The Alexander is an impressive hotel and loved the private tour offered. From the $2m art collection and pieces exclusively made for the hotel or the view at night from the Board Room patio will be a conversion starter for some time. This is a hotel I can recommend with confidence and will do so often. The entire event was phenomenal and brilliantly organized. Platt 99s' atmosphere is inviting, relaxing and beautiful from the moment you enter. The view of the city from daytime to nighttime mesmerized us while having wonderful cocktails and never ending appetizers. Plats outdid themselves with the food and drinks tonight. I even smiled when I received my small, glass bottle of Diet Coke...to cute. We tried everything from the pork belly sandwiches, mini lox puffs, YUM, homemade donuts puffs with 3 varieties of fillings, and my favorites, the Beef Carpaccio. Unfortunately, I didn't get an opportunity to sample the Adult Grilled Cheese that everyone was raving about but then again just another reason to return. My husband munched on the edamam with pinot noir salt and popcorn delivered to each table throughout the evening. Our servers were awesome; friendly and managed our crowd very well. I came in about two weeks ago with a large group of my coworkers and everyone was ordering drinks and appetizers. I decided to investigate Plat 99 because a friend said the hotel it is attached to is full of great artwork. Totally enjoyed the hotel, then I went up to the bar with my friend. I asked Justun for a recommendation, based on what I was looking for, taste-wise. He let me know what might be a good fit, and I agreed. The drink was PERFECT. It is rare that a bartender/mixologist listens and genuinely "gets" what I am looking for. My friend's drink was also excellent. Turns out, both were creations of Justun. ;-) He was excellent about explaining the drinks, the bar, and really engaging us in good dialogue about mixology. Totally enjoyed it! Plat 99 is SO MUCH FUN! The atmosphere is on the more relaxed side when it comes to bars. It isn't super loud, but it also isn't super quiet. The staff was friendly & helpful. They were knowledgable on the menu & were able to offer customization on drinks. It was nice to be able to order something & the staff be able to provide alternatives based on what they see other guests ordering. I felt very comfortable in Plat 99. They offer small bites, coffee beverages, & alcoholic beverages. I really appreciate the variety of drinks they offer. You can grab drinks with coffee lovers & alcohol lovers - it's the perfect spot. The decoration throughout The Alexander & in Plat 99 is really neat & cool. Whether you are an out of town guest or an Indy native, Plat 99 is a great spot! I would HIGHLY recommend the Donut Latte - I could have ordered multiple in one sitting. They showcase a few impressive cocktails and they have a nice local microbrew selection and impressive wine selection as well. I get the sense that Wil takes bartending very seriously. He is quite informed on all things alcohol, even throughout history. Try to stump him if you can. Overall, the bar atmosphere is quite nice and fits into the "classy" category. The bar is conducive for singles and there are numerous lounge type tables and even heated outdoor seating for groups. Frequently there are events going on at the hotel, but I've never found the bar to be overly busy, and they have always seemed to be appropriately staffed, so it is definitely a great place to bring your crowd. The food is well prepared and typically very good. My only complaint is that they don't have many of the expected items you'd typically find at a bar, so if you don't like the one or two substantial plates they offer, then you're out of luck. Drinks- the cat in the hat and southern bell's handbook were good. We then ordered the unholy night. It was recommended by our waitress and she said it tasted like a pina colada. It was one of the worst drinks we've ever tasted, with hits of cherry, sweet and spice, bitterness, and no pineapple flavor (it was taken off our bill). Food- the house made burrata cheese was delicious, adding orange and coriander honey made a difference to this otherwise simple dish. We then ordered the beet salad, which was standard but large for an appetizer. Then we got the poblano dumplings, which were horrible- they lacked texture and taste and were overall weird (these were also taken off our bill). Very cool bar attached to the Alexander Hotel. Several vintage cocktails from pre-prohibition are on the menu. None cooler than "The Elephant in the Room" a bourbon cocktail which comes in its own decanter filled with cherrywood smoke. You decide how long to let it infuse. Lots of comfortable seating and when it warms up a touch a large beautiful deck with seating and heating overlooks the street life. As an added bonus you can relax and watch people work out through the glass of the new CityWay YMCA. And yes the truffle oil and sea salt popcorn that greets every patron is as good as it sounds. Indianapolis needed a Mixology lounge and Plat 99 nicely fills that gap. The atmosphere is artsy and chic, but still hospitable. The servers are friendly, attentive, and very knowledgable. There are about 20 signature drinks presented in the menu, in chronological order of inception. Drinks are around $10 each, but are made with great ingredients, creativity, and artistic flair, so the prices don't feel excessive. My friends and I each had two drinks, all of which we thoroughly enjoyed. My favorite was Autumn's Apple - a delicious fall blend of apple liquors, cider, and other apple-tastic libations. I would be remiss if I didn't also mention the popcorn, laced with truffle oil, that is served as the complimentary bar snack. It's a delicious compliment to whatever you've ordered to quench your thirst. Plat 99 is located inside the Alexander Hotel, and the atmosphere pulls you in from the beginning. Beautiful artwork adorns the walls of this new Indy mainstay and makes you want to stay around for a closer look. The custom light fixtures inside Plat 99 are gorgeous; we spent what seemed like hours explore the unique features of each one. The service here is prompt and friendly, and the wait staff are quite knowledgeable. The small plates are just right for a pre-dinner treat, or an after dinner snack. I swung into Plat 99 for a quick snack around happy hour time and it was hopping! Even still the bartenders were quick and friendly. The cocktail list is laid out like a timeline with descriptions of where the drink came from and what is in it. They are priced from abut $9-$12 which seems reasonable to me based on the quality of ingredients (for example my cocktail had local whiskey and black peppercorn syrup among other things.) The menu is small, but full of delicious things. I tried a small plate of beets and a sampling of cheeses, all of which were reasonably priced - the cheeses were $3-$4 per selection and the beets were about $4 as well. The interior is really pretty with these glass lamps hanging everywhere that looked like blown glass. There is a lot of open space and cozy seats everywhere. It's a great place for drink, small bites, and fun company. read more

The true star of this place is the staff. Upon arriving with two best friends, we chose a corner table with a true view of the bar in all its colorful glory. Our waiter, Justin, made us feel at ease as he explained how they like to do things there. He asked what flavors, tastes, and smells we liked and said he'd take care of us. No more than 10 minutes later, he floats over to our table with drinks in hand. The selections he created for us were spot on and all three of us were on cloud 9. See, Plat 99 is a mixology lounge - creation is what they do best, so let them create. We had more fun with the spontaneity of it all that it took the decision-making out of the equation so that we could enjoy each other's company. Fun facts: -GO HERE FOR YOUR BIRTHDAY! Not only did they give my sis-in-law a free glass of champagne, but they also brought out a dessert plate full of house-made chocolate mousse, pretzel sticks, rice krispie squares dipped in chocolate, and chocolate-dipped strawberries and blueberries - !!!! -Valet is $12 and was totally worth it on a rainy evening (our waiter validated our valet ticket as a sweet birthday gift for my sis-in-law - she has all the luck!) There is street parking available around the block or down the street. -Before or after you enjoy your time at Plat 99, take a stroll through the Alexander Hotel lobby area. There is so much art to see with views of the city to match. -If Plat 99 is this great, I can only imagine how the Alexander serves their patrons. When we moved south of Indianapolis from Chicago two years ago I wondered if we would find a place we liked as much as some of the lounges we enjoyed there. Once we stepped foot into Plat 99 I realized that we had found the place. Though a little pricey, the bar has elements that bring us back, and back, and back. The decor is gorgeous. I first encountered the bar in the winter where a group of girls met and took advantage of the huge windows and comfy couches inside. The glass lamps (I am told there are 99) are breathtaking. The drinks were amazing, albeit expensive, but worth it. The servers bring truffle oil popcorn. Oh yeah. It is as good as it sounds. I had no idea that I could like the place more until I discovered the outdoor spring/summer space. The large outdoor area is perfect for sitting and enjoying the elements. The view is not fabulous, but endearing. The servers are fantastic...we soon got to know a few of them and they are so friendly and quick to greet you. They make your experience even better. This is the "local plus" to me...the elegance of a upscale lounge with the midwestern hospitality. Fabulous. The servers certainly create an environment that makes one want to return. read more

Amazing experience at Plat 99! Ryan the bartender is great! We wanted girly fruity drinks which they only have one on the menu--cat in the hat (which is yummy!!). But Ryan was so great to create a custom drink for us! He's the best! He's a master at craft cocktails! We both ordered a Cuban sandwich for dinner. We talked to the manager, Will, who is so friendly and a hard worker. He was seen clearing dishes, stocking glasses, and making sure all guests were happy. The cocktails are good (me and my girlfriend tried a few), a tad pricey, but that's what you should expect at an establishment attached to a hotel. The bartender I had was awful to speak too however, rude, and he poured me a lesser quality bourbon in my old fashion than what I asked for. It's on the second floor of the Alexander Hotel(beautiful itself) and you have a great view of Indy and access to go out on the terrace. Plenty of seating and large tables to just stand by if that is more your style. The food that I got to sample definitely makes me want to come back for more. Beautiful atmosphere inside, beautiful art installations, wonderful patio outside. Spectacular service. Delicious food. I hope to come back regularly. This part of town is developing quickly. Presently, there is a vacant lot across the street and some of the street parking is still free. The bar is only a few blocks from the Lilly campus. If you're confused about exactly where it is, it's upstairs above Cerulean in the new Alexander Hotel...there are valets at the front door to tell you where it is if you're still unsure. I definitely had a "How do I get in?" feeling as I was walking up. I think this would be a great spot to go before or after a date because of the atmosphere. The music is at just the right volume to facilitate conversation, the art and decor are out-of-the-ordinary so you'll have something to talk about besides each other, the service is really good, and the drinks are top notch. I didn't see any displays of child-flavored vodka, which is an A+ in my book. Cocktails are innovative. You'll be getting a much better deal on a bottle of wine than a glass, so you can nosh on some small plates and split a bottle while you decide if you ever want to see the person again. Right? Although I had been downstairs to Cerulean, this was the first time I ventured upstairs to Plat 99. The setup is very trendy and cute with options to sit at the bar, small seating areas and an outdoor deck. I am sure that it is beautiful to sit outside on the deck in the evening. Really, the Alexander overall looks like it should be in SoHo rather than in Indianapolis. Love it! The service is great and the craft cocktail menu is excellent. Take a chance to order something from the craft cocktail menu rather than going for a basic beer or wine, you won't regret it! The only negative in the entire experience was that the front desk of The Alexander is right outside the entrance. It is a bit distracting with the people checking in and having people wandering in from the gym (this could be because I was sitting near the door). This place is brand-spaking new. We were there on their opening night. The decor is 60s/70s retro, and their lights are pretty unique. They have small foods and a decent drink list. Their menu reads like a timeline, showing when a drink was invented, by who, and the description. Prices are on par with the fancy bar trend hitting indy right now ($9-$12 for a fancy cocktail) It's a decent bar, it just seems odd to be sharing a building with the bar at Cerulean (Plat 99 is the upstairs hotel bar). For me, it's like having a starbucks in the same building as a starbucks. Both serve quality beverages, they're just too close in proximity. One of the best cocktail centric bars/restaurants I have ever been to. From the menu to the decor, everything was great. I made sure my wife and I sat at the bar in order to see the bartenders making the cocktails. They had a wonderful assortment of drinks and a very user-friendly menu that allowed both me and my wife to choose a drink that we each could enjoy. We were in Indy this weekend for the Kenny Chesney concert and were staying at the Alexander where Plat 99 is located. We stopped for a few drinks and a couple of small plates before we left. I had the Hello, Daisy cocktail with vodka, rosemary syrup and lemon juice. It was refreshing and not too sweet and just perfect! We had the hummus and mango lettuce wraps small plates and they were delicious, especially the trio of hummus (spinach, buffalo, and jalapeno), they were perfectly made and perfectly spicy with a delicious pita bread. I got the Delta Rose while my boyfriend was delighted to see Aquavit on the menu. Mine tasted like a gummy bear, but not in an overly sugary way. We then requested Aviations made with Aquavit instead of gin, and it was delicious. The cheese plate included warm, honey-drizzled bread and fig jam with dried and fresh fruits and generous cheese servings. The decor is colorful and fun. I dug the art nouveau-style pattern on the pillars and floor near the west window. You can stroll the public parts of the hotel afterwards and check out their eclectic art collection.
