With the discount, our group got three races for $100/pp and $5/pp for helmets. Everyone was very nice and helpful. There are stands where you can sit and cheer on others. I recommend purchasing 2-3 races when you come. The first one is where you get used to the karts and track, the second and third one is where you'll truly get the hang of it and enjoy yourself. I was tired by the second round, but had a lot of fun! We will definitely be back. There are also tables and seats for you to rest at. The bathroom is a bit dirty as they are in a state park so I recommend to bring wipes. There was also a $5 charge to enter the state park per vehicle.

The store is run by a dad and his son, and it came to fruition as their hobby. Both the father and the son are super passionate about racing and simulation racing, and it clearly shows in the heartwarming enthusiasm and dedication they show to making sure you have an enjoyable experience. The price is great too! $20 for 20 mins on the formula 1 racing car and the 60"screen car. The price drops to $15 for 20 mins for the two smaller sim cars! We were in line behind a group of racers from Sonoma, and the father happily explained that the racers were frequent customers, and that they actually race on the racetrack they were simulation racing on in real life. Once it was my boyfriends turn, they strapped him in and explained that the simulation racing had full motion and impact. Halfway through my boyfriend's turn, the father/son duo noticed that the motor wasn't adjusting properly and paused the game so that they could fix it. They even ended up letting my boyfriend finish a few extra laps! They could have easily not told us, and we wouldn't have noticed, but it really illustrates how kind and honest they are, and that this really is their passion! My boyfriend enjoyed it so much, and cannot stop talking about it. We will definitely be back, and he's hoping to place in the top20 for the timeattack next time!

The owner is a friend, but keep reading to find out why. The owner of Karting Concepts is very passionate about kart racing and his local club tracks in Davis ( BlueMax Kart Club ) and Folsom ( Prairie City SVRA - All Star Karting ). I've known him since 2013 in which he started a business relationship with the company that I work for. I'm used to getting sales pitches and other non-creative marketing tossed my direction from the racing circles, but Patrick was different. He urged me to come back out to the local track, Blue Max Kart Club and to try club racing again, with a Briggs and Stratton 206 powered kart. At first I had no interest because, "I'm a shifter guy!!!". I've been around karting since 1995, and my smiles come from driving a shifter kart, so a lawn mower engine package had no appeal to me. Patrick kept working on me to come out and give it a try. After about a year, I finally headed out to BlueMax for a club race and the class I entered had about 30 kart on the track. This shifter guy had a huge smile on his face, not because the karts are super fast like a shifter, but because the racing was intense and close. After I got out, I became an ambassador for the Briggs LO206 platform because it was a great start up package for all kart racers. I enjoyed a large field, close racing, and once I bought my own equipment, relatively affordable (by motorsports standards) cost to hit the track. Now over the years, Patrick and I have become friends. He has a real passion for the sport of karting, as do I. He is honest with people and he puts others first. If the world had more people with his temperament and personality, it would be a much better place. He has participated at all levels in the karting business. He had offered rental programs do introduce new people to the sport. He runs a side business to retail karts and parts. He has traveled to big national karting events to support customers. He has spent countless hours building the local kart club and growing membership numbers. Do I need to go on?

It started…read morewith long, rambling emails from the organizer that jumbled all of the weekend's events into a single bulleted list. (The website/social media pages were equally chaotic: broken/missing links, inconsistent info, and partial course maps abound.) This was charming at first, but became super frustrating as the weekend imploded and accurate info was harder to come by. I figured this just meant the organizer isn't big on tech, but then he failed to get his permits submitted on time for two of the weekend's three marathons. That's kind of your ONE JOB as a race organizer. Instead of taking responsibility, he railed Caltrans for not honoring the race path he'd used for the last 28 years (again: his responsibility, not theirs). Saturday's race was cancelled entirely (with email glitches preventing participants from learning about this until 11:45 on Friday) and Sunday's was rerouted as a series of out-and-backs on SLT's less scenic public sidewalks, neighborhoods, and bikeways. To make matters worse, there were no bathrooms on the course (just a few at the start line to be shared by all participants), no proper race fuel at the aid stations (the volunteers were fantastic, though; I don't blame them!), and a couple of fee-only refreshments at the finish line (spare a bowl of pretzels and a booth with sugar-free NA beer from a sponor). I suspect the quality of the race has decreased over time. If this year was a fluke, then I'd love for the organizer to take ownership of that and make amends for those of us who spent a ton of resources for what turned out to a pretty crummy race experience.
