If you love aesthetics and are a fan of art, then Plat 99 is the contemporary fit for you. I'm from LA and had the pleasure to stay at The Alexander hotel and this bar (Plat 99) is apart of it! The MIXOLOGISTS are amazing! Yes I said it, MIXOLOGISTS! And these guys know how to make a drink. Not only are they good at it but each individual participated and added their own style of cocktails to the menu! If you ever stay at the hotel, or just wanna grab a drink, DEFINITELY stop in because you won't be disappointed. There's hardly a wait, never crowded, and very intelligent and properly mannered. 5 stars is definitely what they deserved, and would say more if it were an option. read more

Not the spot for classic martinis or other cocktails. This hotel bar has locally created cocktails with crazy names and blended to perfection. The creation is both artistic and mesmerizing. If the shaker was slowed down to a soft beat, I'd be hypnotized. But we don't want that. I came to explore great drinks from Indys best mixologists. read more

I've had the chance to visit Plat 99 for a networking event and a drink with friends. I enjoyed myself both times. I really recommend this place for an awesome date spot, especially if you want to impress your date. Great drinks and lovely small plates. I didn't catch where the cheese plate and pâté are from but loved it! Food: 5/5 Location: 5/5 - adorable! The view is amazing and the lights are magical Service: 4/5 read more

Interesting place. Lots of glass. Very "Logan's Run". Wide open space, lots of windows and the views of the city all around was a nice touch. I was there mostly for 1st Friday things, so I was busy with that. They had a decent beer list and my First Friday Companions enjoyed their mixed drinks as well. I didn't try any of the food, what I saw looked nice though. If I am in the area again, I will stop in and perhaps try some food. It will probably get a higher star rating from me too. read more

Stopped by here for a drink after having dinner next door. We asked the bartender for a suggestion and were basically told to read the descriptions. The service wasn't up to my level of expectation. I've been to the hotel before and the staff were all really helpful and friendly but I won't be back to the bar. If you do stop in, be sure to take a tour by some of the artwork in the hotel as it is worth checking out. read more

Beautiful modern decor and amazing view out towards Lucas Oil! The drinks were great! I got the Bully Pulpit which had dry ice making it smoke - Really cool! My husband and I enjoyed the sweet potato terrine while being entertained by "sports casting" for the YMCA men's pick-up game across the street. Will definitely return! read more

The cocktails are good (me and my girlfriend tried a few), a tad pricey, but that's what you should expect at an establishment attached to a hotel. The bartender I had was awful to speak too however, rude, and he poured me a lesser quality bourbon in my old fashion than what I asked for. When I asked about it, he pulled the cheaper bourbon from his well, but I was still charged for the higher end whiskey. Atmosphere is very nice however. read more

Amazing experience at Plat 99! Ryan the bartender is great! We wanted girly fruity drinks which they only have one on the menu--cat in the hat (which is yummy!!). But Ryan was so great to create a custom drink for us! He's the best! He's a master at craft cocktails! We both ordered a Cuban sandwich for dinner. We talked to the manager, Will, who is so friendly and a hard worker. He was seen clearing dishes, stocking glasses, and making sure all guests were happy. He is exactly what a great manager should be. We highly recommend Plat 99! They even have an outdoor patio for the warmer nights! read more

What do you get when you take a former mixologist of Libertine fame, mix it up with a fabulous server from Brass Ring Lounge in Fountain Square, mix in some additional complete awesome staff in an amazing venue??-You get Plat 99. I am lucky enough to have visited several times already and have decided this will be one of my go-to spots for a great cocktail or to have a beer or two. The staff here are warm and friendly and despite it's pristine and beautiful decor, this is a great comfortable and welcoming place to kick back before a game at Banker's Life or wherever the nght takes you. This will also be my place to go the minute the weather warms up as the deck is gorgeous. They also make really good Sazeracs here! read more

I really wanted to give this a higher rating. I've heard great things about their cocktails and small plates. My friend and I each ordered two different cocktails. I was underwhelmed by all of them; Time Enough For Love was the best of the four we ordered between the two of us, if you like sweet cocktails. I was craving a spicy cocktail and was not a fan of Unholy Night. The small plates were unique. We ordered four different plates to share. We were apprehensive about the scallion pancake, but it ended up being my favorite. We also tried the poblano dumpling, the truffle beet salad, and the house made burrata cheese. They were all average. I was disappointed there were no meat options that didn't include pork (even the meatballs have them). Love the location and the decor, but doubt I will hurry back. read more

I love Plat 99, and it should be packed every night of the week. Perhaps the location, on the "other side" of the Pacer's Field House, lessens the crowds. However, this is a fabulous cocktail bar. The decor is still trendy and "of the moment," even after several years. Plat 99 would look cool in any city. The "Chihuly-like" glass planetary display lets you know immediately this is a special drinking establishment. Mixology is taken seriously, and the drink menu is well designed. The outdoor terrace is a must, with great views and accessibility even in cold weather due to the well positioned fire pits. The bar bites are unique and excellent. Plus, the eclectic and diverse crowd is a refreshing change from the trendoid joints lining Mass Ave. Ryan, the bar manager, educates the staff about the correct way to service their patrons, and he ensures Plat 99 is run professionally and on point. This is casual chic run well. Bravo to Plat 99! read more

I really like the atmosphere of Plat 99, plenty of room while still being cozy. The food choices are interesting bordering on eclectic which is really fun although the food choices are pretty limited. I suppose that is the design as this place is all about mixing the perfect custom drink for each patron. I could spend hours and hours eating, chatting, learning and drinking here! read more

Beautiful location, and the lamps are gorgeous. Asked the bartender his favorite drink to make or have, and he whipped up this delicious bourbon drink for me that I believe was their feb 2016 devour downtown cocktail. Wish I could remember the name of the drink. I ordered the heart shaped pasta with duck confit, it was easily one of the best dishes I've had here in Indy. I agree with some other reviews about a touch of snobbery. It was evident and only mildly off putting. Reminded me of hipster places in Portland. We lucked out and at 8:15pm on a Friday were able to snag free on street parking. I also heard that the outdoor patio is really nice in summer. The view from the bar includes the new YMCA. So you can watch people doing cardio while you sip your cocktails if that's your thing. I'll be back, but not sure that I'll rush there. read more

We had two drink vouchers for this place and decided to end the night here since it was in the hotel we were staying at. We found a cozy little table and were served promptly. My wife ordered the Xupa Xupa and was happy with her choice. I ordered the Boomshalaka which is a whiskey drink served in a glass flask with the cherry wood smoke inside. The presentation of both drinks alone was impressive. I liked my drink so much that I ordered a second one. They serve you a bag of freshly popped popcorn to snack on as well. The ambiance of this place was fun and artsy, as per the theme of the hotel. Our server was slammed from an after wedding party but she kept up and checked on us often. Two thumbs up! We had a great time! read more

Awesome food and cocktail menu. Came to Indy over the weekend for a concert. We were staying at the Alexander hotel, and our room wasn't quite ready (no biggie, it was 3:10) and they gave us a voucher for a free drink and apptizers while we waited. We got some garlic shrimp wraps and some hummus. Both were great. I took a recommendation from our waiter, and got a cocktail called Do You Think I'm Pretty (Angels Envy bourbon blend). It was a really great experience. Hopefully we will be back in next time we are in town. read more

Great spot for an after-work drink and maybe a snack of two - didn't get any food this time besides the free popcorn (which was awesome). The hotel itself has a great atmosphere and nice lobby and the bar itself has a great modern feel with lots of comfortable seating areas. It has an upscale vibe without seeming pretentious, if that makes sense. Cocktails are pricey ($10-14 for the mixed drinks) but very elaborate and good. Lots of great local stuff on tap for reasonable prices, $5-6 a glass for your Sun King, Three Floyds, Flat 12, Fountain Square, etc (and unlike many places these were real pints). Depending on your seating a nice view of Lucas Oil and parts of downtown. Service was outstanding - extremely professional and helpful to check on our group and bring more bags of popcorn. Definitely a great spot to meet up before dinner for a classy drink or two (or more if someone else is picking up the tab!) read more

Good place for a relaxing drink in the afternoon. The truffle popcorn is the signature snack and is on the house, it is tasty. We got 3 cocktails and a cheese board. Cocktails are not too strong and are good for us as we dont need much alcohol. The only thing is that the 3 drinks all looked plain (all like like lemonade in different glasses) and underwhelming, without much presentation or garnish. The cheese board on the other hand looked great, good portion and great presentation. Made us happy. We were thinking that the bartender and the chef that prepared the cheese board are definitely different persons. :) read more

Fantastic bar in The Alexander hotel. You enter, admire the illuminated glass fixtures, and take your pick of all the seating options: barstools, high tables, low tables, sofas, indoors and outdoors seating. It's a hot second before a knowledgeable and cool server comes by with your menus and truffle popcorn. The instant pick-me-up is their complementary truffle popcorn. So addictive! As far as the drinks go, they have a very wide selection of beers, wines, hard liquors, and cocktails. I love how they organize their cocktail menu around local flavors and happenings. I was persuaded to try The Green Hour, which was a unique absinthe drink, recommend. The food was a bit of a let-down. Not very delicious, and gone in half a bite. Would recommend checking Plat 99 out if you're in The Alexander. read more

Had the opportunity of visiting Plat 99 for the first time last week with my boyfriend and another couple. The decor was fun, modern and unexpected. I ordered a gin fizz and the shrimp + mango lettuce wraps a la carte. Cocktail was exactly as described. Very well balanced and not too sweet. Lettuce wraps were tangy, fresh, and flavorful but for $13 I would have liked to see at least one more on the plate. I sampled the rabbit stew as well as the corn beef sliders. Both were amazing but once again portions were a bit tiny. I look forward to coming back and sampling some more cocktails. read more

My new favorite spot to take in a cocktail. Best seat in the house is corner bar stool upon entry with panoramic view. The best old fashioned cocktail in town....easily. The block of ice is a great touch to any drink. Oh....and the savory popcorn bag is addictive so watch out. read more

Truffle oil & sea salt popcorn. Need I say more? Seriously. I'm dreaming of that popcorn. Maybe they can start packaging it & shipping it to LA for me? Met up with friends to catch up and have a drink or two. Love the atmosphere. Music wasn't too loud so we could talk and actually hear each other. Snagged a sweet spot in the corner couches and split a bottle of wine. Great evening! At previous visits I've only enjoyed the cocktails. Lots of options if you aren't a fan of sweet drinks like me. Highly recommended. read more

This bar inside the Alexander is warm and inviting with several seats around the bar and comfy couches around the outside. They serve delicious popcorn as courtesy with your drink! I ordered the Head in the clouds Gin drink which came in a champagne class and was delicious! The only reason I gave them 4 out of 5 stars is because we ordered a charcuterie and cheese board for a quick snack but it took more than 30 minutes and we needed to leave. Luckily our server let us cancel the order so we could get to our event on time! read more

Here's the deal, I went here hungry with my hungry dad. Bad idea. The Devour Downtown menu was too limiting, so we ventured on our own and selected three plates to share, which averaged $12 each. The $13 shrimp wraps included one, average-sized shrimp in a piece of bib lettuce with toppings - there were three, just THREE shrimp total for $13! The rest of the plates followed suit - ridiculously small portions for the price. We left hungry and out $60. Bummer. I love the space, seating options and the cocktails, but don't go for food unless you're wealthy and already full. read more

Two words: Indiana Shrimp - what is that? So I asked. Farm raised shrimp in southern Indiana is what it is. And if you have any farm raised shrimp is mostly likely comes from Southern Indiana. My friend ordered the shrimp lettuce wraps and said they were good but left half of them on her plate. I ordered the grilled cheese and it was really good. The Truffle Popcorn is tasty as well. The food prices are fair. Although before we were seated I ordered a cocktail and my friend ordered a coke from the bar. I picked up the tab for both and was surprised to receive a bill for $20 for only those two items. How much was that coke?? The décor is very modern, trendy and upscale. So if you're into that, really expensive drinks and small plates then this is your place. I won't lie, I felt like I left broke and hungry. You're definitely paying for an upscale experience. read more

Hands down one of the niftiest little places to start your night...GREAT custom drinks that you will just not find elsewhere and TRUFFLE oil popcorn! It really melts in your mouth! The drinks are expensive so it is a one (maybe two tops) drink stop for me but it is a great place for everyone to meet up. On a nice evening the patio is fantastic and, of course, everyone has seen the fabulous lights. It is NOT nearly as pretentious as I was expecting it to be and it was very relaxing, upbeat and a lot of fun. Great staff. Fun patrons. read more

Beautiful location - full of modern artwork. There is seating at the bar, nice couches along the sides, and wonderful outdoor seating. There is an instant relaxing atmosphere here, where you just want to sit back, sip your beverage, and take in the beauty. The menu is extensive, and the bartenders will create something off-menu of course. The prices are steep, but these are drinks you slowly sip while enjoying great company, therefore the price is worth it. I would gladly return - and recommend Plat to others! read more

First time at Plat 99 to celebrate a friends recent promotion and I will say...definitely a nice vibe! Overall, great attention from the staff, awesome drinks and awesome atmosphere!!! We didn't try the menu too much, so I'll leave that for next time but our visit, did not disappoint. read more

Yikes! Beautiful but kind of cold atmosphere . First, yes it was a Monday, but one would think that with a new business that somethings would be on point. I don't want to be crushing, but this place was nil of customer service. We sat for 15 minutes with no one coming over to use. In matter a fact a waitress saw us walk in and totally ignored us when we asked if we could sit anywhere. There was a function but there was other people in the lounge. We were going to try the food but when our waiter came (finally), gave us the book, which was the drinks and food menu. when asked about Rye drinks, he told us, it is in the book and looked bored and bothered, we thought better. Wow, really! Bought me a ginger beer without a glass, come on now, ask if i want a glass. When I did get it; it was after the beverage was done. The place was not busy. My guest from out of town, has a successful restaurant in Austin, TX. She was kinder stating that a total retraining of the staff was needed. and that it appears that the thought of the hotel came first and the lounge had to be a second thought. But with some tweaking it might work. Sorry but it is thumbs down for me! read more

Plat 99 is an experience. The cocktails are kind of insane. Like sometimes requires a blowtorch insane. Which if I'm paying over $10 for a cocktail, construction equipment should be required. I'm normally a beer guy, but I had a couple of the cocktails, and so did my wife, so got to see/try 4 of them overall. The bartender was very friendly, and you could tell he took his craft seriously. Everything tasted really good. The setting looks really nice, but is still laid back. You could dress up if you wanted to, but you don't have to.
