This is a review of service only and not food. Food was overall enjoyable, tasty and well prepared although the brown bag pizza we took home we found to be in the pizza box upside side. The kids suggested dinner there on a rainy Friday evening and the place was busy. Seated quickly but either the the hostess just got yelled at or had no interest in being there. Every time a customer or fellow employee spoke to her or asked her a question as we waited to be seated, her eyes rolled more than the tires on our car. Not sure if they were short staffed or a customer frenzy. Waitress ("P") was competent but missed a couple of orders. Tortellini soup came out instead of tortellini pasta, pizza with chicken and sausage came out without chicken and later the chicken came out in a small bowl so we added it on top. Something must have happened because there was a noticeable attitude change as the evening wore on. At some point, the male at the table behind us lost his mind about something about his order and maybe that was the trigger that changed things. No water refills and no ask for our wine refills so even though there was a $200+ tab there was still some additional lost revenue on the table. Again, quality of the food coming out was good and the brown bag leftovers were enjoyed the next day including the upside down pizza so go to enjoy the food. As an Italian I can confidently say that the food here is delicious. The tossed salad pizza has A LOT of toppings on it which I really appreciate. It was so good we devoured it right away hence half a pizza in the picture. The hot antipasto is really good along with the eggplant parmigiana. The thin crust pizza's are the best thing they have. I recommend asking for the Buffalo Pizza as a thin crust. However, they advertise them "Made in an authentic brick oven" and if you watch them, they just use their regular run-of-the-mill pizza oven so that's a bit disappointing. Sorrento's still has them beat. read more

Pizzaiola is a neighborhood gem. It serves many varieties of pizza as well as has sit down service where you can enjoy everything from salads to pasta to diverse entrees. My favorite is the caesar salad as well as the eggplant parm., which is very thin and cooked with flour instead of bread crumbs. Every dish I have ever gotten there is delicious. It is always crowded. There might be a little line to wait on if being seated in the back. Worth the wait! read more

Came here with hubby and brother-in-law. I believe it's a chain the one we visited was in Oceanside. The bread was pretty good, standard Italian garlic bread slices but still good. Had the eggplant parm for my main meal. It was decent, not the most delicious eggplant parm I ever had but still edible and decent. wasn't really a memorable place for me but there's no complaints either. I used to work down the block at Massage Envy so stopping here for lunch happened quite frequently. Joe was always so warm and friendly and would recommend some of their newest items. My favorite was their chicken bacon ranch pizza. It had the perfect balance of cheese and ranch. They're always busy and and you get your food in a quick and efficient manner. I am convinced that the associates in here are racist. I had terrible service a few months ago. I ordered eggplant to go and was the only person in the store waiting. I waited about 30 minutes before I asked them what was going on and they said "oh here", took the food from the top of the oven and gave it to me with no apology. By the time I ate my food it wasn't even hot. I decided to give the place one more shot this afternoon and reviewed the take out menu and decided on the create your own pizza. The associate had no idea what I was talking about even after I showed him the menu. I read verbatim what the menu said. As he attempted to put it in the system, it was clear he did not know what he was doing. He asked the manager for help and the manager came over, did not even look at me, pressed a few things on the register and left the associate still confused. A pizza that should have been $19 came up to $32. I told him that was incorrect and did the math for him while showing him the menu and he said "well that's what the system says and there's nothing I can do about it." I ended up leaving. Poor service and everyone else who was not of color was treated with perfection, kindness and greeted when they walked in. Never again! read more

I called in an order on Saturday afternoon 7/25/20. When I was looking at the menu online, I noticed the prices have increased. The food here is very good and the staff is always friendly. The girl who took my order did acknowledge higher prices and I was not the only one who questioned this. I understand that food prices have increased during Covid and if its tough for the customers, I am sure it has to be tough for business as well. My order was $87.15 not including the tip for delivery person. I was also charged a 2.50 delivery fee as well. I think an Avocado salad for 14.25 is ridiculous and the price for pasta dishes and heroes were also overpriced. I did get a complimentary tray of garlic sticks due to the amount of my order but I was wondering why give me a free item? Just keep the prices the same or give a discount for larger orders. I would rather save the money than get garlic sticks. But like I said, The food was great, girl who took order was very friendly and delivery guy was also very nice. Pizzaiola has been my go-to pizza spot in Oceanside since childhood. The Sicilian slices are consistently delicious; they're not too doughy, and they have a good cheese-to-sauce ratio. The regular and grandma slices are delicious, too. Even after spending 9 years in NYC, I consider Pizzaiola to be one of my all-time favorite pizza places! So, why 3 stars? For one, I've never been super impressed with anything I've ordered from the sit-down part of the restaurant, which serves generic, unremarkable Italian food. The servers at the pizza counter can be brusque and rude. And, to add to that, it's one of those local-type places where if you don't know "the rules" of how it operates, you'll have trouble getting your turn to order and your cluelessness will annoy the staff and other patrons. read more

Their regular is also one of the better slices you will have in your life. They also make really good rice balls, salad slices, and buffalo chicken slices. People in our group had a wide variety of life threatening allergies. Several of the waitstaff and also the own checked in with our table. If it's made on premises they said it's nut free. And the owner took it very seriously. Have been to tons of restaurants and can tell from 1-10 how seriously they take it and/or how well they understand Nut allergies. That being said, brick oven pizza was very nice and pasta dishes were outstanding. Very large portions. Expect to take home a second dinner (or big lunch). The linguine in white clam sauce was delicious. The chicken parmigiana was also real good. My son ordered tortellini alfredo however he did not enjoy it. The restaurant was quite busy on a Thursday. We were seated quickly. He decor is bright and clean looking. I like the sconces at the tables. We had the escarole and bean soup. The beans were freshly cooked and firm. The chicken was cubed for bite sized spooning. The escarole was very fresh and almost blanched but there wasn't That much of he whole leaf I'm used to. And there wasn't any muddling of the beans. So the broth was clear. I'm telling you this because it's a different take on escarole and bean soup. I tasted no garlic either. But I have it good marks for freshness. The Puttanesca was also very good. And all the flavors came through. The capers, olives, anchovy and tomato, but the heat was absent. My Fiorentino was pretty creamy and had a good amount of mozzarella but I Don't think there's enough fresh spinach in the dish. The service was good. read more

Tonight for Mothers day I took my wife Lucy to Pizziola for dinner. From the moment we sat down to when we left we were treated like special guest. I had the baby lamb chop special and my wife the pasta , we started with some baked clams which were great. We killed the bread on the butter,lemon and clam juice. Those were the best lamb chops I've ever had , and four very large chops they were, just great. The potatoes,pea's and onions were a nice addition. Our waitress Diane was so nice and made sure we were satisfied. Then the ManagerJoe came by, said hello and asked if everything is OK. I could see he was keeping an eye on his staff and yet paid attention to my wife's comments which is pretty impressive. This place does not rush you and makes you feel relaxed and welcomed. It's head and shoulders above the average pizza-and-pasta place on Long Island; I've been in white-tablecloth restaurants where the food isn't as good.
