I'm torn on this one because well they have a lot going on. I really don't feel like there's a ton of value to be had here unless you hit it on a day where there is a special discount. Four stars is generous given the value proposition here. The games and attractions are on the pricey side, the games don't pay out well, and you end up dropping a good amount of money to leave with a less than awesome item from the redemption store. As far as the space itself, it's super rad. Big, clean, lots to see and do, but again, a small fortune to experience it. We were staying on property and discovered Apex and it made our little arcade going hearts happy even as adults. We love seeing the array of new coin, pushers, and skill base arcade games available, along with the claw machines that had a lot of cool licensed fun inside. We also enjoyed watching people do the VR, but it looked a little too crazy for us. The screens run a series of promotions and we landed there on a game day, which meant five dollar margaritas at the bar and that was well worth it however it was a little bit challenging to get them because the staff was confused as to whether or not it was on, and the sign clearly said any Weekdays where there are games they offer it and it didn't have any other stipulations so I was happy when the bartender eventually honored it. The drink itself was solid. Not too sweet not too sour and it tasted like they use a decent tequila. The arcade games looked good but they did not pay out tickets very well. For 100 bucks we had about 2200 tickets which seems very low considering how much we put through these coin pushers, the number of towers we knocked over and the bonuses we saw that we won. The tickets go very far in the redemption store and frankly, we probably should've had a lot more and I don't understand why it was such a low number. Staff was quick to help with any issues and they were helpful in guiding us into the different options that we had. The space is huge inviting and has a lot to offer with the VR and go karts attached plus the golf simulators, full bar and restaurant food available make this a great stuff if you're on property or just passing through.

We went here to see what all the talk was about. I see the signs advertised by the side of freeway all the time. It didn't quite live up to the hype. Everything is pricey, which is expected of a casino. It was $35 for one race per person (unless you had a group and did a group rate). The claw machines used too many tokens compared to the other games. The go-cart racing is three stories tall! You are given a helmet to use when racing. The go carts were not the most user friendly. You really had to put force into making turns with your arms. This is not meant for anyone with a knee injury or limited mobility. The arcade was small but they did have my favorite arcade game there - break the plate. A few of their games weren't working when we visited. The arcade on a different floor (that's more kid friendly) has a better game selection. My favorite part of the apex was the bowling alley. They have a cool lounging area in the front. The bowling balls are designed like pool table balls. They have cubbies at each lane for shoes and bags. The cubbies even have outlets to charge phones! The bowling games have different set ups. There's the standard bowling game and other options. One was points based on how many pins you hit, and everyone in your group gets one roll per turn. The food in the bowling area was good too. The pita bread was amazing! They had a nice selection of food items on their menu. Each bowling lane has an area for food and drinks. Overall it was a unique experience. The go-cart racing was a let down for me. The arcade was small but had some good games in the mix. Their bowling alley was a lot of fun and the main thing I would want to go back for.

WHY WE WENT HERE: - niece's 7th birthday party THE LOOK (FROM THE OUTSIDE): - located in the Red Hawk Casino - parking garage is free and we were situated nearby the elevator THE LOOK (FROM THE INSIDE): - elevator clearly indicates the button to push to access the floor that The Apex is located on - pleasantly surprised with The Apex! in a nutshell it made me think of Dave & Buster's + K1 speeding and add a food court and bowling alley, but make everything elevated EXPERIENCE/CUSTOMER SERVICE: - all the kids and some of the adults really enjoyed the bowling, go-kart racing, pizza party, and arcade bundle

My 10 year old loved this place! We always have a great time with the games, race cars and bowling! We come a couple times out of the year for our daughter to enjoy! It's a great place to celebrate birthdays and special occasions! Food is not too bad as well! What's great is the adults can have some fun not too far away! We highly recommend this place for kids and adults to enjoy!

This is definitely a hidden gem of El Dorado County. We've stopped in to see the Apex when we've been at the casino and it's always been SO busy. My son had a birthday party here a few months ago on a Saturday evening and it was (again) super busy and seemed almost chaotic. We were here today to celebrate our son graduating . Today is a Tuesday and we arrived around 4:00 - 4:30. The place was empty and we pretty much had the whole place to ourselves.... Until the evening crowd started to come in. Our family was the only ones on the karts which was amazing. We did an adult race and a junior race. Our youngest wasn't tall enough to ride yet. The karts are really fun. I would definitely say I'd need more than one race to get the hang of it. We had the cameras on our helmets and the video is awesome to watch. Bowling was really fun and it was our 4yr olds first time bowling. We ordered food and ate it while bowling. The fries were great and my son really liked the pepperoni pizza. I had the steak tacos, our oldest son had the birra flat bread and my husband had the wings. If you get drinks, there are no refills- but the attendant told us to take the cups and fill them up in the casino (someone 21+ of course) because then you get free refills. The virtual reality rollercoaster was a HIT for my family. I'm sure we will be back to ride every option that it has. My tips: wear closed toed shoes for the go karts, bring your own socks for bowling (so you don't have to buy some to go with the bowling shoes), also go on a weekday if you have a family and don't want to feel all the chaos of crowds. Videos and more reviews will be on my IG @ raising4harrisons

Hi-ya! Wow this place is really amazing. I guess in July they have sales going so the cart racing was $25/ per person instead of $35 and bowling was $5/ person + $5/ shoes. The kids had a lot of fun the, entire venue was top notch and prices during the time we went were so reasonable. We couldn't smell any smoke and the other patrons were polite were respectful. The place so clean, and lots of customer service reps and all friendly. The food was good too, except pizza was ok. The chicken strips were good loaded nachos so tasty.

    Large entertainment complex!

This is a great mix of adult to children entertainment interests. Large complex. It contains bowling and prix racing. Large bar, snack bar, seating area, movement rides, virtual golfing, video games and pool. I sat at the bar and I felt like I was at an ESPN studio with all the TV screens and twirling score stats.

I have now bowled at a casino! We were visiting my son and it was pouring rain. We needed an inside activity. We decided to go bowling and this is close to their house. I was concerned about the smell of smoke as we exited the elevator as my daughter in law is 8 months pregnant. The casino is to your left and Apex to your right. Once you enter Apex, the smell went away. Apex has go carts and a Vr ride?, arcade and restaurant and of course a bar. They may have more stuff. But we were there to bowl. You pay by the hour here, 40 bucks an hour. I gotta say had we been in the regular area it may have been too loud and 3 stars. But, we lucked out and got a lane in the vip room. We had the whole thing to ourselves for the first hour. We ordered food to the lane and really had a good time.

Bacon burger Pesto chicken wrap with the balsamic on the outside, making it sticky to hold
    Stephanie S.

This review is for the Apex Grill and Bar. I would rate it 3.5 stars. Pros - Bacon burger and fries were great. - We went on a Wednesday for Trivia night which was a lot of fun and enjoyed the $4 house wine. - Bar was spacious and had ample seating - I ordered food via the QR code on the table. Once my food was ready I was texted once and phoned multiple times which I appreciated because you are not supposed take your phone out during the trivia. The multiple, persistent calls forced me to check my phone and collect my order while the food was hot. Cons - Pesto chicken wrap was bland. Extremely poor execution with the balsamic on the outside. You couldn't eat the wrap without getting the sticky balsamic all over your hand. I would come back again but stick to ordering the burgers.

I really enjoyed this place! They have a wide range of fun things to do and it's connected to the casino. They have bowling, go kart racing, virtual golfing, video games and a virtual ride. The cafe has pizza, fries, burgers, etc. and must say the pizza wasn't bad at all. There's also a bar inside for those that appreciate adult beverages. I was there celebrating a birthday but this is a nice date night spot too!

At first I was confused why the wait time was so long when the space seemed almost empty, but we learned quickly that the more runs you do the better deal you get, and racing can be pricey. We opted for two rounds since we were new to it and didn't know how long it would take if we did more. Our first race took some time to be called for (about an hour), but we had much less downtime before our second one. While you wait there is an arcade area and a bar. One thing we noticed is that the staff in areas other than the racetrack are much less engaging- I think they must be bored from the lack of people interacting with them or working on things in other places. The bar was frequently unmanned and we learned that they don't offer tap water, only bottled. We also learned that while some packages come with food, if you don't time it correctly you may have to leave the food at the tables to head down to your race. It might be best to wait until after racing to order any food. While we didn't get food during the visit, we found it odd that a bunch of sliders and other food were just sitting around in the bar area unattended, getting cold. There's gotta be a better system. The team on the racetrack was engaged and nice. They made sure everyone was set up, strapped in, and that the races were organized and safe. I was TERRIBLE, but did get better my second round. Our group ended up having a lot of fun. Some things to note- they do put groups together and fill the extra spots with other racers so your group will be together but you may have different people in each heat (depending on how many rounds they bought and when they arrived). Riding with other groups means you may get bumped into and have people of VERY different skill levels. We definitely had some regulars in our group. When someone spins out or needs help all the karts stop so it can really interrupt the race, but I guess that's part of the experience. Overall it's a lot of fun but there's some room for improvement in their non-racing areas.

Despite my…read morerace record, I was constantly told I was being slow and should move over for even kids behind me, even if my race record did not say so. Being told I was slow, being stalled to start last in a group of racers. Yes I flipped the "traffic police," but I fight back when I'm being stereotyped because they need to know SHAME! The manager was no help and kept saying they were just following rules, when I was clearly being singled out. Not even an apology. Don't take your girls here. This is where little girls sportswomen spirits get destroyed. FYI it's also my birthday today. I left the place in tears. But the manager seemed to think that was funny. He unconditionally supported his biased staff and made comments about me being slow without even knowing what happened, let alone offering to review what happened (I'm sure there are camera). I told the manager he didn't know how being stereotyped feels because he is a white male, and he proudly said "that is a stereotype." Boohoo, I guess that stereotype really hurts compared to what non-white-male people have to go through! What a great manager working in the customer service industry. He refuses any responsibility, offers no sympathy to people's experience of being discriminated and whines about his own being stereotyped experience to a minority woman. (I hope he feels proud of doing that for the rest of his life.) This is just the dose of discrimination boost I needed on my birthday. Anyways, this is the birthday experience you will have here. What can I say, women are told to "move over" for men even at K1 speed to go karting. Great job reinforcing that rotten value when women/girls just want to have fun! They deserve to wear my eternal flip like a scarlet letter on their forehead! SHAME ON YOU K1 SPEED!

The owner is a friend, but keep reading to find out why. The owner of Karting Concepts is very passionate about kart racing and his local club tracks in Davis ( BlueMax Kart Club ) and Folsom ( Prairie City SVRA - All Star Karting ). I've known him since 2013 in which he started a business relationship with the company that I work for. I'm used to getting sales pitches and other non-creative marketing tossed my direction from the racing circles, but Patrick was different. He urged me to come back out to the local track, Blue Max Kart Club and to try club racing again, with a Briggs and Stratton 206 powered kart. At first I had no interest because, "I'm a shifter guy!!!". I've been around karting since 1995, and my smiles come from driving a shifter kart, so a lawn mower engine package had no appeal to me. Patrick kept working on me to come out and give it a try. After about a year, I finally headed out to BlueMax for a club race and the class I entered had about 30 kart on the track. This shifter guy had a huge smile on his face, not because the karts are super fast like a shifter, but because the racing was intense and close. After I got out, I became an ambassador for the Briggs LO206 platform because it was a great start up package for all kart racers. I enjoyed a large field, close racing, and once I bought my own equipment, relatively affordable (by motorsports standards) cost to hit the track. Now over the years, Patrick and I have become friends. He has a real passion for the sport of karting, as do I. He is honest with people and he puts others first. If the world had more people with his temperament and personality, it would be a much better place. He has participated at all levels in the karting business. He had offered rental programs do introduce new people to the sport. He runs a side business to retail karts and parts. He has traveled to big national karting events to support customers. He has spent countless hours building the local kart club and growing membership numbers. Do I need to go on?

me and my friends day at the waterpark started off fantastic when an amazing person named Owen…read moreSmith greeted us with his bright and heartwarming smile. He is an extraordinary worker and deserves the best. After are great start, we were having a blast on the splish and splash of the water slides. When these unsupervised kids ruined our fun. They cut in front of everyone in line for stealth so I confronted them. This lead to them following me and my friend around the entire water park. When me and my friend went on double dare trying to get them away from us they followed us up and were repeatedly yelling at us. They then told the life guard that we cut them and pushed them down the stairs. The life guard, Declan T, did nothing about them yelling and even let them cut in front of us even Though we so clearly made it up first. This is when our day started getting worse these kids followed us back to our spots invading our personal space and yelling at us. Even with many life guards around no one stopped them. Me and my friend eventually got so fed up with there act we went and told a supervisor after telling him the situation he did absolutely nothing.

I came here for a birthday party. The place was great overall. Some issues but nothing too major…read more Biggest issue was the party was supposed to be in a cabana that was paid for. But we ended up in just a big shaded area. The employees were all mostly kind. Which can be tough with so many young adulting working a water park on a hot day. Only came across two employees that seem to be having a rough day. The food was not as bad as some reviewers I read said it was. The pizza was passable. The crust was good. The French fries were average. Not bad at all. The chicken tenders were more breaded flakes and less chicken. The pretzel was my girlfriend's favorite, but the kids really liked the ice cream shakes. The water park was fun. A lot of rides in such a small area, but it was well maintained and organized. The lines were not bad at all and it's all so much fun. The go-karts were a bit disappointing. I felt like more cars could have been out at once. Overall. It was not a bad time at all and I would come back for a bday party or to bring kids out for a fun day out.
