Randomly found this pizza place. Super good and even better that it's Halal. Will definitely order again.

I rarely visit a place twice (because there's so many good food places out there) but I ended up eating here twice in one day on our trip because of all the glowing reviews. I had not and still have not heard one negative thing about their food, including the reviews and the friendly faces eating around us; seems like the only way to go wrong is if you don't eat here! We even got to meet the owner who was working behind the bar. Ambiance is cool. They have a little shop area that you can buy local art work, soaps, and jewelry. They have a sitting area with just couches and a table. There are various board games you can play. There are different types of seating. You can sit at the bar, high top bench area, normal dining area with chairs, or sit in front of the ramen bar and watch her chef it up! The food was ok. I give this a 5 star review because my partner was obsessed with the ramen bowl and the sushi (i didn't get a picture of the sushi unfortunately). The corn dip was great. It had a lot of flavor but i will say, the portion size was off. Not happy about how little dip we got. There were tons of left over chips. The chips tasted like they were made in house. The old fashioned was great. We opted for the in house bourbon. The espresso martini was a disappointment. The size of this was very small for the price. I even asked the owner about this, and he informed me it was an illusion based on the shape of the glass. I don't believe that because i was barely buzzed. It also didn't come with a rim like stated in the drink description. The India power bowl was also a huge let down. I opted for quinoa. The butter chicken, chickpeas, and quinoa were super dry. Not very impressed. It didn't have much Indian spice flavor. Best to stick to the sushi and the ramen bowl.

We stopped in for a bite of lunch and ended up spending half the afternoon! Amazing wine and beer selection and very creative food menu. The place is actually a collective - with various independent small businesses under the same roof. They make it easy to open a single tab and purchase from multiple places but pay all at once. Service was amazing - welcoming and very helpful to orient us to how to order. Warm, friendly and professional throughout our stay. The business area in historic downtown Cumberland is undergoing major work on the street and sidewalks - but it was easy to find free parking nearby and had no problem finding our way here. A really memorable place and great people - highly recommend if you are in Cumberland and looking for good food and a pleasant experience!

(Really, when I checked in on Swarm, it had been 13 years since my last visit. Now we're going every month or so.) While I noticed some updating--there's more wood paneling, and the menu is sleeker, for lack of a better word--the restaurant still has a warm, friendly vibe with sunflower imagery throughout. The menu is a twist on Asian food, with plenty of analogues, chunks of soy and/or wheat protein, and some vegetables. It's not all vegan--a few dishes have dairy and/or honey, and I suspect one of the noodle dishes uses egg noodles--but those items are clearly marked. We were last there on Thanksgiving and tried a few new things. The veggie kabob reminded me a bit of the kabob at the late, lamented Harmony Cafe in Georgetown. Sure, I'll get that again. I'm not so sure about the mushroom dish. I do love mushrooms, but perhaps this isn't the way to go about it. On prior visits, we've gone with old familiars. The fried "chicken" appetizer (chunks of soy protein and mushrooms fried and served with a spicy ketchup) are a classic. I am still trying to find my go-to entree. Maybe the Crispy Happiness (chunks of soy protein and shredded vegetables cooked mild)? It's a bit far from DC, but it is worth the trip.

We were greeted warmly by one of the staff and told to choose our seating. After a few minutes she returned for drinks and appetizer orders. My wife order a mango lassi, and we decided on the fresh palak chaat. I tasted her mango lassi and agreed with her assessment that it was delicious--very creamy and thick. Our chaat consisted of a lightly battered and fried spinach, which we found addicting. It was light and crunchy with a small dollop or two of a seasoned, sweetened yogurt. We liked the dish, but longed for a bit more yogurt to temper its natural dryness. For our entrées, my wife decided on the Baingan Masala and I opted for the vegetable biryani. It's nice that Spice offers a mild, medium or hot spice level. Indian cuisine is all about the spices and they are explained in detail on a wall poster above the buffet unit. Pretty cool. Mt wife ordered mild heat for her dish (stewed eggplant with onions, tomatoes, and spices), and I chose medium. The spiciness was right on. Both dishes were tasty, but nothing we would order again. The portion of my biryani was "gut busting", and the raita was pleasant. Spice was a nice find, and within walking distance from our hotel.
