This guy came out to fix the problem which was very simple and the entire reason I used them is because I received a coupon in the mail noting a "free service call," "Tune up for $59," "Repair Specialist $50 off" and one more option for "$300 off any new garage door." They do not honor their coupons and seems like a bait-and-switch to just get you to call them and they charge you full price. He said he couldn't honor the coupon because my garage door is was a "programming" issue when it was really a repair issue. They will even charge you to use your debit card (which is basically plastic cash) like you were using a credit card and he notes that he actually prefers Zelle to avoid such a fee. I will never use them again. Beware if you get their coupons in the mail. They won't honor them. The negative reviews are correct. This company may be super competent and do great work...I'll never know, because the appointment I scheduled using their webpage came and went, no technician, no call, nothing. I had to call them and then I got a vague, confused reply about them being completely overwhelmed. So I hung up and called a different company for my garage door repair needs. Look, if you're super busy, I get it. But then you shouldn't be taking new appointments so that people are counting on you to show up. And you should call them back to let them know. If I'd known they wouldn't be able to make the appointment I scheduled, I could have called someone else yesterday and saved a whole day getting this fixed. read more

However, I had an issue with scheduling that could have been handled better along with neglecting to relay the standard charges. However, the tech Paul went above and beyond to rectify my discontent. GREAT service!! I found them through yelp and got quoted for the best price compared to other companies around my area, so I ended up scheduling my appointment with them. I got my old garage opener swapped out for the new whisper drive garage opener and let me tell you what a HUGE difference it made. It is a LOT quieter than my old one and does not shake the house. I have a newborn who would constantly get woken up easily from the old garage opener so I am VERY excited about this new one. My technician, Garrett was very knowledgeable and well-mannered. He went through everything I needed to know after he was done. He made sure all the garage openers was working, showed me how to do maintenance on the door every 3 months, and was very thorough with everything he worked on from start to end. First, I tried the Big Box Depot for a garage door, just to find out there would be a 21-week wait. That meant the end of that option, knowing that neither labor nor materials are difficult to come by. I called National Garage Door just to check what a company specializing in garage doors could do. Found their leaflet in one of those mass coupon mailings. I didn't check Yelp, but I did do a Google search and saw review there. Really positive, so I went for it. I called to find out that the door with installation was less expensive than the Depot place price AND they came out a day later to check out the exisiting door and then back the next day to install. Mine was a little more labor-intensive than expected and needed a few extra materials that they didn't anticipate. Not their fault. I'm in a 1982 house that is not in the luxury home category, so some shortcuts had originally been taken and someone before me built around the existing door. Stupid stuff that homeowners do, mostly, but also an unconventional design to begin with. Garrett came to do the job and he walked through the issues with me and got to work. He was here about 2.5 hour more than he thought he would be in order to get it finished, but the result is wonderful. I mean, it's a garage door and it's exponentially better than what I had. But I like that they didn't try to upsell me to another type of door (I hate the upsale tactic... I get it, but I hate it). I like that it was quick. I like that it was for a great price. And although I don't remember the name of the first guy who came out to check out the old door, both he and Garrett were pleasant to deal with. If I had to do it again, I would still use them and they are who I would recommend to friends. I appreciate businesses like this one that make these projects easier. Buyer Beware I typically do not participate in online reviews but my interaction with Garrett at National Garage Door was far from positive. Facts: Aug 23 of this year I met and received a quote for a new garage door from Garrett. I indicated to him I was shopping and obtaining quotes from multiple vendors. Due to other priorities I held off on the purchase. Fast forward to Oct 31. I discuss with Garrett the multiple quotes I had with one of them offering a discount that expired that day. Garrett verbally offered me a better deal. I told him I would think about it. A little later the same day I text Garrett asking for the formal quote we discussed. He responded with it would be tomorrow. He offered to come by and show samples. I had other meetings scheduled for that day and couldn't meet with him and asked again for the quote. Midday Tuesday Nov 1, I text Garrett asking when will he send me the quote. He responded with got busy and would send me the quote as soon as possible. The weekly order for the manufacturer goes out on Thursday. Wed, Nov 2, still no quote, I text Garrett again asking for the quote. He responded with he is going to pass. I immediately called him and got voicemail. He responded with text me. I responded with I am ready to order with you, I just need the quote. I never heard back from Garrett. read more

Following are a few concerns that stand out: 1. Failed to give senior discount (5%) as promised. 2. Failed to give credit for $20.00 deposit 3. Hustled me into approving a quote which was actually a contract 4. Gave me the black hardware and told me it was my job to install??? 5. Would not return when the right door would not close correctly. I was able to realign the trip sensor. 6. Did not clean up behind themselves so I ended up with flat tire. 7. Said I could use a credit card and insisted on a check at installation. 8. Told me he "might" be able to drop by in a few weeks. Nothing so far??? 9. Have warned my entire neighborhood two of which wanted my recommendation. Just a warning. Once they get their payment you are history.. There are better, more honest companies out there. read more

The garage door opener that I purchased from Gwinnett Cobb Garage Door Co. was improperly installed and as a result it crushed our cat. The Safety Reversing Sensors are supposed to be installed no more that 6 inches high and ours were over 12" high. Also the Safety Reversal System was improperly adjusted and the door did not reverse when encountering an obstacle. As a result, our precious pet of 16 years was killed. I called Gwinnett Cobb Garage Door @ 770-962-1313 and asked that the owner call me back. I have been waiting more than a week with no call back yet. I moved the Safety Reversing Beams and adjusted the Safety Reversing Sensors myself so that no other pets/children would be killed. read more

Well, there's the problem. The last doors installed in our garage were lightweight, hollow-back units, with 90-lb. counterweight springs. The new solid doors need 120-lb. springs. Small problem: There were still 90-lb. springs installed on both doors. My wife's door was continuing to function only because the door drive motor was set to 'max. output' where mine was not. (Not good for the longevity of the motor.) With the correct springs installed, both doors work fine. (Don't know if G-CGD just left the old springs in place or installed the wrong springs by mistake.) read more

This is the worst garage door company around. I don't care if they are a Trust Dale company or not. Don't trust these people with your garagE door needs. I'm so sorry that I didn't do my homework in researching this company. Charged me 1400.00 for a garage door that was installed off center and with a dent in it. After complaining, they said "too bad", because I waited over 30 days to report the dent. The problem is the dent is not noticeable during the day only at night when your car lights are shining on the door and it is a dent that was made by the strappings that the panels were held together with. The company refuses to do anything about it, so I'm out 1400.00 a crappy installation and a door with a dent. Stay away from these people, especially single women, they seem to prey on us. I'm sure if I were a man, my issues would have been taken seriously and everything would have been fixed to my satisfaction. As it was, when I called to talk to someone about my issues with the door the man on the other end laughed at me and told me I didn't know what I was talking about. SERIOUSLY!!!! First let me say we used this company because of "Trust Dale" and Angie's List since we debated between two companies. They came out and replaced everything but new doors which was completed in March. Four months later sound became louder when opening, chain snapped off, taking out all the sensor end wires. My husband called and the first person said we would charged. I called back since it should be at no charge considering only 4 months and was told from a manager that no we would not be charged and to call the office when they arrived at the appt I scheduled. I received a call at 8 am next morning confirming appt that day except my appt was following day. They came the following day and said our garage door was to heavy (wood) and we would need new doors since the opener could not support weight. First of all if they were knowledgable wouldn't this be mentioned at time we were deciding who to use. Note: Graves Garage Doors gave us a quote with new doors for an extra $250 more. But out of good faith we could get doors from this company for $500 with a $200 Discount ! Wow how special I feel. When I mentioned this he sarcastically asked to see their quote. Duh, I went with the wrong company so I trashed the other quote...Why would I keep it four months later. I told him to wait, I went inside and called this manager only to have the tech in my garage answer. When I went out to the garage he said the manager was gone so he had the phone. Of course, this tech called me 3 times and kept changing whe he would arrive at the house..Do Mot use this company because they will scam you for service fees, and upgrades when you garage doors have issues! Trust Dale does not need to endorse National Garage Door. I called another company and had them to repair the problem and was told my door was fine. read more
