I got the "The Experience" it's a signature hot sandwich featuring grilled chicken, bacon, pepperoni, pepper jack, cream cheese, jalapeños, and chipotle sauce. It was delicious! So much flavor and just the right amount of heat. It was pretty empty when I went. I placed my order and everything was ready in about 5 mins. Pretty typical sandwich shop vibes. I love Planet Sub for the vegetarian options. The Tempeh Parm with extra sauce is my favorite. This location always has knowledgeable and friendly employees, great music, and fast service. I do feel like the place could use a deep cleaning with a bottle of Windex, however. The framed photos on the wall have smudges and fingerprints all over them and the front window is smeared with fingerprints and goo. Not very pleasant to look at while enjoying this delicious food. Came for a quick lunch. No line at the register but it still took 10 minutes for our sandwich to arrive. I can appreciate it's back there being freshly made but we started joking that someone must be behind on plucking the chickens. The in house hand made bun was very substantial, not the standard airy puff. The chicken bacon sandwich really needed some zip. I added pickles hoping that might help, but overall still bland. I love Planet Sub. A lot of the ones on the Missouri side have closed so while I was on the Kansas side last week I stopped in to get my fix. I always order The Experience! By far my favorite sandwich I can get anywhere! It always comes out piping hot and it is not short on ingredients. The inhouse made bread is another reason I keep coming back. Absolutely awful experience ordered food that GrubHub was supposed to deliver called the restaurant an hour and 45 minutes after the order was placed and they had still not picked it up. I informed them I would drive there myself to pick it up please do not let GrubHub take it if they show up and when I arrived after driving 30 minutes t(two hours after I ordered) had just picked up my food. So wow, was definitely not expecting to have one of the best sandwiches I have ever had today... But I did and I will be back. This is coming from a Chicagoan too. Location: 5/5 - I mean it's near a bunch of stuff and in a pretty hopping area and is easy to get to, so can't really say anything negative. Atmosphere: 4/5 - It's comfy inside and the decor is fine. Potbelly's is obviously a chain and it puts emphasis on its interior design, but this place was nice. Service: 5/5 - The cashier was such a nice guy. I told him it was my first time and that I am from Chicago and usually stick to Potbelly's. He told me he had never been to PB (I do not blame him after this sandwich) and he gave me some recommendations. He also gave me a little discount because it was my first time which was very generous and totally unnecessary, but greatly appreciated. Food: 5/5 - When you take your first bite and you lose your train of thought, you know you have just experienced true food glory. I ordered the bigger size of the Experience at the cashier's recommendation, and they are not lying with that name. I have never had cream cheese on a sandwich before, but it was out of this world. Now I have to go back and try their original sandwich that they are known for, but it will be hard not to get the Experience again. I first found Planet Sub through Yello Sub in Lawrence, and even then, I was totally late to the game. I was in Lawrence for five years, and only in the last six months did I figure out the wonderfulness that is a warm, toasted sandwich on house-made and fresh-cooked bread. And, therein lies the real secret to Planet Sub - solid ingredients and great flavor combinations on fresh, toasted bread. Sounds simple, but why do so few do it? I've had a handful of the sandwiches, and really love them all. The product here flies far above the average massive-national-chain sammy joint. I got stuck on the Pastrami Melt a while back, and stayed stuck for quite some time until someone at the Main Street store (south of the Country Club Plaza in KCMO) talked me into trying "The Experience" back when it was new. The end. I haven't had another sandwich since. On this occasion, I even talked the love of my life into taking the dive, and The Experience has another victim. Unfortunately, you come for the food, and really the food alone. It ought to speak volumes as to just how good the food is when you see many of the interiors (save the aforementioned Main Street store) at P-Subs, including this one. The decor needs help at that majority of the locations I've been to. Because I LOVE the Planet of Subs, I'll hold the witty pokes about just how bad they are. Also on the not-so-great side at this location: the customer service. The young lady taking orders on this instance was miserable about life, and it showed head-to-toe. I had never stepped foot into a Planet Sub until a few months ago. Can't believe I was missing out on such a tasty sub for so long! Roast beef is always my meat of choice on a sub and Planet Sub has tons of Roast Beef options. I was very pleasantly surprised by all the roast beef options. My husband heard great things about this place so we thought we would try it out! We went near closing time on Memorial Day and there was no one else there (surprise, surprise) I didn't catch the name of the sub artist but he was very helpful and very nice!! We asked him for some recommendations and he was able to give us some great suggestions. He even gave us a BOGO deal since it was our first time! I thought that was very thoughtful! I had the cheese-steak and it was soooo good! My husband preferred mine over his! He ordered the Tijuana Taxi and he liked his as well. Went to Planet sub on March 22nd, Sunday, around 3pm and it cost a whopping $39 bucks for 3 whole sandwich's, one medium drink, and one little bag of ships. We got a Rocket Pig with pulled pork and jalapeño's, a buffalo chicken, and a creamy crab. Now given this is right before the Coronavirus lockdown and food is carry out only; but I don't know what the heck the kitchen staff is doing back there during their slow business hours, because we all went home to discover later that we had diarrhea and stomach cramps. The creamy crab was not chopped up and mixed with cream cheese like it normally is; the creamy crab was one big chunk of crab thrown on: A piece of meat hanging on its side... Nasty. The buffalo chicken about made my step son puke. He said the chicken didn't even taste like chicken. Now given the rocket pig was reasonably tasty, but tasted a bit cold. I'm thinking they are not refrigerating all their meat back there during slow hours or something. Either way, my fiancé is suffering from a torn-up stomach and diarrhea from the damn Rocket Pig. This was the worse carry-out food experience I have ever had as far as food quality goes. And I've always enjoyed planet sub before. I go to Planet Sub more than I should based on quality. The reason? The offer a LOT of coupons, like 2-for-1. Well, there is a reason they offer so many coupons...I know for sure that I wouldn't go if it weren't for them. Alas, my cheapness is so strong that I will occasionally eat some sub-par food to save some dollars. Dollars which can go towards tasty beer, or other delights. Anyways, I live pretty close to this place, and have for 3 years. However, I've only been there 3 or 4 times, even with coupons, so I think that's telling. It takes FOREVER to get a sandwich - well beyond what a simple heating can excuse for. The people look miserable working there, and that comes off in customer interactions. The prices are a bit too high for the quantity you get. Finally, the food. If the food were awesome, it would make up for the other stuff. The taste of all sandwiches is rather bland and generic, the meats taste fatty and of low quality, the quantity of meat (as I mentioned) is low. Planet sub has an old school menu in which planet sub pays homage to the original menu. Standout sandwiched include the original Yello Sub, the Beefeater, and my personal favorite, the Tijuana Taxi. The quality of the food is fantastic. I'm pretty sure they bake the bread fresh every day. Highly recommended. This place makes me very nostalgic for the original yellow sub. read more

I'm not exactly sure why I overlook this restaurant, as the sandwiches are solid, though maybe not the best you'll find in the metro. Positives: -Wide selection of menu choices -Good sandwiches -Quick service and decent prices Negatives: -The menu choices differentiate this from other sub places, but places like Penn Station still have it beat. First time ordering from Planet Sub (only because our school ran a promo). Ordered it to be delivered, which ended up being through Door Dash. The order was completely WRONG! The Manager I spoke to took NO responsibility for the error either! He pushed it all onto the driver of Door Dash and said any refund or complaint would need to be worked out with Door Dash directly. The girl that originally answered the phone seemed to know about the order mix-up and said she would have to get with her Manager. They make bread from scratch and my favorite sub is the Tijuana taxi - all about those jalapenos. The service is always very friendly with a laid back vibe. We have a new planet sub in Cedar Park Texas. I took a coupon from the news paper that said buy one sandwich get one free. I ordered two large subs by telephone and then drove to the store to pick my order up. Once I got to the store I was told that the coupon was only good for the 6 inch sub. No place on the coupon does it specify size and I pointed that out to the clerk. He said that it was printed wrong by mistake. It was obvious that he was not going to honor the coupon. I left the store without my sandwiches and I will not return.
