dinner as they are only open until 4 on Saturday.
