Recently purchased a mid range-priced road bike through this shop and also had it fitted. Staff is very knowledgeable and passionate about all things cycling related--gear, maintenance, training, events, etc. Mechanics very patient and willing to spend time educating the customer about technical aspects of bike maintenance and utility of different gear you can interchange with your ride (tires, tubes, wheel sets, etc). Staff even willing and able to answer technical maintenance questions over the phone. Bike doctors. When was the last time you experienced that from a bike shop? Bike fitting was useful in optimizing geometry of the rig for comfort, efficiency, and speed. Found the session with Brian (owner and former pro) to be educational. Explained the data generated by Retul and the reasons for each tweak to the bike. It was also a good chance to pick his brain on training and his experience riding competitively. These guys are experts. Probably, one of only two shops in town and the burbs where they have a tech that knows Campagnolo (Brian).

For reference, I purchased and had a left-side Stages power meter installed. Have purchased some tubes and chains. Lastly, Brian did a full bike fit on an existing bike and custom foot inserts. I live 45 min away and have no other reason to to to that part of town. With all that said, the shop is perfect for bike service. Watching the lead wrench, was like watching a craftsman. The dedication to doing the work right was as if he was working on his own bike and his life depending on it. I have visited bike shops in at least five counties, and his dedication and focus left me feeling I could trust my bike and just ride. The bike fit leaves most in the dust. The use of a motion sensing camera and pressure pads is the only was to get a proper bike fit. Brian has two monitors to show you your bio-mechanics in real time in too many metrics to list here. He does a fantastic job explaining the metrics and why they matter. I could see where I was putting too much pressure on one spot on my saddle, and I could see how those red areas on the monitor would grow smaller or disappear with his adjustments. The thing about a bike fit is you have to trust the fitter. I have complete trust in Brian's work. The days of someone looking at you on the bike and dangling a plum line from your knee are over. read more

Being a noob to road cycling, I initially walked in anxiously as this place seems geared toward the serious rider. However, I was immediately greeted and helped by Ryan. Friendly and humble dude who went above and beyond in diagnosing the problem and getting it fixed, while explaining everything along the way. Needed a simple bike fix in a timely manner. My regular bike shop doesn't open til noon. The bike shop closest to my other errand not til 11. I didn't even know about Bicycle Speed, but they open at 10, and ten minutes was all it took to fix my tire and save my camping trip. The guy was friendly, professional, gave me a good price, and was very pandemic careful, which I appreciate, though it meant I couldn't go in and look at the bike toys. Purchased my bike from Brian. Included is a full Retul fit with a one-year free refit. Best fit system there is. Literally watched the hot spots disappear from the saddle as the fit progressed and Brian explained the mechanics. Some time later was fitted with Retul insoles. Brian put me on my bike again to make sure the fit was still just right. They even make sure your other cycling shoes are set up the same way. Ryan keeps my bike in perfect mechanical condition. I take it in early spring and tell him to get it just right and he does. If I have an issue he will work me in. I drive all the way from the Brenham area to have these guys work on my bike, fit, etc. Just a great environment created by people who love what they do. Worth every bit of the drive. Great coffee bar as well -- great to sip while getting some mech work done or just to hang a bit. I have even done some work on the big coffee table in the back when in a time pinch.
