I have been riding bikes my whole life. I had purchased an entry level bike and was ready for an Upgrade. I called and talked to Daryl Catching, the owner. He spent a long time on the phone with me and we had a great conversation. It got me excited to see the shop. I rode my bike to the shop on a Sunday. Normally they are closed on Sundays, but it was the week before Christmas. It wasn't as busy as predicting, so Daryl put me on the fit bike. We spent 2 hours total working on different layouts. In the end we picked the bike that was perfect. I ordered it and 3 days later it arrived. I purchased an extra set of wheels. The shop guys made sure I had the tires I wanted on the wheels I wanted. Taking time to answer questions. In the end, I have a new LBS, meeting new people to ride with and a new bike. Daryl is great and a trustworthy guy. Not just trying to push out bikes. read more

You charged me 5x the price you quoted me, I paid. and you wouldn't let me leave with my property,, even after I had paid. you forced me to keep charging me to get my property. I was duplicate charged five times by you. I was made to call my bank. That was the only way I could leave with my property. No refund was offered for the 5 charges for the repair work. Owner is extremely rude. Other employees are pretty friendly. My wife wanted to go in to see what size bike she needed and the owner essentially blew her off as I was trying on shoes. He was obviously about to go out and ride and she was just wanting some simple questions answered. Said it would be $125 to just get fitted and try on a few bikes. She laughed. I was about to spend around $300 on shoes and pedals when I saw this. Told them we're going to pass due to the owners rude attitude to potential new customers. This isn't my first time up there either and found him to be rather rude when asking about a bunch of repairs that were needed to restore my bike. I figured it was an off day and didn't think anything of it. Highly recommend going into Houston or Webster/Clear Lake over this place. Don't shop at THIS local store. It's a bicycle shop so this place should not have too many issues, but the owner seems to feel that since he is now the only shop in this area; and people usually just want to get back on their bike, that he can over-charge and be rude to his customers. Be wary of scams such as being charged $20 for a spoke repair, only to have another spoke break shortly after. I also suggest reading some of the "not recommended" reviews for this shop; as well as the owner's responses, before deciding if these are the type of people you want to give your family's business to. read more

I took my husband's old bike in to fix a flat tire. He's had this old Walmart bike since before we got married 8 years ago, and just now started riding it again. We wait in line because Corona... two customer limit inside the store. When it's finally my turn a nice young girl comes to see what I need. She takes our bike to the back corner to fix the flat. I overhear her conversation with the other guy in the back corner also working on bikes. She is apparently puzzled by something and the guy asks her, "What are you looking at?" She says, "I'm trying to figure out what this is, I haven't seen these before." This dude says, "Oh, those are CRAPPY shifters!" And "the new version of the old school," and "We call those Wal Shifters" she was like "huh?" And he was like "Yeah, Wal Shifters... Walmart shifters!" Haha. Yeah it was really embarrassing standing there while he is talking crap about my husband's bike. The guy at the register asked me if I was being helped, if they had my bike. I wanted to be petty and say "Yeah, they do, it's the bike with the CRAPPY shifters." But I didn't feel like being a Karen that day. It was our first time in the store. They had a good selection of bikes and lots of fancy bike stuff. They had a good social distance policy. But it wasn't cool hearing the employees talk mess about our bike. It felt like elementary school where the kids make fun if you don't have name brand shoes and clothes. My husband is having lots of fun on his old Walmart bike and if he decides he wants a new one we will NOT go to Pearland Bike Shop. read more

They put an old or used (it was dusty and they pulled it from under the counter) tube in my bike and "discarded" my original tube that they said had no problem with it. I forgot to take my original tube with me and they said they had cut it in half and discarded it. Edit: The owner called me and said my review was slander and asked me to edit or remove it (he asked me to do this 3-4 times). He gave me another tube to replace my original, and said that they don't patch tubes. He said that any tubes left at the shop are trash, so they cut and discard them. When he gave me the new tube, I noted that it was rubberbanded and said I didn't see that yesterday. He said that he had taken the rubber and off and we could go look at the security footage if I wanted to get "technical". I feel like the issue is resolved because he gave me another tube, but I do think they were more focused on me removing my review instead of correcting the situation. I told him this and he said that there was nothing to correct. They did fix my flat, but I don't think I'll be back just based on the interactions through text, in-person, and phone afterwards. read more

Possibly the worst ever customer service i have experienced....ever. As a courtesy, i know it's rude to wheel you bike into a store assuming they have the time to take you. I walk in and ask ahead of time and check the scheduling for what services were needed. After discussing whats needed, employee A said, yeah, sure bring it in......well, i wheel in my bike and someone (assuming the owner) walks by and say, they're booked for the next few weeks, make an appointment, leave and take your bike with you....make an appointment. I think the not so casual hint was, don't bring your bike back here, not welcome. Overall, nothing special about this bike shop......seems to shill one brand of bike, not too much variety when you walk in. I think their ideal customer is someone who is new to biking, wanting to get into their first bike and are happy with the endless off the shelf boxed bikes they offer. End of the day, I wouldn't step foot back in this store. I would highly recommend Gear Monkey about 10 minutes down the road for your bike needs. Skip this place for sure. read more

They've taken the "get out of my hobby store" to a whole new THE UPDATE: The owner of this business found me on a bicycle group on Facebook and proceeded to re-lecture me on what a famous rock star BMX rider the young girl was, and doubled down on how worthless BMX is to sell. He attempted to shame me by portraying me as being a bully to a girl and attacking small business. This is just a lot of effort to try to defend rude service. read more

I wanted a specific Specialized bike model and this store was the closest location that had it in stock. Ordered/paid online and that went smoothly. Wish the communication was a little better--but in the end we all worked through it. I get it--that they are busy. But they were super accommodating to get my bike to me and I appreciated that since I drove 7 hours round trip to get it. They were super nice in build process and helped me load it into my car. I went in on Monday afternoon to get measured or fit for a bike. There was a short line outside the store, but it moved pretty quickly. Once in the store, I was able to be sized for a bike, and got to "test drive" it....but NOT without a helmet, first. I called to place my order on Tuesday afternoon, and picked my bike up today (Friday). Today's line was 10 people deep, but we were all conversing while we waited outside. Daryl (owner) came outside and checked on us, which I thought was nice. Once in the store, I was able to pick up my bike, have the seat adjusted, and the bike put in my vehicle. After trying to fix my cruiser 3 times and not being successful, I was on the verge of giving in and buying a new one. Then I saw the prices for new bikes and was like wow! Prices for bikes have really gone up since I last purchased my bike 12 years ago. I took two bike in to Pearland Bicycles and was skeptical they would be able to fins my old Cruiser and an old Mongoose. Both the owner, Darrell, and his staff are awesome!!! They were very knowledgeable and friendly. They were busy and we arrived there at closing time, but you couldn't tell because they treated us like family. I will be bringing my other old bikes for turns-ups soon. And if I have to buy a bike and will definitely buy it from here. read more

I purchased my new full suspension mountain bike from Pearland Bicycles and it was a great experience. I wanted a specific model and color of the new Trance 2. They ordered the bike and I believe it was the first one in Houston at the time. I stopped in to have the rear derailleur looked at and the team adjusted it within minutes and explained some of the adjustments to me. Apparently I bent the hanger and they straightened it and it worked flawlessly. Great shop and highly recommended. read more

Love stopping by this shop. The guys here are really friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. Had to get a water bottle holder recently and the guys were super helpful to ask questions before setting us up with an adjustable handlebar mount. My current bike doesn't have predrilled holes so an attachable one was best for what I need right now. Had the bike with so they went out and measured the bar and got us the correct fitting one. Talk about top notch customer service! Can't wait to take the bike for a ride this weekend and test it out. No more carrying bottles in pockets or bags. read more

Very poor customer service. Called in several times to check repair status and call taker was very rude. Then was promised when it was ready we could call in and they would walk it out to us do to social distancing. That was incorrect. They made us wait in line for 45 minutes.
