I generally like this place, but my recent negative experience was not a one off: Pizza gets a 5+ (when it's hot). Really outstanding. Service was pretty poor. I got a text that my pizza was ready, so I rushed over to pick it up and they said it wouldn't be ready for 10 minutes, which seemed odd. When I checked back, my pizza was cold and had clearly been sitting for 8 or 9 minutes. Guy seemed like he could not care any less. The total lack of concern was pretty off putting and motivated me to take the time to write a critical review (something I rarely do). read more

They were very friendly and wished us a good night as we left I just got back from NY so ima give it my Dave Portoy score of 7.2. Was solid. Little flop. Reallllly good pepperonis. Love Temescal, Neighbourhood had this pizza for the first time. There is a separate line to order slices and pizza on the spot or you could order online and pick up in a different door. They had a little bit of seating outside, but no indoor sitting. The employees were super nice and helpful very attentive to the tables to make sure they were clean ready for the next guest. I got a slice of the buffalo chicken and my husband got a slice of the pepperoni. These slices were huge and very tasty. When you're in the neighborhood, definitely stop by and grab a slice. These guys are pizza wizards. This is the best cheese slice I think I've ever had. It's up there with some of the best slices in NY. Wow, I was kinda blown away when I had my first bite. A hidden gem! Decided upon Pizza Ponte in the midst of a late night pizza craving, and it did not disappoint! I am a fan of NY style pizza as is, but I was blown away by the fluffy flavorful crust and mouth-watering presentation. When you see a line before doors open, you know it has to be good. Fantastic pizza. A mash-up of NY style with Californian flavors. And their Detroit style, while not really Detroit style with the cheese crust charred into the side of the edges to make it crispy. So, essentially, it's a really good pan pizza. The flavors and soft fluffy interior with a crispy shell. Very filling and did not disappoint. My favorite from them is the Green Goddess. Pesto, cheese, white sauce, and topped with fresh grated parmesan. Thin crust where you can fold it and crispy, The flavors are phenomenal, and you can tell they care about the quality of the ingredients. Limited outdoor seating. This is our new favorite pizza spot in the east bay! Love that you can get different styles of pizza all at the same place. My favorites are the green goddess NY slice which has a delicious white sauce and lots of garlic. The pepperoni nonna is also delicious but super big and filling so great for sharing. The classic cheese was good but need some more flavor in my opinion (maybe some more sauce). I thought the d-town was too thick and bready so I'd stick to the classic slices and the nonna. What a great place for after 9PM quick bites as they have one of the best pizza by the slice in my opinion. There was a line but it move pretty quickly. I would take about 10 min for the hot from the oven slice to come out. Be sure you have another name if your name are already been used, it was funny when the waitress said pick a new name. It's just a hole in the wall fast food style, with some table outside and a small counter to eat inside. There is a fridge to grab dessert, salad and drink. Overall, I like both the Detroit style as well as the NY pie. The crust was crispy outside yet soft and airy inside. Saude was light, flavor full and the shaved parm was perfect addition. We had the buffalo chicken, pepperoni, green goddess and D town. All were equally good. We will try to order a made our own next time. The tiramisu was also excellent, creamy, not too sweet and perfect texture for the lady fingers. Needless to say we told our family and friends to come and try too. read more

Big fan of thin crust pizzas if they're done well, and Pizza Ponte did not disappoint! They are located on a busy street so parking can be difficult, but not impossible. The shop is small with limited seating both indoors and outdoors. We ordered a slice of the pepperoni pizza and a slice of the buffalo chicken pizza, both were delicious! The pepperoni was crispy and paired really well with the ranch -- I especially love the basil that is on top. The buffalo ranch was also tasty, the buffalo was not too overpowering and was a really good balance. Service was quick, you order at the counter and they bring out the slices afterwards. read more

Oh my gosh it's so good. My newly discovered, favorite pizza spot. My boyfriend and I split the Detroit Bad Guy pizza (4 slices for $25 after tax) a couple days ago and it was bomb. The pepperoni cups are perfect. I thought it would be even better with some more basil and red pepper flakes, but we forgot to ask for some. I thought the dough was a tad bit too dense, could be fluffier, and the edges are tougher to chew but overall, I would still get it again, and I'd give it an 8/10. Today, they were offering a free pizza slice since I signed up for their rewards program last time! That's so nice~ I went to try a slice of their thin crust Genoa pesto which is normally between $5-6. After adding hot pepper flakes and a touch of my own hot honey, it was a PERFECT 10/10. Their crust is crispy, doesn't flop, and isn't burnt either. Their toppings are fresh and delicious. Just came back from New York and tried L'industrie, but I think Pizza Ponte is better! Finally got the opportunity to try a few selections from this hyped up slice shop, and it did not disappoint! They had about 10ish pies to choose from, so making a selection was not easy. I ultimately decided on Genova pesto and momma's pepperoni, so I could sample something simple, and also something square and saltier. Both were excellent in their own right, but I dug the texture of the pesto slice just a little bit more. Not a whole lote of seating, so not meant for a lengthy dining time, but there was enough seating for my wife and I to have quick lunch and enjoy a nice sunny weekend afternoon. Green Goddess: Garlicky & full of flavor. You know how spinach sometimes leaves your teeth feeling squeaky? This didn't do that. The spinach was spread under all the toppings and definitely added to the texture aspect. The pizza was crisp at the bottom and that pesto and basil were a perfect herb mixture. Pepperoni: perfect! Salty, peppery. You can never go wrong with a slice pepperoni especially a NY style slice that's just perfectly crispy ugh! Loved this! The ranch they had tasted like ranch and ceaser mixed together which added to the flavor profile of the slices. I can only judge this based on one take out experience, but it was super solid. Great New York style pizza. The large size was very big with 8 large slices, I was hungry and ate two slices and was then stuffed. One green goddess slice, aptly named, completely divine, plus a slice with excellent pepperoni. The crust is untainted by California sourdough, very thin and perfectly crisp. Given that Berkeley/Oakland is the pizza capital of California, I'm not necessarily surprised that I found a pizza place in this area that is worthy of five stars. However, I am certainly surprised that I've found a place that could give Cheeseboard a run for its money. I came across this place when I was looking for pizzerias during Oakland Restaurant Week. Upon searching on Google, I immediately saw the plethora of stellar reviews both in the news and on Yelp that this place received and knew I had to come here immediately. It is very rare that a pizza place checks nearly every box on my list of what immediately impresses me about a pizzeria upon first walking in: 1) different styles of pizza (grandma and thin-slice) 2) types of pizza that you can't get elsewhere (Green Goddess and Buffalo Chicken), 3) pizza offered by the slice, and 4) open late. If each of these qualities give this place a star, then the final fifth star is for the fact that the pizzas tasted AMAZING! I ordered the Augustus (the Restaurant Week special), the Buffalo Chicken, the Green Goddess, the Nonna pepperoni (grandma style), and Bad Guy (grandma style). I wolfed them down so fast as they were all DELICIOUS! I live in Mountain View and don't come up to Oakland super often but much like Cheeseboard, this pizzeria is definitely a place that I would be willing to make the drive. We arrived at 6:05 and the guy behind the counter says the order just came in, it's going to be another 15-20 minutes. He says wait outside (little tables out front, no seating inside) when it's ready I'll bring it out to you. We wait. Lots of other customers waiting/receiving their orders. About ten minutes later the guy behind the counter comes outside with a large tray of pizza, sits down at a table with friends and begins to eat. We go inside to inquire about our order and the girl behind the counter says it's been sitting here waiting for you. When we told her what had already transpired she apologized and said she'd talk to the first guy. Everyone makes mistakes but this felt like a series of fumbles. So while the pizza was delicious, everything else sucked. read more
