The cocktail serves here uses fresh-squeezed fruit juice and House Made Syrups, bitters and grenadines! And I just love the cocktails we ordered which all prepared with cared and skills. For beer lovers, there are beers from Amsterdam, Beau's, Left Field and Kawartha Lakes available on tap. They can even give you a taster before you commit. For wine lovers, there are wine available in glass from local and around the World. The Beech Tree is definitely an excellent "restaurant" if you want to enjoy some well prepared food. The food here is all seasonal and locally sourced prepared from scratch, that includes the bread, pickled vegetables, sauces and the cured meat! Cauliflower and Stilton on toast ($5) Chicken liver parfait with poached pears and toasts ($11) A warm salad of smoked arctic char w/ celeriac croquette, quail egg, wild rice and cider vinaigrette ($12) Gnocchi with rosemary and parsnip ($16) Slow braised lamb hot pot with pickled vegetables ($13) The appetizers and mains I tried were all nicely presented with interesting combination of ingredients and flavors. The complimentary mini peanut butter chocolate torte was so rich and it was the perfect to end the evening! Highly recommend to give The Beech Tree if you are in the area! But remember to make a reservation as the restaurant is quite small and with limited seating!

The place is so cozy and nice lighting it was perfect for a catch up with my girlfriends. The prices are very reasonable and they often have good deals on bottles of wine. I had the French 75 and it was so so good. There was only one server/bartender the night we were there but he was incredibly attentive to all patrons and was super friendly and nice. At one point I spilled my drink and he immediately and graciously cleaned it up and gave me a replacement for free which is very kind. I very highly recommend for slightly more upscale-feeling drinks at reasonable prices.

The Experience Tulia Osteria is our go‑to for meaningful…read morecelebrations--even if it means a drive across Toronto. Nestled on Queen East, its warm, wood-fired vibe makes every visit special. The Favorites We kicked things off with their saffron‑kissed Arancini--bite‑sized spheres of rice and smoked mozzarella, godsends dipped into bright tomato-marinara and pesto. Next came the Pizzano pizza: a perfectly blistered crust layered with pepperoni, Calabrian chilies, fior di latte, hot honey drizzle, and aged Parmigiano--an addictive balance of sweet‑heat and savory richness. The pillowy Gnocchi arrived next--smothered in butternut squash purée, earthy wild mushrooms, hazelnuts, sage brown‑butter, and a final snow of Parmigiano. And the Fritto Misto was a crunchy delight: lightly breaded shrimp, calamari, scallops, all perked up with zesty lemon‑caper aioli. Setting the Tone We started with cocktails, which hit the right note--elegant, balanced, and a little unexpected. They added a celebratory lift that carried right into the meal. Service was smooth and welcoming, striking that hard-to-nail mix of polish and warmth.

We were there last week and I tried the lamb chop and the only complaint I have is that it was small. It was pretty and tasty, but for the price it was just one chop which was mostly bones. So I left the restaurant still feeling hungry. The salads are really good. And the two gentlemen running the place were crazy busy but still very attentive. Overall I think this is one of my favorite places in the neighbourhood.

As I commute from the Durham region on weekdays, Friday is the only day that opens later time (7:30), and I finally got the chance to try the food on a Friday afternoon! I bought - Olive loaf - Croissant (plain)] - Fig tart - Pear tart - Pâté en croute The olive loaf had a loooot of olives in it. It tastes great by itself, but I dipped it in good olive oil and balsamic. Great!!! The croissant was light, airy, and flaky. Nice butter flavor follows the bite. Fig tart and pear tart had a lot of fruits in them, not too sweet, which I appreciated. They do not cover the taste up with cream fillings and extract the ingredients' character and best texture/flavors/tastes. Also had a good buttery kick! Pate en croute has a lovely looking. The color of cranberries and pistachio makes it look festive & gorgeous. This savory food comes with slices of pickles which had a naturally sour, gentle flavor, which gave it a refreshing spike. They had a lot of wines as well, if you are a wine lover, you want to check this place out. They had beers as well for a beer lover like me :) Of course, I got a can of IPA from Merit brewery in Hamilton. I have never seen it before at any LCBO around here, excited! I hope to have a chance to visit here again sometime soon!

This must be the place!…read more Our first trip to Toronto and boy did we have fun. From delicious food to sipping wine, and everything in between, Toronto was a city to explore. Ladybug Wine Bar is a cute but also sophisticated wine bar located on King Street, steps away from shopping and restaurants. We stopped in here on a snowy Sunday before our flight home. They also serve Sunday Brunch. We grabbed a few open seats at the comfy bar. They do not offer wine flights, which made this experience pretty darn expensive but SOOOO worth it. We had such a fun time and the people working were so nice, we honeslty did not want to leave. They were willing to help with our selections. We actually ordered all their Reds by the glass. I know, but there were only about 6 and we had to try them all. I like to say "go big or go home" LOL! We loved almost all except for maybe a few. We ended up also ordering a charcuterie while we sip. And of course I brought a bottle home with me. If you are ever in Toronto, please check out Ladybug wine bar, it is fantastic, you won't want to leave. Cheers!

Golden Pigeon occupies the space where Ben Wicks used to be, which is below street level with stairs in the front. Inside it is fairly dark with various games situated on the left/south side of the venue, and when I walked around inside I noticed a shelf with board games at the wall on the north side. I wasn't planning on staying late so I only ordered one beer (Devil's Pale Ale from Great Lakes Brewery) but everyone else with me ordered food and beer including desserts; the food all looked and smelled quite nice to me and the consensus from my friends was that their choices were quite enjoyable. My beer was quite good too and their draft menu features a wide variety of quality beers on offer. The prices for both food and beer are pretty standard for the type of venue this is. Our service was fairly prompt and quite friendly; there were 2 skee ball games not too far from where we sat, one or both of which were frequently played by others while we were there. They were loud enough to make conversation a little more difficult so I took a star off of my rating for that. Being a German Beer Hall styled venue, I do understand that the overall 'ambiance' conveyed will be loud and somewhat boisterous. By the time I left around 9:30 pm it was somewhat more crowded inside while the patio had largely cleared. I quite enjoyed my first visit to Golden Pigeon and I hope to revisit before too long to have a different beer and maybe some food.
