I was interested to see what stores were still around and what new ones were there. As I took the escalator up to the second level (where Sears used to be) I saw a sign that said "Irresistable Cupcakes". Well...they had me at "cupcakes" :D I stopped in and the man who was working there welcomed me. He was patient as I looked over their offerings. I ended up buying one strawberry shortcake cupcake and one vanilla cupcake. When he put the cupcakes in a container and then a bag, he gave me their business card. Apparently, they also do catering and will do custom cakes. Later that day, we tried the cupcakes. My husband really liked the strawberry shortcake one and said the strawberry flavoring came through clearly. He even suspected that some strawberry flavoring was added to the cake part. I enjoyed the vanilla one which actually had subtle vanilla flavor. As for ambience --- It's a small place with a couple of tables for those who want to eat their cupcakes right after buying them. We both agree that next time we're at the mall, we will once again bring some cupcakes home with us!

The cake was on display at the Mission BBQ on Lee Highway in Fairfax on Veteran's Day, Nov 2024 - with complimentary cake slices offered to customers that day. Beautiful commemoration in honor of our veteran community and their service. Btw, Mission has some of the BEST BBQ in the NoVA area (Fairfax and Herndon are my favorite locs) with super reasonable prices and portion sizes in a clean, casual, order & pay-at-the-counter atmosphere (read my review of Mission Fairfax)...shameless side plug for Mission but, heck, why not. The taste of the Cake Divas cake I had that day was SPECTACULAR - truly probably one of the best, if not THE BEST, tasting yellow cakes I've ever had. Even though it was an unconventional ask, Fadia was more than willing to work with us. We had a lot of questions and requests- she was responsive, patient, and seemed genuinely excited for us. She was a pleasure to work with and delivered the cakes beautifully decorated and on time. We ended up getting the 8" cake with gold foil and real flowers. It was so beautiful and elegant. Once we cut into it, we saw that it was a carrot cake so we knew we were having a boy! The carrot cake itself was perfect. We've had many carrot cakes in the area and all agreed this was the best! It was moist and had a perfect frosting to cake ratio. The sweetness level was exactly what we were looking for- not too sweet. We also ordered a tray of baklava. It was crunchy, full of nuts, and not too sweet. It was $35 for the tray. Much more affordable than buying it by the piece at a bakery. Can't wait to try more of Fadia's treats. We were tempted by the cookies but will wait for next time!
