My initial thoughts: Great atmosphere, good service, OK burgers. My wife and I were looking for the best burger in Connecticut on our way back to Boston with some time to kill, so we took a detour to Plan B since it was top rated. The restaurant itself was stunning with its decor, modern music playing, and unique menu and options. From start to finish our visit was over 75 minutes, and we didn't go crazy: a few cocktails, 1 appetizer, and 2 burgers. There was one waitress and a bartender when we arrived, with about 4 other tables having patrons. Certainly was puzzled at the speed of service. For beverages I ordered a beer and my wife got the gimlit (vodka, like & simple syrup) along with the fried pickles, which we both agreed we're probably our favorites to date with such light breading and chip like texture, feeling like they were baked or air fried. It was puzzling that we had to ask for ranch because everywhere else we'd ever gone it was an accompanyment. When the burgers came out, the El Diablo on a pretzel bun with coleslaw for me and the 3 Shrooms on pretzel bun and truffle Parmesan fries for my wife, this is where our experience started to go South. First, the brought a plate of the fish tacos that we didn't even order. Second, they only brought my wife Parmesan fries, not truffle Parmesan tots that she requested. Given we are already 45 minutes into our visit, we stuck with them. Third, and the main sticking point and reason we came: the burgers. The pretzel buns were kinda chewy with crisp parts on the edges. And the burger patties: bland and unexciting. Being from the Midwest with our smash burgers and Lucy's perhaps I'm spoiled, but a giant 1/2 lb patty with lots of decoration with a plain slab of hamburger meat really disappointed us. My wife barely ate half hers (and getting a burger was her idea) and I left some as well - both uncharacteristic of us. Fourth, the slaw had NO flavor, and being a BIG slaw fan I was pretty disheartened. At the end of the meal getting the check, dealing with having the fish tacos we didn't order removed, and then paying was a 10+ minute process. Our waitress was friendly and courteous, don't get me wrong, but it felt they could have used more staff to help. Being one of the top burger places in Connecticut, and award winning at that, some 15 years ago, I'd challenge Plan B to step outside of the box and try to reinvent themselves to take their burgers to the next level, because while the restaurant itself is unique, at the heart of their 3 B's the main one fell flat for us.

I was only getting a quick bite on a ride. I ordered the appetizer mini cheeseburgers with Parmesan fries to go. First we'll start with walking in. It's actually pretty chill and cute in there. No one was around, then A girl came over I said I was picking up she passed me a bag and left just as fast and went to the back. I stood for a few minutes because I didn't pay! And more people came in, finally another different girl came over and seated them over me even though I had been standing there in front. I finally spoke up saying I am good to go but I'd assume they'd like payment? I didn't want to just leave with free food here since they didn't even ask. Next, the food. The burgers were really juicy and fall apart, BUT there was no flavor! It felt like I was eating a bread mixture. I was sad about that. Then, I noticed I didn't get Parmesan fries, but plain barely cooked fries. It was overall a let down for the price of just an appetizer as well being almost $20. I would maybe try them again and get a whole meal or a different location.

On this rainy muggy evening this gem of a restaurant was a delight. Our waitress was in believable- she hustled constantly, watched and had others watch out for a very young walker, picked up other servers drops and cleaned the end of evening tables. Our food was great as well. My husband's Buffalo wings were huge and looked more like a meal than an appetizer. My build your own burger was great but I did choose the wrong bun with a potato bun . It was delicious but the bottom was too soggy to lift up so I had to eat my burger deconstructed which worked out surprisingly well. In fact it gave me the idea to eat it in the lettuce almost like a wrap and I saved the carbs for the delicious sweet potato fries! The dessert was great but I really was too full to enjoy all of the chocolate layers.

My mom and I tried this spot out for lunch and WOW, so much better than the location in Simsbury. After having several terrible orders in a row in Simsbury over the last year or so (burned food, cold food, poor service), what an awesome time here in West Hartford! Felt good to "be back" for an amazing meal. The burgers came out quick, our server was attentive and helpful, the place felt clean (Simsbury has a weird smell, like a dirty bar). Most importantly the food was incredibly delicious and cooked to perfection. This was the burger I have been missing!! It was honestly 10-15 mins out of our way to go to this location, but so so glad we did. Can't wait to be back here soon.

First visit will probably be my last unfortunately. No parking lot, had to park on the street, which isn't bad if you can find a spot nearby but it's also time limited. I was there on a Friday around 5pm. There were about 6 other patrons in the bar area. I sat at a table with a friend and we waited longer than expected to be greeted by a waitress. Food also took awhile to come out and while it tasted good, my bunless turkey burger looked like someone had taken a bite out of it in the kitchen. Our waitress did not check on us, we had to waive her over. At one point I saw her drinking beer at the bar , which was disappointing. If she had time to drink on the job and socialize with her coworkers, she should find the time to refill my water. Just overall disappointed for the reputation that Plan B has. I wasn't impressed.

Popped in on a late Friday afternoon for a beer and Nachovember- seemed a little short staffed but we are used to that coming out of Covid -patience. The nachos were great- not sure if they made a mistake but the serving size was huge. Something makes the bottom of the nachos watery - maybe tomatoes? Not certain Thought the draft beer list could be improved- too many IPAs but we'll be back

Came here for some drinks & appetizers, unintentionally left with so much fun. I thoroughly enjoyed everything this place had to offer. From their live talented DJ, open karaoke, and peppy fun-loving crowd (we swayed our hands for local crooners singing various songs from Lion King's "can't wait to be king" to Ciara's "1-2 step" to some Latin songs). To the casual but still classy vibe of the bar, the intimate lights... our attentive, chill, friendly server (named Carlos)! Recommend the B-Berry cocktail! The plate portions are also good enough for two!

9 years later, Plan B is still a solid spot! Their beer selection is always top notch along with their food. Its cool that they offer a variety of bun options and a little bit of something for everyone on their menu.

My lovely wife and I went to Plan B early evening last week. We were sat promptly, and offered drinks in a reasonable time. After a few sips, we ordered different burgers, and I started with a half order of wings...which was more than plenty for one person. I'm a heat freak, so I ordered the "Insane" flavor. Knowing that most restaurants tone their flame down a bit, I was still pleasantly surprised at the unexpected flash of heat offered. The wings were also huge, tender, and perfectly cooked...easily the best I've had in months, and that includes from a place in Southington known for theirs. The burger was hot, fresh, and cooked as ordered, though I need to say it kinda fell apart as I was eating it. Fries were proudly served in what can only be described as a huge Melita filter! any vestige of grease was captured by the paper, leaving only deliciousness behind. Just as we were leaving we heard a band warming up. Next time we'll remember that!

We're big fans of Plan B (primarily the Glastonbury location) so I was so excited to finally try their OG West Hartford location. We called ahead and the process was really easy. We ordered two of the mini cheeseburgers. When we arrived, they had specified parking spots for takeout, which was great because we didn't have to search for parking. We arrived around 6:03 and asked for our order to be ready at 6PM. Our food was ready to grab & pay when we arrived. Easy Peasy. Now for the best part - the food. We've never had the mini cheeseburgers before, so I was excited to try them. They were AMAZING! Just as juicy as everyone has said. They were the perfect size to eat on-the-go and incredibly filling. We were already big fans of the Parm fries, so I was psyched to see they automatically come with those! Their fries are perfect and people do not rave about them enough!! I loved the atmosphere at this location as well. The outdoor patio looked nice and the indoors was similar to other locations. Next time we're definitely eating there!

Plan B??? It should be your plan A for burgers.. I came for a Yelp Elite event, we hot 3 sliders with parm fries. I ended up with take out order, I had my ferret and had to go travel to PA for my event tour. Friendly staff on the phone when I placed the order. I took one bite and knew it was one of the better burgers I have had from restaurant in a long time. Its perfectly cooked, seasoned, was plump and juicy. The fries were cooked and seasoned the way I like them. I def will come back to try the full menu.

I was craving burgers and I couldn't think of any other place other then Plan B.I never been to the West Hartford location so we went to check it out.My daughter got boneless chicken wings with bbq and buffalo sauce on the side,my son ordered buffalo tenders , I ordered the blue cheese burger with fries and salad and my husband had a chicken sandwich. For drinks we decided on The Prickly Pear Margarita,Alvarium beer and lemonade for the kids. Everything was good except the ambiance I thought was very cold and a little too casual. We liked all the other locations and I guess I was expecting the same vibe.Service was just okay for me.

Plan B has long been in the very top tier of CT burger places and it's 3 Shrooms Burger has been my personal favorite CT burger for about as long as Plan B has been open. I'm closer to the Glastonbury Plan B, but it's great to be back in the Original. Mini Cheeseburgers. The phrase conjures images of those little White Castle Hamburgers that are about the size of a Little Debbie Zebra Cake. Plan B's "Mini Cheeseburgers" are the Basketball Power Forward of the Mini Cheeseburger World. The Heavy Weight Champ. The Starting Left Tackle. The Muscular Cleanup Hitter of the Mini Cheeseburger World. I've got to warn you about one thing - you'll need to lean over your plate. I've never had a "juicy" mini cheeseburger before, but this one oozed peppery juice. It was great for the taste buds and a risk for the clothes. The mini cheeseburgers were terrific. Great bun and a tasty, meaty, well-cooked and well-seasoned burger with melted cheese. I don't usually "do" sliders or mini cheeseburgers, but I would order these again. Plan B's fries are fantastic. They're about one setting up from shoe string fries and I like them thin like this. Crispy out. Tender in. And the grated parm is delicious. I've always liked the atmosphere of this Plan B. Cool inside. Great bar. Nice art. They have outdoor seating with umbrella tables. 5 Stars for the WeHa Plan B.

Ask the Community - Plan B - West Hartford

Does anyone know if Plan B is open for takeout during the pandemic? When I call on the phone I can't get through.

They are not open at this time. They chose to close completely on March 16th for the safety of their staff and the community per the email I received from them.

Service is great, very attentive and friendly. The food is what earns this three stars. I tried a stuffie, German onion soup, a Farmhouse burger, and a key lime Mason jar. The stuffie was a little small, and most of the flavor was imparted by the ham and the squeeze of lemon. The German onion soup, I'm not sure why it was German except to not be French? Outside the name difference, the onions were way too large, and there was a total lack of flavor going on in the soup. The crock was very large too. The burger and fries looked pretty good, and I enjoyed the flavors here. The fries were rough hewn, so there was good crispness from all the edges. The toppings of the burger, and the bun, were also hearty. Unfortunately, my medium rare burger was more like raw meat with surface browning. I'm a big fan of rare steak, but ground beef needs a little more cooking. Also, the house made ketchup is really more of a marinara sauce. If I'd ended up eating more of my plate before they took it away to re-fire the burger, I would have asked to replace the ketchup. The key lime Mason jar was e everything you want to wrap up a meal. Great flavor, lightness, citrus. I did have to bring most of it home but, unlike the burger they brought back in a box, I'm excited to get back into the key lime. From an accessibility stand point, there is no ramp to get in nor handicap parking, so the evidently don't want your business. Once you're in, there are some seats you could get in, but if this place were full it would be difficult to navigate for anyone. The bathroom is a single room, but very spacious and nice. So, mixed bag for access. Your mileage may vary, but I'm not racing to return.
