I ordered a custom 10" pizza from them with vegan cheese, Impossible meatballs, and vegetables. The pizza tasted great and wasn't too salty or too greasy, which are the most common takeout pizza crimes. The crust was perfectly cooked. I got to the store a few minutes before my order was supposed to be ready (the estimate was 10-20 minutes for pickup) and it was just about to come out of the oven as I got there, so it was fresh and hot when I got it. It was a busy night but good lord. We got a text that our pizza was ready and showed up 5 minutes later. While we were in the store, three other people came in and their orders had been lost. And of course we find out so was ours. Even after we gave our name they said sure, sure, we got it but then admitted that they didn't 10 minutes later while we were waiting. They apologized but there seems to be a problem in general with pulling something together that should take 11 minutes start to finish. When a pizza is ordered at 9:40 and still isn't ready by 11:15, you have a problem. I ordered on the app and despite many previous positive experiences, I had called due to a general question about wait times because the app has sometimes given me the wrong estimate. So I called in and just asked the general question on when an estimated delivery time would be because the app has been wrong in the past and one of the female workers there Answered and was very rude and hostile towards my question even looking at my number in the order when I had just asked a question pertaining to general wait times nothing about my order in particular. At the wee hours of the night I was hungry enough to eat a whole pizza (PizzaX is open until like 3 or 4 AM). I ordered online and the pizza was ready in about 20 minutes. A lot of the other pizza places I've been to in Bloomington have something weird going on with the crust, but thankfully I didn't have that issue here! I got the Ragin' Cajun and it was really good! The sauce was spicy and there was plenty of toppings. It was a little pricy but I still feel like I got my money's worth. It took an hour to deliver my pizza when my address was 3 minutes away. When I called the restaurant, the lady who answered the phone was agitated that I was calling and made it seem like I was inconveniencing her. Her customer service was horrible and she should honestly never pick up the phone again. Instead of getting mad at me, maybe she can offer some sort of refund or discount for next time. Cool concept. Love the brand, atmosphere, building, menu, etc. Unfortunately I didn't like my plain cheese pizza. The traditional crust had way too much bread, and there was a lot of grease on the cheese. I got sick from the pizza the day of, and the morning after when I decided to have a slice for breakfast. My wife is an IU alumna from 1995 and has good memories of Pizza X (pizza express back in those days). This is the perfect pizza delivery for drunk people, especially college kids. The pizza is good, but not great. The same is true of the breadsticks, which come with a dipping sauce of your choice - the wife insists on the garlic butter sauce. Most recently, we ordered the Big X Special late at night and there was a delivery error- we got our pizza and the wrong order and were told to keep both. Can't complain about that kind of error. Pizza X is reliable and a great value (there is definitely an added taste bonus if you are someone who associates it with nostalgia/college memories). I highly recommend ordering pizza from them over any big pizza chain, especially if you are serving a crowd or are in the mood for classic/basic pizza. (They do have specialty pizzas...that are maybe good, but I haven't tried them! ) Unlike a box chain they are local, the quality is better, the price is very comparable, and their delivery services covers lots of ground (something we've learned during quarantine ). I usually go for a cheese pizza and breadsticks. I really like their breadsticks - in all their salty, misshaped glory. If you're a true midwesterner ranch and nacho cheese are the way to go for dipping sauces. But if you are just getting one sauce, definitely go with the ranch. When we get Pizza X we go big with the Big X Bargain: large pizza, order of breadsticks + sauce, and two drinks for $14.99. Although the prices have gone up since I left (e.g. the "Big 10" is no longer $10), I'm sure it's right along in line with inflation. The pizza I remember is definitely superior to Domino's. Let me start off by saying that I am NOT the kind of person who watches their sodium intake. I eat what I like, and I like salty food. I've even eaten an entire jar of pickles in one sitting (no, I was not pregnant). With that being said... HOLY CRAP do not get Pizza X's new buffalo sauce on your pizza. It is seriously like drinking a bottle of, well, buffalo sauce. We specifically asked while ordering whether it would be obscenely salty, and the employee said, no, not salty. But it's really "spicy." We decided to try it. Papa Johns or somewhere used to have a really amazing buffalo chicken pizza, and we were trying to re-create it. Key difference: at PJ's, the buffalo sauce was *extra*, in addition to regular sauce. Of course, we get home, and the pizza is borderline too salty for consumption (upside: portion control! I'm stopping at two slices, not out of self-restraint, but because it kind of feels like my teeth and tongue are going to fall out. FROM SALT, not "spice"). Anyway, don't make the same mistake I did. Three stars because Pizza X is fine overall and I've eaten there many times over the years. Never thought it was a great value for the money, but it's good pizza.
