All we ordered was some quick take out before hitting the road to head upstate. We ordered a regular slice, six garlic knots, and a tossed salad. Your typical slice. The garlic knots were PERFECTLY garlicy and oily. The salad was simple but it was really only a snack. I wasn't a fan of the raw mushrooms on the salad but the dressing was solid. I find so often that pizza places overdo the oil and lack on vinegar. It's worth a simple bite! Definitely not my absolute favorite pizza place but gets the job done! read more

Nice vibe and good pizza! What more can you ask for. I'm learning eating pizza right out of the oven does something to the taste. If you let the pizza cool off for 5-10 minutes, all the flavors rush to the surface. That's what happened last night. I had the Grandmas and the last slice really lit me up! I'm really upset about what happened last night. I have been living in Oceanside now since February but over the last two years traveled here on the weekends I absolutely love pizzaiola! I have to say it's my favorite pizzeria in the area! I've ordered several different meals on the menu over the last 2 years. Last night, I ordered take out of penne aka vodka with shrimp and tiramisu. My boyfriend has linguine with fried chicken and I purchased a sandwich for tomorrow because I will be traveling. The penne aka vodka I have ordered before and I have loveddddddd it! Hands down one of the best! First time ordering it with shrimp though! I also have never had the tiramisu About a half hour after I ate I had a severe stomachache and what I thought was heart burn. I just kept saying how I didn't feel good. I took medicine and that didn't help. I began violently vomiting. I can't 100% say it was the food but I honestly don't know what else it could have been. I ate and a half hour later I was very sick! I still love pizzaiola but I think I'm going to stay away for a little bit. And perhaps not order the shrimp again! I don't really know and I am very torn. Still giving four stars though because I really enjoy this place. If you like grandma slices! This is your place. read more

Great pizza anywhere I've ever had it. Problem is the prices are going up so high, so fast. Joe put a few new things on the menu and they are not worth the exorbitant prices he is charging. The new stuffed eggplant was $9.00! $9.00! It WAS WILTED, WET, MUSHY, and not good. Not worth the price. The salad slice was dry, hardly any vinegar at all and way too much blue cheese. I threw that in the garbage. Can't have dinner there too often and now stopping in for a few slices are not in the budget for too many visits a month either. Advice: Don't get too greedy or you will lose more customers. We notice more than you think we do, as customers. We are not idiots. read more

The service and food were the worst I've ever experienced. We waited 15 minutes in the dining area before anyone even asked if we wanted drinks. When the waiter finally came, we ordered pizza with no cheese. He didn't know what a grandma slice was, so we spent five minutes explaining that we wanted pizza with no cheese. We also ordered pasta fagioli soup, which turned out to be just broth and cannellini beans. It was disgusting. I say read your own menu pazziola. The pizza crust was good, but it only had a thin smear of pasty sauce--no tomatoes, basil, or olive oil. When I asked the older woman near the phones, who seemed to be the owner or hostess, about the meal, she curtly replied, "That's how we make it here," without offering any resolution. They should be embarrassed to serve such poor-quality food. If we weren't starving, we would have walked out. Unless you're stopping in for a basic slice of pizza, I'd suggest finding another place for a quick Italian meal. read more

Dined here tonight and cut my tongue on a STAPLE in my side dish of penne ala vodka. Had to run to the restroom and saw I was cut. Immediately made our waitress aware. She said she'd let the owner know and took the pasta to get a new one. No owner ever came to apologize, nothing was taken off the bill (they even charged the $3.25 up charge for the vodka sauce). Meanwhile I have a cut tongue and have been a loyal customer for years. Never again!!! Judging from similar reviews the owner doesn't value his customers. I had the panini of chicken, arugula, mozzarella, and tomatoes. They changed the bread back to the original and it was great. My only complaint is that they put the tomatoes on top and bottom with the chicken, mozz, lettuce in the middle, which made the bread so soggy I had to tear it off. Maybe they need to put the tomatoes in the middle of the sandwich so the bread stays crispy. I will be checking back to let you know if they made any changes. read more

The food is fine, I like the food here. However customer service needs improvement, every time I get take out they get my name wrong. My name is Phil and tonight they wrote Bell. They always have issues finding my order because they have my name wrong. Tonight one of the employers argued with me and said they get the name from caller ID. I have been eating food from here for years until yesterday they gave me a Buffalo chicken pie with pieces of undercooked chicken that I couldn't chew, as I'm checking the other undercooked pieces my girlfriend pulls out 3 fruit flies from her Buffalo chicken salad.. Pizzaiola was one of the first restaurants I ate when I moved to Oceanside. Even though I truly enjoyed their pizza I hadn't gone back in a long time until last night. The restaurant looks so beautiful! The table booth, the decor and the ambiance was very charming with a contemporary modern look to it. We were quickly seated and was greeted by our bus boys with some delicious bread. Our server was Phyllis and she was very kind and gave us some awesome suggestions about the food. For an appetizer I ordered their Pasta E Fagioli a pasta and bean soup it was so fragrant and hearty. As an entree I had their Tortellini Mascarpone which includes cheese tortellini with julienne style pepperoni, roasted red peppers sautéed in a cream sauce and topped with a dollop of their imported mascarpone cheese...This was insanely good and truly a MUST try!! read more

Went to meet friends for lunch while waiting I saw a slice of Pizza was $3.40 at the counter. My friends arrived and we sat down the waitress came over with our menus and I saw that the same slice of Pizza was now $4.60 a slice. I feel that this is really not right, I could understand main dishes being a little more because of table service but this was an additional $ 1.20 per slice is a bit much. Food is decent. I go to this spot because its the closest to my house. Service though is kind of iffy. I can't speak on behalf of the people working at the restaurant, but the delivery guy is ass according to my sister. The most recent time, my sister ordered food over the phone to have it delivered. Mind you Pizzaiola is right behind our house so it's just a 2 minute walk. When she ordered over the phone she decided to include the delivery tip along with the payment for the food. When the delivery guy got here he literally just rang the doorbell, left the flood on the floor and left. My sister opened the door and the food was just on the ground with no delivery guy in sight. All the other times we ordered food and the guy delivered he'd wait, we would come to the door and he'd hand us the food and we'd give him the tip. I guess good service is only dished out when tip is expected. I've been coming here ever since I was a little kid. Hands down my favorite Italian place in Long Island. The stuff artichoke is always a must if it's in season, and all the pastas and pizzas are so fresh and delicious. I have never had a bad experience here, and the waiters are always so friendly. Most of the staff has been there for over 10 years so it shows the culture of the restaurant. They truly provide a true Italian family feel. Side highlight: they have delicious Italian Ices that you can order for desert! What a busy bustling place. We figured it had to be good. So we walked inside and was seated quickly. The first thing I noticed was the lack of aroma. I couldn't understand how come I couldn't smell any food. Considering all the food that was coming out of this place. So we continued to order. We split a Caesar salad and a plain pizza pie. Our waitress was very sweet and attentive. So now comes the reality of it all. The Caesar salad had no flavor and the shredded cheese on top, from a plastic bag for sure. We didn't care we were hungry so we ate it, adding some spices from the rack on the table. Though, we didn't have any graded cheese. Next.....our pizza came and it looked really good. So we dig in only to once again taste nothing. I mean absolutely tasteless. So off to the spice rack we go. I used everything on that rack and we even got the cheese from the waitress. So now I'm finally tasting some cheese, red pepper flakes, S&P and I even used the powdered garlic (sorry I'm Italian and this is a real no no). Had lunch one day after hours of shopping next door. I thought it was just a pizzeria. All I really wanted was a slice. Except when I got in, I was seated in the restaurant so I assumed they only served personal pan pizzas. It was much more than I cared to spend, especially when all I wanted was a single slice of regular slice. After being seated by the hostess/greeter, I was given a menu. I was overwhelmed by the choices and distracted by what I heard. My server, who I assume, was the manager. She kept telling the greeter that she's cutting her hours since it's not busy. The greeter informed her that she just started her shift but that fell on deaf ears with her manager/server who told her to feel free to have her staff meal but to make sure she clocked out first. I guess she wants to make sure to not have to pay her during her lunch break. I don't know about you but the decent thing to do was for the manager to call the greeter prior to her shift starting to let her know she's not needed for the day but if she was really needed for the 2 hours, the least they could do was give her a paid lunch break and to speak to her privately. Don't give us a show. It certainly helped me when having to decide what to leave for a tip! read more
