PROS: very unique atmosphere where it does look like you're in a mine. Regulars come here so you know it's good, they have many tables and loads of parking CONS: only one tv in this bar, it's cramped, the bartender never came to us as we stood there for 15 minutes, and it's tough to spot the entrance to the place OVERALL: drink variety was good while atmosphere was amazing but the service can improve

The official bar of Gettysburg this place was a little hard to find but absolutely worth it. It's a hidden gem and we were so lucky to have this place suggested by a friend. You absolutely cannot be the prices and the service is amazing. The atmosphere is super fun, and our group had had a great time. I'll be back!

A very eclectic bar with a mine theme. You have to walk down what appears to be a mine shaft to get to it. The servers were nice. Average beer selection when we went a few years ago, and no food available. However you are allowed to bring your own in. It is decorated with old murals and mining gear. It's a cool place to visit and have a drink.

Cindy was amazing, funny and very hospitable. She was the reason we went two nights in a row. Awesome ambiance.

Bartender was friendly and knowledgable; we went for after dinner drinks and the other patrons were congenial. We enjoyed the varieties of whiskey and the fun ambiance, and will be back!

Perfect dive bar. Absolutely can't beat the prices. Where else can you get 2 fireball shots and 2 higher priced beers for $17! If you go in expecting anything else, you won't enjoy it. We planned to stop quickly before going on a ghost tour, but ended up going back after because we enjoyed it so much. The crowd is also very mixed, so it's good for meeting some interesting people.

The coziest spot in the bar!

Very cool spot. The younger waitress was a bummer, but besides that we had a great time!

Great atmosphere. Enjoyed a drink with a bunch of friends before grabbing dinner in the area. Fun theme. Would return if in the area.

Was there on a bitterly cold late March evening. The fire was going, the staff was friendly and was a fun place to hang out for a bit!

Best bar in town! I take everyone who visits town there. A novelty, a dive, an all around fun bar. Go during the winter and sit by the fire.

The drinks were good and cheap, between the 2 of us we had around 8 drinks & the tab was $25 or $30. Which is relatively good for 2 people, in my opinion. They dont serve food which is a bummer, i also didnt play pool but alot of people were. It is a tight space, so it gets crowded and loud fairly quickly.

Was I seeing this place through my own beer goggles for the night. Let's just get into it. When we showed up in the area we had asked about what nightlife was like in the area. With it being in the middle of a cold streak we were told about several places in town that would fit the bill to have a night out. We made the rounds in town and then found ourselves here for the remainder of the night. I think what drew us here was that it looked like a dive from the outside and allowed smoking. There weren't many people in here for a majority of the night, so we kind of got to observe this place with the regulars in it. That really allows to see how the locals are in an area. It was interesting to say the least. Once the drinks started flowing we started to feel a little more comfortable in here. We started talking to the bartender to find out what was good to do besides the typical tourist stuff in the area. She was wonderful with suggestions, telling us about other watering holes in the vicinity and even beyond Gettysburg. We had inquired about LGBT friendly places within a short car ride and were basically told to go to Harrisburg or a small town in Maryland. At that point, that's when things started to get a little weird. After outing ourselves, things got a little uneasy for us. We ended up meeting the owner's grandson. He was great and seconded the suggestions the bartender made. But when he introduced us to the locals at the end of the bar, we kind of wanted to not say much. It actually made us feel unwelcomed after a bit of sitting near them. Kind of like all eyes were on us. After a few more minutes of that, we paid our bill and made it out the door. So the thing is that it's a great bar, if you're a local. Or maybe even if it's crowded, so there are other people to focus on. We liked everything, the freedom to smoke, the pricing, the bartender, but the atmosphere changed at some point and flipped the script. Would we go back? Maybe if it was nicer weather wise out, that would allow more people to be in here.

There was a huge assortment of foods many of which you can see in my accompanying photos. What you cannot ascertain, however, is how delicious everything was! The prime rib was outstanding as was everything else. The did serve "Mom-Osas" and other spiritus libations. The deserts were wonderful as well, albeit perhaps a bit too sweet for this prediabetic. A lovely touch was a rose for each Mom who was there! ALL servers were attentive and courteous which was nice. Overall 'twas a delightful experience! Og, the pricevwas $50 per person. It's been quite a while since my wife stopped here to dine... probably 5+ years…read more I've noticed that in the 17 years I've been in Gettysburg y this restaurant is #1 still here, and #2 continues a level of food service that both the locals and tourists enjoy. My wife and I both had the shrimp baskets and two soft drinks for lunch. The shrimp baskets were $17 each and the soft drinks $3 each. With tax and tips the total bill came to $50. The shrimp were obviously pre-battered and frozen but they were pretty tasty. The french fries had some kind of a nice crispy coating and were excellent. The coleslaw was pretty tired. The service was cordial and quick. The decor is as I remembered very nice. There is free parking behind this restaurant, but not many people know it is there. The only reason I gave four stars instead of five is because I think that the cost of the luncheon was a little more than it should've been for what we received. Had the shrimp been coated with a batter and fried from scratch (instead of being taken out of a frozen bag) I might've been able to award five stars. But... All in all this restaurant continues to hold its "very good to excellent" reputation for food and service over many years. I would die there again and I would recommend it with no reservations.

We were there on a busy Saturday; they were clearly slammed and probably understaffed, and it took a bit over 20 minutes after ordering to get our food. Other than the wait for the kitchen, the service at the table was very good. It felt a bit pricey at about $62 for two with tip. Cheesesteaks were good but on the small side for $17 and $19 (the latter on a gluten‑free bun), and a little light on the Cheese Whiz. That, plus a cider and a Coke, left the overall experience somewhat underwhelming.
