This park is in downtown Placerville, CA. It's one of the prettiest neighborhood parks that I've…read moreever seen. Gorgeous aspen (or pine, one of those) trees surround the park. In its four acres is a lighted little league baseball field (home to the Hangtown League) complete with an electronic scoreboard and snack shack, play ground, picnic tables with bbq pits, and restrooms. The park is on Clark Street which is a narrow neighborhood gravel road. Drive cautiously because the street turns into hybrid part parking lot and street. On game days, the parking lot fills up quickly. When that happens, parking on Clark Street is scarce and the best bet is to park on Pacific Street and hike in. There are some handicapped parking spots located at the far end of the parking lot behind the little snack shack. From that end, there is a walking ramp that leads to all areas of the park including the walking path around the back field. So if you have folks in your group that would benefit from using the ADA ramps, it's best to unload from back there. Besides that access point, there are stairs, with hand rails, in the front parking lot. The parking lot has only one entrance and exit point. A big shout out to the Placerville Rotary Club for creating this park and helping to maintain it. Great community partnership.

The courts are locked though. City residents can purchase a key from the City's Parks and Recreation Office to access the courts. The park was extremely clean and well maintained. On my weekend visit, I was surprised to see a groundskeeper working on a weekend afternoon. He was no slacker. No wonder this place was so neat and tidy.

Located in Placerville, California, visitors are able to explore a real gold mine for a fee. The property itself has a few picnic areas and hiking trails- if you're into that kinda thing. This spot is open daily from 10am to 4pm. Our visit ended up being towards the tail end of the operating hours but we were able to squeeze in for the last mine tour. This tour is 100% self guided and you are allow to go at your own pace in exploring. There is an audio headset provided- again, TY Joe for taking the reins in providing all of the fun facts. Everyone taking part in the tour will need to be fitted with a hard hat and wearing them is absolutely mandatory in ensuring everyone's safety. The cost will set you back 12 bucks for adults, seniors are 10 bucks, and children are 6 bucks a pop. Children 5 and under are free. The tour really wasn't necessary IMO. We could have skipped this altogether given the fact that the tour was so darn short. You literally walk straight through and then turn around to exit once you hit the dead end. It's really over before you even start. The highlight of our visit was gem panning. At $5 a person, the kiddos had the most amazing time rummaging through the murky waters in hopes of finding something amazing. We even managed to find a few bits of fools gold. 4 Stars overall. Our visit was rushed due to our late arrival time but the kids really enjoyed themselves.

We hiked Horsetail Falls Trail, and I can't even explain how magnificent this place is. It is a 4 mile hike surrounded by mini waterfalls and rock formation throughout the hike. Your reward is getting underneath the main waterfall at the top of the hike. You will do a lot of rock climbing the further you hike, and it gets really steep. There are absolutely breathtaking views at the top. I love it! I recommend this hike to everyone. My tip for this hike is to bring lots of water because you will need it. Come early to snag a parking spot because it fills up fast and there is a $10 fee for parking. ENJOY!

There are over 400 hiking trails that pass through various terrains ranging in technical difficulty. The terrain ranges from meadow, oak foothills, to the 10,000 foot Sierra Nevada. Some hiking trails require reservations for day use permits. There are also campgrounds. Some areas, such as the areas affected by the recent fires, are off limits. For up to date information, It is advised to check out the fs.usda.gov website. The area is beautiful. Gorgeous alpine backcountry. Old growth forest. Pristine streams. There are access roads that will drive into the area. But most of the access roads are ruff, not paved, and could be hard to maneuver without a SUV.

The parking lot is a pretty decent size and so we were still able to get parking. There are two parks, one on each side of the parking lot. Each side has shade coverings which was great. It was about 80 degrees when we were there and the shade allowed us to enjoy being outside. On one side there is a climbing structure and slide. On the water side there was a more advanced climbing structure, swings and a smaller climbing area with the swings. All in all, we definitely enjoyed the park and all it had to offer. It was very clean as well.

There are restrooms, nice grassy area to sit out on with a couple of trees for a bit a shade, and a large covered picnic area that you can rent out for parties/gatherings.

We arrived and quickly found a spot that we liked. Camp Host Dave came up and greeted us and helped up check in right at the site which was nice. He was very nice and said he had been at this location just this year. Our car battery was dead and he kindly helped us with a jump. 2. Sites along the lower loop near the water are LARGE and pretty private. Our site (Number 73) was in close proximity to the bathrooms and water spigot and had a private trail to the beach/lake. Site 84 is nice too with a beach view and easy water access. We will probably stay there next time. 3. The lake was great for swimming. Clean, clear water that was not cold. Our entire family (including our dog) swam for hours. Bring a tube to float on! 4. This campground is QUIET. I know it depends on the groups camping but it was very very quiet every night at 8pm. My husband and I felt bad quietly playing our country music because it was that quiet. 5. Bears will come through here. We were sitting by the fire at 11:30 and I saw a giant moving black blob with glowing eyes and we turned our flashlight on and yep.. Bear. Throw your trash away and put your food in your cars! 6. My ONLY gripe was that this campground seems to have a Yellowjacket problem. There were lots everywhere. With that being said, we were there two nights and none of us got stung. Maybe bring a few Yellowjacket traps to hang on the trees around camp. 7. No showers but they are a quick drive up the road at Fashoda. The closest store is Ice House Resort which is about 15 minutes away. We will be back!

Camp host didn't interact with us, just did his job and verified that we paid for our campsite. The campsite was very nice and clean, we were at a perfect distance to walk with our kayaks to the lake. The only bad thing were the bathrooms...they are SMELLY. There's definitely better bathrooms out there but these will do lol. Definitely coming back!!
