And when the charge finally came through my bank two days later, I was charged $77!!!!!! Yes, (a) I should have looked more carefully and yes, (b) I should have asked for a receipt. My first visit to this restaurant was August 29, 2025. I went in the late afternoon and early evening because there was live music by a group called string fever. The scenery around Placitas is breathtaking. There is reasonable signage and plenty of parking. For an event with live music, they offered a limited menu and I had pulled pork sliders with a side of potato chips and a Coke. The pulled pork was tender and had a nice mild sauce. This is her husband and wife operation with therefore limited staff, but they are very friendly and accommodating. Decor is casual and also very interesting. Prices are excellent. Food is always great, service can be a bit slow during their peak times, more time for conversation. Ambience is a quaint restaurant in a L shaped mall of a few other business's. The food is hit or miss, and the service is the same. If the owner waits on you he will most likely make some wise crack that you won't understand or care to hear. The restaurant hours are hard to understand unless you're a regular. Their web listings have hours all over the place. It's easier and just better to drive back into Bernalillo and eat at Applebees. The food is very good with a few veggie options for vegans and vegetarians. The coffee is a good way to start the day! A relaxed and casual café with music on Friday nights too. A nice neighborly café to meet up and relax. Service is slow but worth the wait. read more

As always, the food is excellent! I loved my creamed spinach omelet. Omelets are naturally heavier, but this one didn't seem too heavy! The server was very kind and helpful as well! I wish there were more places like this in Albuquerque, my experience here was so good! When you first walk in, it definitely gives off old cafe vibes. Lots of older decorations but everything came together so well. We started with the chips and salsa which were homemade and absolutely fire. I had the beef burrito with a scrambled egg added and green chili and this was one of the best burritos I have had in a while! The rest of my party also enjoyed their meals so much they couldn't stop talking about how good the food was. I will definitely be coming back here more often. If you are in the Placitas, Bernalillo area or passing through on the highway definitely recommend trying this little cafe out! read more

This is a case of following the crowd. A cold motorcycle ride brought us here. This is a relatively small place in Placitas. A quick look at the menu and I zeroed in on the Patty Melt, with a cup of Lentil Soup. The patty melt was cooked medium rare, with sautéed red onions and 2 types of cheese. The bread was not over toasted. A much different flavor. The lentil soup came loaded with beans, ham, carrots & spinach. It had great flavor. But, I was disappointed it was served lukewarm. Nice restaurant, which I would assume, is the heart of Placitas. There is humor in the menu, just as with the owner. I couldn't pick what to order, so I started with biscuits and gravy, add green chile. I'll have to return to try more. Self serve coffee. What a fantastic find in Placitas NM. Looks small on the outside, but is quite spacious on the inside. The decor was welcoming with a lot of local art and jewelry. Service, by Savanah, was very pleasant and attentive. The food was good. A place to visit again and again. read more

Amazing food , green chili cheese burger great, big & taste, green chili chicken stew with beans delicious and good portion of chicken green chili hot but definitely one of my favorite, great patty melt, breakfast are really good my husband loves the breakfast burrito and the Buffalo burger, French toast, the dinners are really good too and the lemon poppy cake won't disappoint. Ah the Rays Huevos (say that fast three times :)). Were delicious. We had struck out at a couple of other restaurants on this trip so it was a delight to stop here and find the New Mexico food we had been missing. The green and red Chile, ah so tasty I wanted to lick my plate. Hubby got the biscuits and gravy. Again delicious. The gravy was actual sausage gravy... not the gravy where sausage was add as an after thought Also they sell art (photos, paintins, jewelry and I spotted a couple of fountain pens...which make great graduation or retirement gives. Handmade with jeweled inlay, one turquoise with dark wood was extremely fetching. It is not far from I25, look for a small shopping center on the north side of the road. I was really excited to have found one of those little gems of local flavor when this brunch option surfaced on yelp during a soccer tourney in Bernalillo. Few but great reviews, good-looking food pics, surely a best kept secret for down-home diner'ing. We entered the cafe, wide-eyed and giddy. The place was bedecked with an endless array of kookiness and fun (Even a few inconspicuously posted curse words!). We were told by regulars who noticed our lingering by the door that we could seat ourselves, and we meandered thru the place, which continued opening up to more seating. It was 1:00ish on a Sunday afternoon and the place had plenty of spots to pick from. Our waitress was no-nonsense and no-frills, a straightforward sorta gal who looks at you humorlessly in such a way that you really don't know if she wants you here or not. The older fellow who made some rounds, including delivery of food, was more amiable, looking for a giggle at his jokes. I think he might've been the jefe. I had the Sunday Benedict special that is apparently quite popular. The kids had biscuits n gravy, and enchiladas. I was so excited to dig in! Perhaps that expectation set an unfairly high bar, because It was only OK. I'm stoked they had sausageless gravy. We love some biskits n gray-gray round here. But it just wasn't fab like I thought it was gonna be. Though the enchiladas had flavorful cheese, they were very simply outfitted--two taco-sized stacked corn tortillas covered with melted cheese. Granted, the kid passes on the chile, which would probably have improved them, but I found myself struggling to explain the difference between an enchilada and a quesadilla here. Lackluster. As for the Benedict, again, only OK, though I may have rarely had such a perfectly poached egg. Beans were OK. Papitas were OK. The ice water was OK. Get what I'm saying? If the plates had been $7-8 I would've skipped to my car, smiling and pleased. However, the three set me back $30 and I shuffled out the door with a shrug. I just expected more mmmmmm and less mmmmmeh. Still, a diverse menu, efficient service, with the exception of a lengthy delay on the final check-in and bill drop (apparently you're just supposed to go up to the register without a ticket? I never even saw it!). Fun environment and a perfectly solid alternative to IHOP a few miles down the road. I might go back during the next random occasion in Bernalillo. But I'll probably try that big ol Bosque Brewery instead. read more

We arrived at 12:25am and the white male staff member locked the door in our face with without saying anything. A customer let us in and we stood at the counter- the staff walked past us and spat out the word we're closed. He chose to be terribly rude instead of kindly telling is they had to stop serving early. I'm will NEVER go there again. This was our first time here. We walked in to be greeted by a very friendly gentleman who placed us at a great little table by the window. Looking at the Sandias from my seat. I had breakfast after a hour long shirt hike in the aforementioned mountain. My husband went for enchiladas. We were both pleasantly surprised by presentation and quality in this cute little cafe, a central meeting place for Placitas folks. The coffee was exceptional - I had Colombian. I asked the waiter what buttermilk pie was and he said I'll bring you one on the house! It was sweet and flavorful. I tried to support our local businesses during this pandemic. I stopped in here about 2 months ago. What a mistake. I parked in their parking lot and attempted to call in my order. I called repeatedly for at least 15 minutes. No answer. I then yelled over to one of their workers, who first responded maybe I should drove away. I almost did but the guy probably realized his smart ass remark wasn't so smart. He took my order then brought it out. When I got home in Placitas I opened up the food, the medium cheese pizza was completely burned. Not cinched, but completely burned. How does anyone burn up a medium pizza. NEVER going there again!!!!! Maybe they consider it ambiance, but the smart ass remarks are NOT. They guy should go get another line of work. read more

Well, if I could give ZERO stars, I would. We went there for lunch today, but left after being ignored. We stood inside the doorway for 5 minutes waiting to be directed where to sit. Two men and a woman who worked there walked past us several times, ignoring us. Finally a woman guest seated at a table, said, just seat yourself. We found a table in the larger middle room, and sat there, and sat there. There was an older, thin male waiter working a large table of maybe 16 guests. He turned and said someone would be with us shortly. Well, 10 minutes later , a waitress came over dumped the menus on the table, said that she was having a bad day, and asked us what we wanted to drink. We asked for 2 iced teas and two waters. Fifteen minutes later, no sign of the waitress or our beverages, so we packed up and left. She walked past us as we were leaving, still no drinks in her hand, and no comment.
