Woohoo - Plan B finally opened their downtown location! Not only is it spacious, but it's also stunning inside with a gorgeous bar area. I was able to get a sneak peek of Plan B for a Yelp event and couldn't wait to come back! I am so happy I did! I LOVED the cauliflower. It is spicy, flavorful, and comes in a huge serving. It's NACHOVEMBER! So don't forget to check-in on Yelp for your $5 nachos! These were HEFTY. The serving was huge and topped with tons of goodies such as cheese, tomatoes, jalapeños, onions, and seasoned meat! I am excited to get this again! My partner ordered the bacon cheeseburger with a side of truffle parm fries! It satisfies a burger craving for sure as it was HUGE with yummy bacon! For my meal, I ordered the fish and chips. Unfortunately my fish smelled strongly like ammonia. Per my server, the cod comes in fresh everyday but I did have to send my dish back as the smell was very strong and I could not continue eating it. The team was able to take the item off the bill which was very generous of them! My partner ordered a beer and I ordered the prickly pear margarita! It was refreshing and super yummy. Much needed after a long day at work! Overall, Plan B is a fun space for after work, to watch a game, or a casual place to meet with friends. Got seated and waited about 20 minutes before a waitress told us she would get someone. Waited about another 10 minutes before we got up and left. Overheard the table next to us complain they asked for a check 15 minutes ago. Place was not packed and there was a lot of staff, but maybe they missed our table. read more

Burger, beer & bourbon. Went here pre concert. I ordered a breakfast burger, no bun. I was expecting a nice thick juicy burger with bacon and egg on top. What I got was an over cooked dry thin slab of tasteless meat. An overcooked egg and no bacon. Unbelievable, you would think the burgers here would be spectacular. Don't bother. Since the food offerings in the convention center are so limited, I walked to Plan b for lunch. I was starving, so I enjoyed my Breakfast Burger and chips. Unfortunately, service was slow at the bar, even though the bartenders were friendly. I know seating was hard to come by because of 90s Con, but in the future, I wouldn't allow groups larger than 3 people to sit at the bar to eat. So disappointing. The service was truly awful My colleague and I walked in to a not very busy restaurant and there was not a host or worker in sight. We waited 7-10 mins (again no one in sight all that time) until my colleague went to the bar and asked if someone could seat us. "I'll be right there" and 5 minutes later we were seated. We then sat at the table for at least 15-20 mins as we tried to look for someone who could tell us who our server was so we could order drinks and food. Turns out it was the guy who seated us. We ordered our food and I ordered a coke which I got maybe 20 minutes later. I wanted to love the food but I realized the server never asked how I wanted my burger cooked so it was well done and kind of tasteless. Isn't this a burger place and isn't it standard to ask how you want a burger cooked? We finished eating and again could not find our server for our check. This went on for maybe 15 mins. We noticed others were looking for their server too for their check. Turns out - my colleague found all three or four workers sitting in a booth in the back. Not a care in the world apparently? Such a disappointing experience. Never had such bad service before, like no awareness of time and that people need to get back to work and can't take 1.5 hour lunches! I have been to a few Plan B in my time; really like the one in Mass. I was wasn't aware of one in downtown so I figured it was closer to home and went. one of the worst experience ever I felt. first the soda was flat than the waiter brought my partners food out earlier than mine to not be seating in the warmer to long while my burger was getting done which we appreciate it, but than he left without giving her utensiles which I thought he going to get. had to get up and go to the host for the untensiles 7 min later due to sherperd pie was getting cold. lets not go with prensentation of the both meal. Felt like I was in a highschool cafeteria. my buger was burnt and dry with no taste and my mash potatos looked like fufu with no gravy. Really disappointed as other Plan B locations are always on point. As someone who works nearby in Downtown, was so happy to hear Plan B was coming in to add to the post work Happy Hour scene that has been missing. Unfortunately service has been so slow. This location has an opportunity to thrive but the service needs to improve. Listing off incorrect beers they have on tap, taking forever to serve people as they are having their own conversations. I have been there three times and always the same experience. I wish they had brought in some of their rockstar staff from other locations. Will continue to try it and hope that it improves. Very disappointing first visit here. We are used to a very high standard at Plan B. There were about 4 waiters there. Very few people. Although no one was sitting at the bar, our drinks took almost 15 minutes to arrive. Ran out of red sauce. Ran out of ground beef. Child's beverage never arrived after several requests. Arrived at 12:30pm for lunch. Ordered an appetizer and two burgers. The appetizer didn't come out for 45 minutes, and when the burgers came out mine was cold. The waiter was moving at the pace of a snail, barely checked on us, and never apologized the inexplicable wait. I will never step foot in Plan B again. I went there with a friend before a show at Infinity Music Hall across the street. We walked in and up to where you check in and got today ignored but a water ringing up a order. Finally after 10 minutes we were seated and given water being told someone would be right with us. Ten minutes go by and no one came over. We continues to sit there for 1p more minutes and the woman that seated us said no one came over and said I did tell him. We sat here for 5 more mins still no one came over to take our order. At this point we got up and left what terrible service. On a side not there was no air conditioning working. Had lunch here with a coworker. The food was fine, as in OK, but it didn't feel like a $14 lunch. I had the cheeseburger with fries. Burger was nothing special. I've been to WH location many times, and for whatever reason I'm OK with the prices because of the flavor/quality of the meal. This time, I was fairly annoyed that I paid $14! Five Guys would've been much more bang for the buck. The fries were plentiful and served nicely in the standard Plan B container, but maybe they ran out of the fresh hand cut fries I'm used to? When you get Plan B meal that's "on," it works. This lunch was "meh," and left me feeling like I could've done much better. read more

This restaurant came highly recommended by locals and we were greatly disappointed. Ordered fish and chips takeout. First, menu says it comes with coleslaw and tarter sauce. We received neither. Called them to ask about it and first we were told they were out, then told it no longer comes with it. Either way since the menu listed it, please notify your customer in advance and mute yourself discussing the issue while the customer is on the phone. Second, the fries tasted days old; hard and chewy. Third, the fish was only fair. Let's hope it was gf as stated in the menu and that hasn't changed too. read more

Went here for lunch last week with a coworker. We got there at 12 and asked if it would be possible to do lunch because we have to be back in the office at 1... they said no problem! Well that was not the case. Not only was service extremely slow, but they also got both of our orders wrong. We are on a low carb diet (which we told our server), so we ordered no buns, well we got buns and tots on the burger salad. One of our burgers had to be sent back because it was completely raw in the center. That took forever until 1pm. Then a gentleman came by and said sorry about everything and slapped one frozen cookie on the table. Umm ... hi the diet thing, and one frozen cookie? Dude that's sad!! How about taking money off the tab? Considering the raw burger came back when we had to be back in the office and couldn't be eaten. Btw this isn't the first incident like this at this location. I was a fan of the West Hartford branch. The Hartford branch delivers the same top notch burgers, with a newly renovated interior.

Headed to the bar for a few drinks, bartender was attentive and service was great! Had a slightly different experience when the location was newly open, but things seem to have turned around for the better! Incredibly disappointed! I was so looking forward to going to dinner with my husband. We were seated and forgotten about...and when a waitress finally came over, she admitted as much. She "wasn't told" we were seated...Okay, that is fine, we figured that happened. We gave our drink and food order and it took forever to get a drink...My food arrived and a few minutes later my husbands. We were never asked if we were all set, if we wanted another drink or how our meal was going. My husband had to go to the front to ask for our bill as we were literally forgotten about. I am sad to say it was the WORST service I have ever experienced, which is sad because the food and drink was great...(I had a margarita and the sliders appetizer with parm fries and my husband a beer and fish tacos). Oh, and let me add other then one large table which arrived AFTER us, it was relatively empty so it wasn't so busy that that was a factor. Sadly, we do NOT recommend. read more

Unfortunately, I had to go with a one star. I am a huge fan of plan b so when I heard it was coming to Hartford and close to where I work I was thrilled. I went there last night after a Christmas holiday party at around 630. As I walked into the bar there was about 5-6 booths open. Every single booth still had there trash on it, old food and drink. We walked down to get away from the door to the last two booths. As I turned around to ask the bartender if someone could clear off the tables, the bartender was leaned up against the bar texting on his phone (which he was on pretty much the entire night. At one point I went to the bathroom and he was in a booth texting no where near the bar). After about 10 minutes someone came to clear the table. As he was clearing he said I would be right back. 20 minutes later he returned to take our drink order. We contemplated 2-3 times to go down the street to another restaurant. After that 20 minute wait he returned, took our drink order and from that point on everything was slow. I understand that places are understaffed but this place at 7 pm was DEAD. Couldn't find the server, bartender on his phone texting. Even the manager walked by at one point as the bartender was texting on his phone clear as day and just kept walking by. Previous to going here 3 other people told me the service was terrible but I am such a Plan B fan I didn't want to believe it and brought a group of 8 co workers in. Welp, they were right. We had two rounds, paid the bill and went to another place for better service. read more

Super disappointing experience. We should have known something was off when we watched two different parties enter the building and then leave shortly after. We walked inside and were greeted by a huge mess at the hostess stand. We waited 5 minutes and there was not an employee in sight. We opted to seat ourselves at the bar when we noticed most people had nothing in front of them, just watching tv which a guest had turned on by going behind the bar and searching for the remote himself. The restaurant had absolutely no management or staff in sight for the 20 minutes we were there. It was insane! The few people who did have a drink said they hadn't seen any staff in a while and they think there is only ONE PERSON running the entire front and back of house. We decided to leave at that point because we were starving and clearly we weren't being served any time soon. When we got up and left several other parties left as well. I work right down the street at Travelers. I used to go to Ted's all the time and it was amazing. Since Plan B took over, I have been around 5 times with coworkers for lunch, happy hour etc. Every time has been a disappointment. The menu was handed to us and was so sticky, I had to go wash my hands after touching it. So gross! Today, I went w/ my coworker and her 2 year old son. We ordered mac and cheese for him - it never came. they came out w/ apple slices and finally brought out the mac and cheese for him an hour and a half later (when we were leaving) so had it boxed to go! My coworker ordered a drink. It had big black things floating all inside of it - so returned that. The French fries were not cooked all the way and I did not take my leftovers home with me, because the food was cold and just not good. I needed a knife and it took around 15 min. to get that. I was on my lunch break and told the server this (although, def. not his fault - more the kitchen, I was late coming back to work). Such a nice atmosphere inside, but everything else is pretty much disgusting. I will not return and unfortunately, will fill in my coworkers as this is not an establishment we would want to visit for lunch or happy hour. There are not a lot of good places on Front Street to go to for lunch/HH so we were so hopeful about Plan B coming in. I always give places a second chance to redeem themselves. In this case, I gave 5 - and it actually keeps getting worse. So disappointed. read more

It's unfortunate because this place has a lot of potential. Their food and drink and the vibe in there is pretty good but the service will keep people away. I have tried a table and the bar and both were absolutely awful service. I can understand when someone is busy being in the industry myself but it is offensive when someone is waiting that long for a drink and you continue to casually walk slow around them, virtually ignoring them. Yesterday my experience at the bar was so terrible that we left and went somewhere else. The bartender ignored us and proceeded to take everyone else's orders and the service drinks were made before we were a thought. The manager comes out to help him make drinks and still we're left with nothing. The worst part is it clearly took forever and no apologies, no trying to make up for it whatsoever.
