    Slice of Detroit style pizza
    Joel S.

Accidentally found this place while walking around on Telegraph. Had a slice of Detroit style and it was very good. The sauce had a nice tang to it and the crust a great crunch. It's in a difficult area for parking and not many seats inside.

Love Temescal, Neighbourhood had this pizza for the first time. There is a separate line to order slices and pizza on the spot or you could order online and pick up in a different door. They had a little bit of seating outside, but no indoor sitting. The employees were super nice and helpful very attentive to the tables to make sure they were clean ready for the next guest. I got a slice of the buffalo chicken and my husband got a slice of the pepperoni. These slices were huge and very tasty. When you're in the neighborhood, definitely stop by and grab a slice. A slice goes for about five dollars.

Pizza so crunchy, you can easily hear yourself chew. I will be coming back here again for sure because I love Detroit style, and they have some good flavors! Easy for on the go or if you wanna enjoy the sun casually on an outside table watching the passers by.

Wow, why haven't I tried this until now!? This is a solid pizza place. I would highly recommend this spot! This pizza is nice and crisp. The toppings are minimal but perfect! It's cool that the place is open late. They got outdoor and indoor seating. They do pizza by the slice and they make sure it's nice and toasty for you. The people are friendly and chill too! You can tell they put in the work!

This place has an astonishingly legit array of NY-style slices. I somehow overlooked it for years, and boy do I regret it. The burrata slice! Even the straight cheese slice never fails to satisfy. Not much seating here so you may have to eat it on the run, but it is still worth it.

Pizza Ponte is a true hidden gem in the East Bay! This is a fast casual spot, you can sit outside or take to go. The service is fast and the staff is very friendly. I got the Sicilian-style pepperoni w/ ricotta cheese and a slice of the green goddess and they were phenomenal. The pizza was perfectly cooked, crispy but not hard. 10/10 will be making this a regular spot.

A hidden gem! Decided upon Pizza Ponte in the midst of a late night pizza craving, and it did not disappoint! I am a fan of NY style pizza as is, but I was blown away by the fluffy flavorful crust and mouth-watering presentation. I got a make-your-own pizza with pepperoni, Canadian bacon, and bell peppers, and topped with basil, stringy parmesan and tasty ranch dressing. Enjoyed this delicious mouthful on their cute outdoor seating area on a warm night. Great experience, and I am without a doubt making my way back to Pizza Ponte!

What a delightful surprise finding this quaint pizza shop in Temescal. We shared 3 slices: Buffalo chicken, green goddess, and square slice with everything. The crust was perfection and both the chicken and green pesto slices were delicious. The pizza also came with a nice smoky sauce in a bottle. I thought that was a nice touch.

This is our new favorite pizza spot in the east bay! Love that you can get different styles of pizza all at the same place. My favorites are the green goddess NY slice which has a delicious white sauce and lots of garlic. The pepperoni nonna is also delicious but super big and filling so great for sharing. The classic cheese was good but need some more flavor in my opinion (maybe some more sauce). I thought the d-town was too thick and bready so I'd stick to the classic slices and the nonna. If you're looking for a solid slice shop that has nice crispy crust, this is your place. Also get the spicy ranch, trust me.

What a great place for after 9PM quick bites as they have one of the best pizza by the slice in my opinion. There was a line but it move pretty quickly. I would take about 10 min for the hot from the oven slice to come out. Be sure you have another name if your name are already been used, it was funny when the waitress said pick a new name. It's just a hole in the wall fast food style, with some table outside and a small counter to eat inside. There is a fridge to grab dessert, salad and drink. Overall, I like both the Detroit style as well as the NY pie. The crust was crispy outside yet soft and airy inside. Saude was light, flavor full and the shaved parm was perfect addition. We had the buffalo chicken, pepperoni, green goddess and D town. All were equally good. We will try to order a made our own next time. The tiramisu was also excellent, creamy, not too sweet and perfect texture for the lady fingers. Needless to say we told our family and friends to come and try too.

4.5 stars Some of the better pizza, specifically New York style, in the area. I prefer to stick with the classic pepperoni. The supreme/combo was good but not as good. Maybe a bit too much going on, maybe adds too much moisture and weight. Detroit style was pretty solid too. Worth trying if you don't usually

This is one of my fav places for pizza takeout! The slices are generous and decently priced. My favorite are the bbq chicken and the stracciatella slices. Love the parmesan they shave on top. Service is always fast, and the workers are friendly.

Jeff, the owner and pizza maker, is so nice, warmly welcoming us upon arrival and inquired if we'd prefer indoor or outdoor seating. Beautiful day so opted for outdoor on their expansive back patio. Miso mushroom - new to me, savory and bright flavor. Yuzu and lemon acidity cuts into the savory of the mushroom and miso. Might be one of my new favorites. Soppresata - an OG item on the menu and one of my favorites. Simple classic pizza with soppresata topped with scallions and honey. Savory, sweet. The honey is perfect on this pizza. Longanisa - Filipino inspired with longanisa, baked egg, and tomato. Savory and sweet. Heaviest of the three pizzas. Comes with a side of sweet vinegar to drizzle on top. All three of these pizzas easily are favorites for me. They're super large and best to share with 2-3 people. All thin crust. 6 of us had these three pizzas and were able to finish it but were super stuffed. Wishing the best to Jeff and Spinning Dough's next adventure.

At least I got to go a couple times before they closed and was able to try all the unique flavors that I wanted to try. The first time I went was with my family. We got a whole Ube pizza. The taste was good, and love the uniqueness of it. Even the dough is purple! There weren't that many people there when we went, so the service was quick. My second visit was closing weekend with a group of friends. I got to try two more flavors recommended by the server during my first visit - blackberry and longanisa. Both were very good in different ways. I think I preferred the blackberry slightly over longanisa. They had a lot of take out orders that day, and we got the last white dough (there were still Ube). Good thing we got what we got. Even though they were super busy, the service was still quick and pizza came out fast. I heard they opened up again in San Francisco but for take out only. So glad they reopened because after having the amazing pizzas right before they closed on Oakland, my friends and I were sad that we didn't go sooner. Can't wait to try again in the future.

Their pizzas are already reliably delicious, but this deal is genuinely outstanding value since you get a large 18" pizza, your choice of a Caesar or dinner salad, and four very large sea salt chocolate chip cookies, all for $35. We grabbed two of these specials for a group of six and still had leftovers, so I'd say one combo easily feeds three people and could probably stretch to four as long as no one is absolutely starving. The pizzas themselves are ultra thin but still hold up structurally since you can lift and fold each slice without everything collapsing, which is exactly how I like to inhale my pizza. I personally wish the crust were just a touch more burnt and crackly on the edges, but even without that extra char, the flavor and bouncy chew of the dough were spot on. We ordered the Hot Italian and the Sausage & Roasted Garlic pies and absolutely loved both, especially the housemade sweet Italian sausage that appears on each, which is savory, slightly sweet, and super satisfying in every bite. Their house tomato sauce deserves its own shout out because it hits that ideal balance of sweetness and acidity and ties everything together perfectly. On the Sausage & Roasted Garlic it plays beautifully with the rich roasted garlic purée, and on the Hot Italian it stands up nicely to the Calabrian chilis and chili oil without getting lost. The sea salt chocolate chip cookies that come with the special are huge and packed with chocolate chips, and that little hit of salt really enhanced the flavors but the something about the texture was a bit off for me as it wasn't quite chewy or crumbly but rather something in between, which left me a little confused. Another big plus is that Violetta has a full bar so you can pair your meal with a beer, a glass of wine, or a cocktail to match whatever pie you are in the mood for. Between the quality of the ingredients, the thoughtfulness of the flavor combinations, and the generosity of the Restaurant Week deal, Pizzeria Violetta is an easy recommend and a spot I would happily return to with a group (or by myself with plenty of leftovers!).

We also ordered a side of their blue cheese and basil ranch. I didn't know ranch could get any better than plain ranch. Basil ranch was bright and also creamy.
