Great Bike shop. Great customer service, I have used them some of my more esoteric bike maintenance and sustaining work having come to houston a few years ago. Just bought a dream bike there, Urban exemplify why you buy dream bikes locally, and not via mail order. -jim read more

I'm a repeat customer! Cool bike store by Memorial Park inside Rice Military on corner of Rose and Shepherd. Website is up to date and I was debating between the Brooklyn Bike or a Momentum Vida bike. I bought an orange beach cruiser Brooklyn Bike last year and have loved it! I found the Vida step thru more comfortable for me with a nice padded seat and somewhat upright handles. Reviews online indicated that it's a great bike to ask from your boyfriend, if things don't work out, you'll still have the best ride! They installed a kick stand for me and gifted me a bell. I had a great ride this morning so smooth and comfortable. Prices are moderate to high, chill place with a resident dog. Staff helpful and knowledgeable. Love to support local biz. Highly recommended! read more

I've reviewed them once on google, so wanted to come here to give another 5 stars! Walked my bike over to see if they could fix a flat I sustained on my ride over to the gym! Sure enough I was greeted right away by lady in the front. Told her my issues and a man named Wes came right over and said "yeah I can do it!" with great enthusiasm and a smile. He did it so quick! And greased my chain and wiped down my frame too! Also other friendly employees in there offered me a Topo Chico or a White Claw on the house! Great experience. Thanks guys! Rode home very happy. read more

I had an overwhelmingly positive experience. The staff went out of their way to make my experience excellent, whether answering all of my questions to offering me a complimentary Topo Chico while I browsed and waited. Guillermo was an absolute Rockstar who not only assembled and installed my Kuat Sherpa hitch mount, but he stayed with me to patiently go over all of its features. He even showed me some things about my bike that I wasn't aware of. read more

Today I took my bike in for some much needed TLC. I hadn't rode it for about 3yrs., it's been in the garage idle.. I had the good fortune of meeting Daniel , aka BoBo! He gave it a full Bicycle Physical, and determined that the gears, chain, & tires needed servicing. All was taken care of in a little over 20 min. , no high pressure upselling. When I noticed a cute cup & cell phone holder attachment to purchase, he smiled and pointed out to me that I had those on my bike already..lol! The space is well kept, a good selection of bike accessories, including helmets, clothing , shoe, energy bars & hydration fueling's. BoBo even walked my bike out to my little SUV & placed it in the back all on his own, I didn't even ask him to do that. How kind.. They've earned a new customer in me. Ask for BoBo when you stop in, he's great! read more

I went there to get some air for my bike's tires after a bike ride at Buffalo Bayou. They were extremely nice and approachable. I was offered water (it was very hot that day) and they didn't even charge me for the air. They have definitely gained a new customer. I will support this business here forward and hope everyone gets the amazing service I got. I'm a fan. read more

Took my bike to get tuned up, I had stopped riding after Hurricane Harvey and so my bike sat around collecting dust and die. However I decided to tune it up here because I just loved my old bike and wow, I could not be happier with the work these folks did. They left it looking as close to new as I could imagine. And it's working perfectly from a mechanical perspective. If you're looking for a bike shop go here and trust that they will do a phenomenal job. read more

Rude as hell. After buying two bikes from these guys in the past year I got some serious attitude from a pretentious bald manager. I came in the other day asking about tannus armor tire inserts, of which UBG is an authorized dealer and installer. The cashier girl (nice person) didn't know what I was talking about and summoned a manager from the back. My man was clearly in a bad mood or had too much on his plate that day because he plainly turned his nose up at the idea of installing my tire inserts for me. When I confronted him about the shops dealer/installer status he claimed they'd only done it once and it was a huge pain in the butt, and the shop would have to charge me a minimum of $100 for labor. This rate would've been agreeable initially as I lack(ed) the proper tools for the job. However when confronted with the managers attitude and condescending tone, I decided to do the install myself. I'd rather save myself the money and deny this place the income than deal with that energy. The job required that I buy smaller tubes, so I asked him to at least grab them for me. He was under the incorrect assumption that the armor inserts required a proprietary brand specific bike tube which was not the case, leading me to believe he'd never dealt with these inserts and would rather wisk me out the door than help out a fellow cyclist. He had his cashier fetch my smaller tubes. I clearly overheard him instructing her to grab schrader valve when I would've preferred presta. Bald manager Dude, you're bad for your industry. read more

I just moved to Texas & needed get a tune-up & other minor service for my road bike & my wife's hybrid. Although they warned me they were busy, they still got our bikes back to us quickly. It would be impossible to over praise Urban Bicycle Gallery! I depend on my bike for transportation and health (30 lbs lost in 2020) and am trying to avoid the bus for Covid and fossil fuel reasons. I'm almost 70 and never felt better.! I really NEED My bike! It got a flat. I mentioned it to a neighbor, who kindly said he would fix it. No problem. When I went to pick it up, it was dis-assembled-- even the pedals and seat were off, the break assembly in a plastic bag, and on and on. Being a sane and responsible, I immediately burst into tears and asked him to put it back together. Long story short, I needed a bike shop, and asked Facebook and Google, which brought UBG to contact me. Yes! Eric, of UBG messaged me quickly. It took a lot of patience to ascertain what I needed, but he did and leapt into action. This old roller was impressed! I can't wait to be on the roads again, Schwinning myself to the grocery stores and doctor appointments. If you have been looking for a bike shop with REASONABLE PRICES, great people, expertise in everything bike-y, and what may be the best shop dog ever, look no further! URBAN BIKE GALLERY IS EXCELLENT! I wish there were more stars to give. read more

Eric runs an amazing shop. I've bought three bikes here in the last year and will probably buy more before the year is out. They only place I shop, because the pristine store, the top of the line bikes, and the expert and helpful people. They always go above and beyond but the latest feat was when I arrived at 5 after 5:00pm on Saturday not realizing they closed at 5pm. They let me come in and ended up doing almost a complete tune up on the bike. No complaints, and all great attitudes from them all. Thank you so much. read more

Excellent service . Came here to look for a bike for mysef and my kid. Even though they didn't have exactly what we were looking for, we left with smiles and just had a wonderful experience. Meredith and Malis answered all of our questions patiently and just truly sharing their knowledge and enthusiasm about bikes and riding. They were so nice and down to earth, the way a local bike shop should be. If that wasn't enough, they had the cutest store dogs to boot. Highly recommend this bike shop! read more

I bought my mountain bike from there 6 years ago and moved out of Houston for LA. Life took me back to TX, bike was in storage for 3 years, tires flat and I didn't know if it needed a tune up. Took it in today, Israel took a look at it. Filled it with air, greased the chain, and said everything was good. He gave me honest and useful information and didn't even charge me. Israel and the team here are solid. I've been to them 4 or 5 times in the past 6 years and they are good. I picked up my Raleigh Revere at this bike store because Raleigh sent it over there to be built. This is the best bike store in Houston; their staff is utterly amazing and super helpful to all your biking needs. Their inventory is huge and they can take you to their storage room so you can see more colours/sizes, and if they don't have that in stock, then they can order that for you. I am getting ready for more long distance bike riding and for the MS 150 next year and this store (more like a community, tbh!) is getting me prepped for it! Ps. The guys working here are very friendly and not overly pushy! They have great knowledge and also have great bikes. I brought my Specialized S-Works bike into their shop to get a front derailleur adjustment. They also lubed my chain and told me my bike needed a tune up and a cable change they quoted me $140 which included removal of all of the hardware in a parts washer and a complete bike wash. They then charged me $21 for about five minutes of adjustment work said the chain looked ok on wear and made the appointment. I dropped my bike off two days early and they called me the day of my appointment when my bile was up on the rack and said that the total cost quoted did not include the labor, they said the chain need replacement and the cable housing was not included with the cables and they also needed to replace the handlebar tape (understandable)... but for everything $275. I told them to take it off the rack and I would simply pick it up, they told me that they had already started on it so I let them finish the tune up and cable changes (not the cable housings). Just picked up my bike and they did a decent job cleaning the rotating parts but the bike was still dirty in places. Summary, They were initially not very clear about the charges and the required work. Update; The owner Eric called me back later that day after posting my review, was very cool, apologized and said they should not have charged me $21 for the initial adjustments seeing as they were going to be doing a full tuneup. His workers had simply not followed protocol correctly and he made it right. He also refunded me for the tuneup (which he really didn't need to). He also said he would be speaking with his staff about making it clearer for the work needed with the customers This guy was nice and embodies what great service should be. I was so impressed with him we spoke about getting more work done to my cassette and other parts. I will be going back and this is now my bike shop! read more
