I was a little disappointed by my experience here. At checkout, the lowest suggested tip option was 15% (other than selecting no tip), which struck me as a bit much. I nevertheless tipped $3 on a cup of coffee and a breakfast bagel. I brought my own coffee outside, while the bagel was brought out to me. When I finished eating, I brought my tray, cup, and utensils back inside and up to the counter as a courtesy rather than leaving them outside. Instead of just taking them, the employee told me I needed to carry everything over to another area near the trash cans. Obviously, walking another 10 feet isn't a big deal. What bothered me was that after tipping $3 and then going out of my way to bring everything back inside, the staff essentially couldn't be bothered to take the tray the last few feet themselves. It's a small thing, but it left a disappointing impression about the level of service relative to the tipping expectation. read more

Stopping over in Cloverdale my wife had a sudden craving for bakery items. A local tipped us onto Plank as a potential source - and luckily they were still open as it was nearing 2:00. There were still some selections left. Their cookies are huge: she chose a chocolate peanut butter. A cinnamon square and a strawberry almond coffee cake rounded out her picks. She loved everything. You get quite a lot for a reasonable price. We wished we had more time to try their own roasted coffee, and breakfast or lunch offerings. Next time. We are fans and will return. read more

This is the almost perfect place to stop and get a treat before heading out to the coast on Highway 128. Good coffee, tasty food items, friendly atmosphere. But today one thing was not as it used to be. They no longer have WiFi. Well, some of us do use it when on a road trip. So it's not what it used to be, and frankly I always went as much for the WiFi as for the coffee. So unfortunately it's bye-bye to Plank for me. read more

Cloverdale is a sweet SMALL town. If you visit or pass through, Plank is a must-stop for breakfast, lunch, or a caffeine boost. It's a locally-owned coffee shop and cafe offering small-batch house-roasted coffee, tea, smoothies, house-made pastries, breakfast & sandwiches, and more. I love their coffee (often buy lattes and beans to make at home), as well as their egg & cheese bagel sandos and veggie sando. But on my most recent visit it was HOT outside so I ordered an Arnold Planker, their version of an Arnold Palmer. It's a little sweet and oh so delicious and refreshing! Plank offers a cozy setting and chill vibe with some indoor and outdoor seating. And the friendly staff are the icing on the cake - love that small town energy! I stopped by yesterday afternoon before closing and ordered a Cinnabang and the last blueberry muffin. The Cinnabang is a house specialty drink with espresso, sweetened condensed milk and cinnamon. (The Bangkok is apparently very similar, but without the cinnamon, which I enjoyed.) Now, I love blueberry muffins in general, but this one was next level! It was packed with fruit and, while I'd recommend at least one wet wipe or napkin, it's worth the mess. I had to check and, sure enough, they make them in house, like all of their baked goods. It was the perfect amount of sweetness and a generous portion, obviously still fresh. While I didn't catch the staff's names, they were all friendly, helpful and welcoming. The place felt warm and inviting, yet unpretentious. I hadn't been to downtown Cloverdale since my childhood, but this brief visit made me want to return soon! Charm and comfort food with reasonable prices too! Yes please! The whole block where Plank is located has boutiques and restaurants. Lots to see and explore and worth return visits. read more

The cutest spot! My parents recently moved to Cloverdale and I've been exploring their new town with them the last few days. We came in for breakfast on a Saturday morning and they were definitely busy with a line out the door. Despite the crowd, all the staff members were welcoming and kind. No one seemed flustered or made us feel rushed. We sat on the patio and enjoyed a piece of apple crumb bread (gf), loaded cheesy toast with avocado, a peluche (stuffed crispy roll), and our coffees. My mom and I each had a lavender latte with oat milk. These were awesome! Rich and smooth with a hint of lavender, not overly sweet at all. My dad had a mocha that was also very tasty. The loaded cheesy toast was delicious and the presentation was better than what you get at most boutique cafes in SF or LA. The almond pesto absolutely makes this dish and the spicy mayo drizzle on top is the perfect kick to complement the melty cheese and creamy avocado. The peluche was very good as well-- flaky, crispy outside with roasted potatoes, scrambled egg, and cheese in the middle. You never know if the food is going to meet your expectations when a kitchen is busy on a weekend morning, but it was all tasty and nicely presented. Apple crumble was also stellar! This is the kind of local coffee shop everyone hopes to have in their hometown. Will definitely be going back here with my parents whenever I'm in town for a visit! :) read more

Stopped by Plank Coffee to grab some snacks before heading to the river. It's a cute and quaint coffee shop that has locally roasted beans. We got the BLAT sandwich, a lemon poppyseed scone, and the orange vegan cake. The sandwich had a nice kick and a good amount of sauce, and the side salad was well dressed, though I'm not sure I'd come back just for it. The bakery items were the highlight--the scone was moist and flavorful, and the vegan orange cake was also super moist and not too sweet. BANG. The best coffee place in town hands down. Frankly some of the best pastries you can get - I am not a scone guy and their cherry brown sugar scone is dangerous. I was visiting from out of state with hopes of enjoying coffee in a very warm inviting atmosphere. I really enjoyed the coffee and their food selections. The service was quick and I was served with a smile, however, I am giving this place a 2 star review because of a book that was available for children to read in the seating area! The book was titled " How to raise your children so they do not grow up to be like Donald Trump!". To have a book like this to read in a public establishment where customers with a variety of views come to enjoy good coffee, is not all-inclusive. It excludes and creates an uncomfortable environment for those who may disagree with this mindset. I feel it is important that all types of people to feel respected and comfortable in a warm coffee shop. Traveled to Cloverdale for a work meeting and had to stop and try a new coffee shop. Ordered the nitro cold brew with vanilla, toffee cookie, and blueberry muffin. Everything is incredible!! There are so many pastries to choose from and the cookies are HUGE!!! I love a sweet treat so I had too. I also collect stickers so I had to ask and they have so many to choose from. Soooooo good. We were passing through on our way back home from a camping trip and stopped at Plank for lunch. I had the BLAT which was good. My wife had the Rise and Shine bowl, which was super good , and my daughter had the biscuit with butter sampler. OMG the biscuits and honey were sooooo good. If you're not a regular you will be treat like an outsider.
