Nooooo! We're such big fans of Cerulean, we were hoping Plat 99 would be a great spot with friends before a concert. It was not. I've had slow service before, but this was beyond ridiculous. After waiting 15-20 minutes to order, it took half an hour for our friends to get their food---and then another 10-15 minutes for my husband and I to get ours. My friends tried to be polite and wait on us, but their food was getting cold, so we told them to go ahead. Turned out it wouldn't have mattered---their paltry serving of chilequiles was fairly flavorless. Just an enchilada scrambled in a little bowl. They could have gotten a larger serving of the same boring dish (for a lower price) at a local Mexican joint. My grilled cheese was great (once it arrived) and my husband's cuban was pretty good. Then another FOREVER to see our server to get our bill (which wasn't split, she didn't even check), and we just walked it up to the pay station when we saw her up there again instead of waiting for her to make it back. We'd have been late for the show. We ended up feeling embarrassed for having taken our friends there. Maybe it's a fine hangout when you have no time frame or only want drinks, but it just I certainly won't waste more of my time here. It's really just an upscale hotel lounge. read more

Plat 99 is a great place to grab a drink and a quick dessert or snack. It's not just for guests staying at the hotel, and actually offers a really nice patio area and indoor seating. My husband and I visit often and love sitting out on the rooftop patio. The service is phenomenal, Kristin and her staff are great. The drinks are unique, even with a limited menu during COVID you're sure to like what you get. More people need to stop in and grab a drink because it's a hidden gem! read more

Yikes! Beautiful but kind of cold atmosphere . First, yes it was a Monday, but one would think that with a new business that somethings would be on point. I don't want to be crushing, but this place was nil of customer service. We sat for 15 minutes with no one coming over to use. In matter a fact a waitress saw us walk in and totally ignored us when we asked if we could sit anywhere. There was a function but there was other people in the lounge. We were going to try the food but when our waiter came (finally), gave us the book, which was the drinks and food menu. when asked about Rye drinks, he told us, it is in the book and looked bored and bothered, we thought better. Wow, really! Bought me a ginger beer without a glass, come on now, ask if i want a glass. When I did get it; it was after the beverage was done. The place was not busy. My guest from out of town, has a successful restaurant in Austin, TX. She was kinder stating that a total retraining of the staff was needed. and that it appears that the thought of the hotel came first and the lounge had to be a second thought. Plat99 stole my heart the first time I caught a glimpse of their beautiful light fixtures from the street below. In addition to the one of a kind decor and ambience, Plat99 brings their A-game with a wonderful cocktail menu too. Although it is no longer featured on their menu, my go-to order is The Corpse Reviver No. 2. As the name suggests, this cocktail can bring any wary soul back to life (perhaps due to the absinthe included in the recipe!). I was first introduced to the Corpse Reviver cocktail at Plat99 and have since made several attempts at recreating it for others because I love it so much. Spoiler alert--my rendition is never quite as good as the real deal. Anyways,when the weather is nice, a seat at the outdoor patio with a drink in hand is the best place to be. In addition to my favorite cocktail in the city, Plat99 also serves my favorite bar snack--truffle popcorn. It is wickedly good. period. Literally the only bar I could call a "favorite" in Indianapolis. It's gorgeous. The vibe is modern, fresh, and eclectic. I love the mixed crowd of people here, which can partly be owed to the fact that it's in a hotel I'm sure. If I have friends from out town with me, I always bring them and they're always impressed. I usually order a Manhattan (the black cherries they throw in are INCREDIBLE) or the L'heure Verte because I'm an absinthe kinda lady. I honestly would like to try every signature drink eventually, because of how much I adore every single thing here. Also, I know I'm missing out on their small plates! From peeking at what other people have ordered, the food looks more than easy on the eyes. It's perfect. Would also recommend for a date. read more

The cocktails and staff here are amazing! I attended a wedding this weekend and we all stayed in the hotel. The staff were extremely nice and accommodating. Andrews and Brian will make you some kick ass cocktails and entertain you at the same time. The popcorn with truffle butter and truffle salt is amazing (and I don't even like popcorn). This place is great...It's a cocktail bar with some small plates. Feels pretty nice in there, staff is great, crowd is polite, nice seating areas. To be fair, I mostly cared about cocktails, and they were also great. I am certainly not bothered by Cerulean being downstairs as these two establishments, besides both being on the up-scale side, don't have that much in common...But even if they did, why would I be bothered by two great places being right next to each other? The slowest service EVER. Food was decent, drinks were ok. The entire reason I'm giving such a low review, is because nowhere on this planet should it take 20 mins + for a cosmopolitan. I'm writing this review while sitting here..... I've waited over 20 minutes per drink, and now 20+minutes for a box and my check. This is unreal. Cannot say enough great things about Plat 99. My husband and I love going for late night drinks. With every visit to Plat 99, you are given a complimentary bag of truffle popcorn! And believe me when I say it is amazing! We had our holiday party there with our apartment complex and had a few of the food items off the menu. All of which were very good. I truly enjoyed my first experience at Plat 99. It was definitely trendy, cozy and intimate with a touch of snobbery that was perfect for our group of friends. The drink list is interesting, unique and intimidating but the server (Kristin) was not. She walked through the list drink by drink with me based on my personal tastes (not too boozy, not too sweet and not too much syrups). I ended up having 4 (one too many....three too many???) Jamaican Jaspers ....um, let's just say as soon as it came, the smell of Jamaican countryside invaded my nostrils. Since I have been an avid Caribbean traveler for 8 years and its my favorite country, there was an amazing sense of calm, relaxed and oh so homey feeling that came with the first sip. Nutmeg and allspice came strong and fast and halfway through, I told my hubby, "It will certainly be one of THOSE kinds of nights." Rolled eyes commenced but he agreed after I shared a sip. It was a delicious cocktail. Throughout the evening, I also had the duck sliders. I don't think it is called that on the menu but they are Duck-vine, with an amazing amount of flavor that I wanted seconds and thirds, but I'm giving up carbs, soooooo..... We also indulged in the hummus and my favorite was the pesto. It was incredible. I want more....soon. Our service was INCREDIBLE. There were three LARGE parties in the space and they accommodated us with a fine touch. I never felt neglected (quite the opposite) and enjoyed my experience with our server throughout the night. Our group was there were for a surprise party and they were great with us. We were given a little more space outside the bar in the living room area in the lobby to cut the cake and take over, which we did without complaint. I thought it was a WONDERFUL way to make sure everyone was happy. They even opened up the patio and turned on the amazing fire pits which was perfect with the chill in the air. A staycation at the Alexander is on my list and we'll be spending more time here. Two thumbs up! read more

Slightly hidden location; tucked inside a hotel. Went to this place with a large group of people, which I don't think the bar was prepared for. It's a smaller place with a chill atmosphere. Have been wanting to check this place out because they have colorful lantern lighting that you can see through the windows from the streets below. There is also a nice cozy fire pit out on the balcony patio, which is a great treat for summer nights. The bar has complementary popcorn, which is a bonus! read more

This place is absolutely beautiful, which is what brought me in. The glass lanterns and swanky white furniture make this place really special. They have an okay selection of microbrews. I ordered a 3F Pride & Joy, and my husband asked for a recommendation for a cocktail. I'm not sure exactly what the cocktail was that the server brought (it was one of their signatures), but was extremely sweet. I guess the server should probably probe a little bit before making a recommendation. It was definitely on the sweet/no taste of liquor side, rather than the dry/stiff side like my husband likes. All in all, I think we'll be back. Maybe we'll stick to beer though. There are definitely better options if you are looking for a stiff drink in Indy. Cons: The biggest disappointment was the service. Although I initially loved the decor and feel of the space, this quickly dissipated due to the mediocre service. The waiter wasn't as polished as I'd have expected, could have been in an Applebees or any other average chain. It was a slow Monday night, all the more reason I was baffled by the service. No explanation of the menu layout or small plate style of dishes. When asked for guidance on how many dishes we should start out with for a group of our size, we were given an ambivalent answer. Also took forever to get our check at the end of the meal. Pros: Upon first entering, felt very welcomed by the colorful glass decor and natural light (the walls were head to toe windows). The corned beef sliders were excellent. Ceviche lettuce wraps were also very good. read more

First of all, the popcorn is fabulous. If you don't eat every last kernel, please send the rest my way. Secondly, I could eat the grilled cheese every day of my life, and I would not be sad in the least. But beware - it had quite a kick. I got the aioli on the side, and it was perfection. Thirdly, most of the drinks have multiple ingredients that I've never heard of, but I'm not mad about it. Every drink that I tasted was very good. Make no mistake - this place takes their drinks very seriously. And lastly, the Pour & Play event is a lot of fun. Check out their website for the next available date. For $20 (per person), you can engage in a cocktail concoction competition with your peers. It's great fun, and William, the manager, is lovely to work with. He was very knowledgable and very nice. I had the pleasure of attending a Wedding reception at The Alexander. We had drinks in the Plat 99 lounge before the reception. While the reception's food, drink and music were marvelous, Plat 99 was intriguing enough to take a second look. We were not disappointed. The cocktails are inspired and served with style. Such a happy surprise, as we were staying at The Alexander and, you know, hotel dining isn't usually the most fantastic eats. This, however - was. Any place that brings over your own bag of truffle salt popcorn to munch on while you peruse the menu starts with very high marks. Great drink menu; lots of curated cocktails, an excellent selection of local beers, and something you don't see all the time - considered wines-by-the-glass selection. We were having a late dinner, so hubs had the Cuban sandwich and I chose one of the salads. Husband often chooses Cubans and is often disappointed, but not here; he said it was one of the best he's had. My salad was un.real. - and I make and eat a ton of salads. Farro, roasted local mushrooms, kale, beets and - whoa - horseradish goat cheese...? The combo was out of this world and one of those dishes I'm still craving. If I were in Indianapolis I'd be making this place one of my go-to's. It's that good. read more

The experience here starts from when you walk up the stairs and see the beautiful hand blown glass chandeliers hanging from the ceiling. I went to Plat 99 on a Monday night. I was really excited, as I had never gotten around to going, and it just worked out to go this time. It didn't look busy, so we went upstairs and sat down and looked at the menu. We then waited to place our order. The waitress apologized for our wait, and was very kind to us. The truffle popcorn that's provided is out of this world. Someone else brought our drinks, and I don't think we were the right kind of people to be in his bar. It was somewhat disappointing. I would have had a second drink if I would have felt more welcome. The drink I did have was amazing. But I don't really need to go back. read more

I went to Platt 99 for my first Yelp Elite event and it is gorgeous! The light fixtures and the tile were extremely unique. It's got a very open feeling too it with some smaller tables by the windows and larger wooden tables for gathering as a group in the middle. The entire staff was accommodating and very attentive. I learned that with their drink menu, you can order drinks starting from the late 1800's until now. What an awesome idea! I did not partake that night and stayed with the Yelp punch but that is one thing (among others) that will bring me back! read more
