These guys might know a lot about bikes but they aren't the nicest bunch of people. They were almost down right rude when I came in for some information. As far as their prices go they are on the higher end. A tire truing will cost you 15 and a tune-up is 60. I would stay away. read more

I purchased an expensive bike from their shop, so when it came to getting it serviced, I never expected them to try to extort me when we brought it in for a tune up. Honestly, the bike was working great, but they wanted to replace bunch of parts for over $150. After having it for 4 days, I called to see if it was ready only to find out it would be another week. I drove up, picked up my son's bike untouched; and I will never return. Worst part is, I was considering purchasing another bike from them before this horrible customer experience. read more

Needed a new rim installed. Took 3 1/2 weeks. At first they said they could true the rim, even after pointing out a spot in the rim, but after almost a week, they report that they can't do anything for it. They were not informative through the process and had excuses each time I called why it wasn't finished yet. They would give me a timeframe, and then not stick to it. They were mostly polite enough, and the shop seem nice and clean. I just didn't like that I kept getting excuses, and I never spoke like a Karen to them, just FYI. read more

I stopped by Tuesday during my lunch break because I had a flat tire on my wheelchair. They had everything in stock, so I let them take my wheelchair while I sat in the front of the store on the couch. Being disabled for 8 years now, I've gone through this process roughly 10 times and it has never taken more than 10-15 minutes, which is why I thought I could do this on my lunch break. I was stuck on this couch for 40 minutes until someone finally came back to me with my wheelchair. I paid and left. By the very next morning, I had another flat tire. Ridiculously slow. Up-sold me on something I probably didn't need. Apparently can't guarantee their work. Do better. read more

I first went to this location looking for a small white Momentum Vida low step bike. The gentleman "Matt"told me that there were no more left because he checked the manufacturer's inventory. He only had a black one in his stock. I asked if my preference could be ordered. He said it would take 12 weeks but he said the newer models were coming out. My wife found the bike from a company in Pennsylvania. They promptly shipped the bike to us. Once we received the bike I took the bike over to Planetary cycles to finish the assembly which they said it would cost $100. over the phone. I took it there and informed a lady worker of my needs. Then the owner Adam rudely showed up and told me that the bike dealership that sold it should have never sent me the bike, it should have been shipped to an authorized bike dealer to finish the assembly. I informed him I was going to pay the $100 assembly fee. He said I'm sure you will pay. He wanted the box and all credentials to prove my purchase. I drove home several times to satisfy his request. I had shown him the registration, emails, and receipt of our purchase. Then he requested a photo of the box from the other company. My wife said I think they believe you stole the bike. When I told Adam this, then he said no he just wanted the manufacturer to pay for the assembly even though I was paying. I later called the other bike dealership and spoke to the nice owner and he said they can ship bikes directly to customers and to dealerships. The owner informed me that this dealership owner Adam probably was upset because we didn't purchased the bike from them. Later Adam said the manufacturer would contact me to reimburse me of the assembly fee, which they never did. Good luck dealing with this dealership. read more

16 hours ago-Edit I took my son in today (May 2nd) to find a bike. I was astonished to see that some of the staff wore masks, and most did not. The person helping us was nice, but did not have a mask and did not pay mind to social distancing. My son and I had masks and gloves. The staff person helping us acted as if nothing was going on. In fact, I saw lots of people inside (shoppers and other staff) who were not mindful of distancing nor wearing protective gear. Nor did I see any sterilizing of bikes going on after customers touched them. No staff person was at the front door regulating the numbers of patrons coming in. Very irresponsible method of operating in a pandemic. I won't be going back. read more

Great place to check out for the inexperienced bike rider! My husband and I came here looking for hybrid bikes to cruise around town in. I am what you call athletically challenged. I don't exercise, do the gym, participate in sports, or know anything about sporting equipment. I entered this store clueless about bicycles and came out with a basic knowledge about cycling. This store has a huuge selection of bikes!!! The staff is very informative so don't hesitate to ask any questions. Adam, our salesperson, was very knowledgable! He got to know us in order to discover what types of bikes would fit our personalities and needs. He recommended us affordable yet popular, quality bikes and let us take them for a test drive to see what we best preferred. There is a huge public parking lot in front of the store where you can test out bikes. I recommend going to the back lot of the store to test out the bikes- there's an empty parking lot out back with lots of room to ride around. I ended up purchasing a Giant hybrid bicycle and my husband a Cannondale mountain bike. We could not be happier! Definitely try this place out for the extensive bicycle options and great service. read more

I gotta give it to Stephan at Planetary Bikes for filling my ears up with a lot of good information. You can talk about brands and grouppos all day but you won't know what you like until you get on a bike and ride. I think it's cool that they rent out bikes here to go riding for the day and they'll even let you ride out on a bike you're going to potentially buy. They didn't have much in stock when I went because it was the end of the buying season and the new 2010 models were coming in but I appreciate them answering every single question I had without the hassle of buying anything. That's when you know you're passionate about what you do. They sell Giants and Cannondale Road bikes so if you like those brands, check 'em out. read more

We've used Planetary Cycles for our bike repairs in the past. After Harvey, all three of our bikes were effectively ruined. The replacement bike for my son was an inexpensive bike from a discount big box store. We had gift cards and its purchase seemed like a logical way to spend the money. Well, this new bike didn't shift correctly. I took it in today and the tech made some minor adjustments, and at a very reasonable price. I was in and out in less than five minutes. Have been going to Planetary Cycles since they were on Braeswood and Stella Link and had the rebar skeleton out front. My son named him "Mr. Skelton." Great shop with true customer service. Not a 'barn' or 'big box' place, they are cyclists and know their stuff. They just spent 30 minutes getting a tire to seat on my old hybrid rim. Very cool folks who treat their customers well.
