We were going to pass through Cloverdale after leaving Clear Lake and wanted to find a good food breakfast spot. Thank you fellow Yelpers for helping us find Zini's. All the staff we encountered were super duper friendly and immediately ready to start our drink order. We enjoyed the Tuna Melt with hot, crispy fries and the Prime Rib skillet with potatoes and 2 eggs. They were perfect and hit our hunger spots. Interior is big and airy, very spacious. Let's just say, Cloverdale needs another breakfast place. I'm new in town, and I wanted some pancakes - this was the only place in town that serves breakfast, apparently, so I went there. The pancakes and scrambled eggs both tasted like they had been fried in rancid canola oil. However, there were a lot of regulars in there, so maybe there are some better options on the menu. read more

The restaurant is huge inside. In a strip mall next to ACE Hardware you'll be surprised. There are not many places to have breakfast in Cloverdale, so Zini's is about it besides Plank, Hamburger Ranch, Starbucks, McDonald's and a cute bakery downtown on 1st street (Bakery El Paloma with great breakfast burritos). Our waitress was wonderful, food came out quick. The restaurant has booths, table & chairs inside and limited outside sidewalk dining. The portions are large, I didn't even finish the Huevos Rancheros, in fact all three of us had leftovers. My MIL had the breakfast quesadilla & only ate half. It came with choice of side & she ordered crispy hash browns and they were perfect. Prices are typical these days and we enjoyed our meal. read more

After 4 days of getting lost amongst the Mendocino redwoods and Sonoma Coast, it was time to make my way back inland. My partner and I wanted a delicious breakfast and cloverdale was the first cute little town to catch my eye for settlement. I ended up walking into Zini's, the building is huge! It can definitely accommodate large parties. Around the walls is sprinkled with different kinds of art, with the beautiful agriculture and even cowboy classics. I think what caught my eye were the vintage cereal boxes on the wall. They're probably older than me! The gentleman to take my order was very polite and patient as I asked my tons of questions. This is one of my first interactions with people having been in a deadzone for three days. I was very glad to see a warm smile and a happy face in such a nice establishment. The food came out quickly, the biscuits and gravy were pretty good, but I would say they were on the sweet side and if you're a sweet tooth fan, I would say, these are definitely for you! I ended up getting the chorizo skillet and it's got a soft kick of spice, and I could definitely say I was able to handle it. Not too spicy, if anything, the delicious bell peppers and fresh pica de gallo made it all worth it. Everything was great, at least for me and my hubs! read more

Came into the restaurant it was very nice looking and had a party of 10 there were two tables side by side with six empty chairs on each table and there was a large group of people having their coffee already finished their meals. But I guess they're doing so well they couldn't accommodate 10 people in their restaurant trying to order food. So I can't really rate them other than one star because I didn't even get the chance to look at a menu. Thank goodness the hamburger ranch was available serve breakfast till 11:00 and the service was outstanding and the food was almost like home cooked. Otherwise I think we would have had to skip our meal so thank you again to the restaurant that was accommodating and the food was delicious. As for the other restaurant thank you for nothing. I went online and the non accommodating restaurant serves breakfast all day. So the only thing that seems to stand out to me is the fact that I had brought my autistic grandson into the restaurant and he was making noises. I have no other information to base the reason why we were turned away. read more

3 stars for breakfast. 0 for lunch. Because what is this grilled cheese??? I got 3 of them and it's just wonder bread with 2 cheese slices... the fries were cold. And I couldn't go back because 1) I have hungry kids and 2) they were closing. Everyone is always super nice here and I always recommend it but.. I'm highly disappointed in this one. We love this place! We just moved to Cloverdale for a few months, and the gentleman (the owner?) who serves us has been so welcoming and kind! He lets us share a big breakfast and gives excellent, friendly service, even bringing my partner a birthday dessert after breakfast. The food is very good too, love the chicken apple sausage omelet option, as my partner doesnt eat pork or beef. Plus they have VERY comfortable booths, a real plus for us achey-boned seniors who like to linger over coffee after. Overall, great food, great service, comfy booths and such a sweet server/owner, what more could you want? read more

On our visit to wine country remembering our wedding location, we stopped by this location for a bite. Our experience was 10/10. I got the chicken parmigiana and my wife got the steak sandwich, oh boy large portions, tasty food, and cold beer. The service and staff were exceptional. Totally recommend this local spot. We had an amazing waitress. Her name was Marissa and she was super helpful and kind and we had some fun together. The restaurant is very large and airy and is a kind of seat yourself style even though they will see you. One of us had a mimosa, which was all champagne. We talked extensively about the menu. I chose to order the chicken fried steak because it's pan fried and made from scratch where they actually beat out the steak. That's not very common. Most restaurants will use frozen chicken fried steak. Hashbrowns were overdone. The eggs were past medium. The sourdough bread was out of this world with real butter. Now my big complaint was the packaged out of a box gravy. I don't understand why you would go through all the trouble of making this beautiful chicken fried steak from scratch, all that time And put packaged gravy on it. That was the nastiest gravy I've ever had and I do not expect to spend $18 on packaged gravy. I could've done that at home. But I personally make a better gravy from scratch . The corn beef hash was really good. It was a little salty for me but yummy corn beef, My other friend had just a basic two egg breakfast. To be honest, the package gravy just ruined the breakfast. 8/13/2023: I have had breakfast here at Zini's Diner with my first-born daughter, Joy and her husband, Mike last year. Zini's Diner has a myriad of breakfast fare which makes it difficult choosing which you want inhaling; however, I want inhaling Zini's Diner entire menu selection, minus the pancakes: I never liked consuming pancakes as a child and as an older adult, I still can't fathom inhaling pancakes so, I opt for an omelette breakfast. Moreover, I haven't had the opportunity inhaling Zini's Diner lunch fare; however, I'll make a point eating lunch in the near future. read more

Stopped here on a road trip from the Bay Area en route to Fort Bragg. Yelp reviews brought us here and boy are we glad we did. Huge menu with a vast variety of choices. Breakfast served all day I think. Being vegetarian I had a delicious veggie burrito chock full of a variety of fresh stuff. Well cooked and served nicely. Lots of choices with included sides. I happily chose the fresh fruit salad. No regrets. My wife had a corned beef skillet with potatoes, peppers, onions and a two eggs over easy on top. Warm tortillas on the side. Rarely does she do this but she almost finished the whole thing. The pet dog waiting in the car did get a small piece of the corned beef. Service was efficient and friendly. The restaurant was sparkling clean. If one chose paying the check was fully automated using an iPhone. Highly recommend this fine establishment, be sure to bring your appetite. read more

Came here for a late lunch. Service was friendly and attentive. The restroom and dining area were clean. A couple of tv's with the A's game on. The food came out quickly. I had the Cesar salad with bay shrimp. My salad was dressed well and there was a large amount of shrimp. My mom ordered the mushroom burger, she said the burger was dry and under seasoned. My dad had the hot turkey sandwich. He also thought the turkey was dry. He said the vegetables were good. The plate unfortunately looked like it came from a cafeteria. I went here today with some friends after the Cloverdale craft fair to grab a bite to eat. We aren't local and the menu looked just right. The food was delicious and well prepared and the service was exemplary. Next time we are up in Cloverdale we'll definitely come by. This is a classic diner. Fun and fast service by waitstaff who are professional. Classic fare plus some fun additions. Coffee is Ok, food is nicely cooked and S&P are on the table so you can season the food up as you wish. Florentine eggs were beautiful and chicken fried steak was pounded thin and tender. we stopped by cloverdale for a quick lunch en route to mendocino county and this place seemed to be a nice quick stop. i'm a sucker for brunch so of course i ordered the veggie scramble: egg whites scrambled with mushrooms, onions, bell peppers, spinach , topped with slices of avocado. it came with a side of fruit and whole wheat toast (not pictured). my hubby ordered the french dip with french fries and enjoyed the juicy meat in the sammy but felt the fries were just ok. my meal was tasty and i like the portion size, except that when they brought my plate, the small plate of toast was dropped (very loudly i might add) onto the floor so i had to wait another 5-10' for new toast to arrive. when it did, the 4 slices were covered in heavy butter...this was a first! i like buttered toast but this was just too much! i actually had to scrape most of it off so that i could enjoy the actual bread underneath the mountain of butter! when the bill came they had charged us for 2 sodas when we only ordered 1 so we had to wait for that to be corrected before paying and leaving. good eats, reasonable prices, but mediocre service. read more

My wife and I come here on Sunday mornings for breakfast. We have been coming for five years. I have been appreciating it more and more as I compare with other options. For example, breakfast is always served hot. Adel's in Healdsburg can't seem to do this simple feat. The hash brown potatoes are the best I have ever had anywhere. I notice that they have improved over time. The proper browning and the sprinkling with green onions is a nice touch. So many places use cooking oil that imparts an unpleasant aftertaste, not here. Zini's has perfected the art of cooking a simple dish. From time to time, I will order something that is not on the menu, like a Monte Cristo sandwich. There is nothing on the menu that I would warn people of, all good. I like the eggs Benedict and the country Benedict, waffles, pancakes, and Huevos rancheros. Jenifer is my favorite waitress, but everyone is good. Getting a meal to the table when it is hot means that the whole process is working smoothly. Zini's does this every time, day after day, year after year. read more

Came to check out this diner in the morning after kayak camping at Lake Sonoma, but unfortunately forgot it was Mother's Day and the place was packed! Great for business but real bad for us. Thankfully we got seated quickly by the hostess who took and delivered our drink order right away: Coffee and a water. Then we reviewed the menu for a long time, and people watched for even longer. Awhile after our drinks went dry we noticed the seemingly only waitress was just now able to start taking the order of a significantly larger group that sat long before us, at which point we realized it'd be a long long long while before we'd get to order and it would be even longer for the food to arrive since we'd be behind these huge groups in the queue. Our stomachs growled from our trip and frankly got tired of hearing the back of house and front of house staff not living up to the "live laugh love" sign pinned over the kitchen, aka arguing in close proximity to us, so since we still hadn't met the waiter we just left cash on the table for the coffee and left for Plank. Was a bummer first experience but they seemed woefully understaffed for the holiday so we are hoping to give them another try in the future before we pass too harsh of judgement. Hopefully next time it will get a few more stars and in the meantime I hope they get a few more waiters. Coffee was good though and it's much larger of a restaurant than we anticipated. read more
