In the time we looked at the entire menu and decided what we each were going to order, the waitress came back to take our order. We asked for three orders of chicken wings with celery and sauces, a blooming onion, fries, and a cheeseburger. When Nikki brought out the blooming onion and fries she apologized for the wait and bought over a pitcher of water since she knew she wouldn't be around to refill our glasses. I really appreciated her thoughtfulness. As our food came out she asked if we needed anything else, we were good so she quickly went off to the bar area. My guest were content with the size, crispiness and flavor of the wings. My burger had American cheese, mayo, onions, pickles and lettuce and tomatoes. It came with a pickle and chips. I don't care for chips but there's no lesser version price wise without. The cheese on the burger tasted like cheddar not American and the patty was well cooked but not seasoned. The meat had that not so fresh meat taste and smell so I added a lot of salt and pepper. All the other ingredients were fresh. The blooming onion should've been cooked longer as the center of it still had raw batter and the onion wasn't fully cooked. We took it home to put into our air fyer. The fries weren't anything special as they were thin and not seasoned. The location was on the right side right after passing a one way under pass. It has a small parking lot. The entry has a left door for the tavern and the right door for the dinning room. At first we were going to sit at the tavern side but it was too hectic and loud. The dinning area was decorated with bright farm animal paintings. It was clean. Did not use the restroom.

I had the GIANT soft pretzel and the cheese sauce was one of my favorites ever (and I've had a lot of soft pretzels and cheese dipping sauce). I also had the coleslaw and really liked it. The Maryland Crab Cakes and Rickhouse Cuban were enjoyed by other members of the party. The Cuban was reheated and finished for lunch today. My vegetarian take? Not much here for us, but it can be made to work. And hey, beer and whiskey are vegetarian. Back to the decor. I think people will either like or hate it. I ended up liking it; I thought it was fun with a capital "F". Here's the final bit - there is a hidden speakeasy inside (not that hard to find) which is a really cool little bar off by itself. The restaurant is always extremely clean and decorated very nicely. They have a very nice menu and the food selections are perfect. We ended up going with the steaks and I ended up getting the steak and shrimp dinner and as always, the food comes out steaming hot very well prepared to perfection in our steaks you could not ask for it being better prepared. They just melted in your mouth. I had to come back and edit my review. I almost forgot about their French onion soup, which is amazing. This is a very nice restaurant it's been around for ages and you can tell that the owner and the staff take a lot of pride and maintaining such a high quality atmosphere and service. They are always so accommodating/friendly. Our waitress answered a question for us about seafood during the Lent season. They have a broiled or fried seafood platter (always on the menu) which she says is a big seller, also a fried fish dinner on a Saturday. The atmosphere is very nice, always so clean. I also had the cream ale and the blonde ale. I don't remember the exact prices, but they seemed in line with the styles and I enjoyed both. My biggest complaint was the 3.99% credit card surcharge. That seems steep, especially at a restaurant where lunch can already add up quickly and most people probably aren't carrying enough cash to cover a full meal. To their credit, there was ample signage about the surcharge, so it was not a surprise at checkout. Still, at this price point, adding nearly 4% for using a card left a bad impression. Without the surcharge, this probably would have been a 4-star experience for me. The food and beer were good, and I did not have any real complaint about the quality. But the surcharge, combined with the slightly odd seating experience and higher prices, brings the overall visit down to 3 stars.
