First time here overall decent. Food/Drink: Pizza by the slice! Pretty good New York style pizza. Large amount of options and combos. Great combo styles. Liter Italian style menu. Needed more...something. Pizza: Nice crunch. Very flavorful, super oily though, the cheeses is the culprit. Sauce was good not too sweet could have used a little more garlic but hey is it ever enough?! The answer is No... Dinning Area: Pretty Decent Size, open, area. Table top, large counter, Plenty of seating! Prices: A little pricey. 2 slice 2 Knots and fountain special for $12.29! Parking: Street parking. Bathrooms: Bathrooms were clean. Atmosphere: During the weekday lunch rush. It was empty. No music, no TVs. Staff/Attendants: Guys looked like they didn't want to be there, no personalities, no conversations. All business, no upselling, no talking there food up, so banter. Decent experience...idk maybe one more try! 6.5/10

Just the best pizza in the Schenectady area!! I crave pizza and Italian food when I'm back home in the capital region. My family suggested trying pizza king that's by Jay Street. I ate pizza king like 2x within 2 weeks. It's the large pizza thats the perfect size for a small get together Mario kart party. WHAT I ORDERED 12 cut Large cheese pizza 12 cut sausage and mushrooms pizza Garlic knots - I wouldn't order it again, it wasn't very garlicky, more doughy The cheese pizza was my favorite. It was cheesy and simple, just the way I like it. You can taste the fresh tomato marinara on the pizza. I wish pizza king exists in CA, thinking about it had me drooling. Indoor Dining at pizza king is open. When I went in to pick up my to go pizza, there were people dinning in with their slices of pizzas. There are oven fresh specialty pizzas showcasing on their counter, you can order it by the slice. All of the flavors looks delicious. They even heat up the pizza slices for you.

Pizza King is great. I normally don't love getting slices-- I often find them dry and spongy. But the slices I had here tasted just as fresh as if I'd ordered a whole pie. And the selection can't be beat. I'd say they had at least 15 different kinds of pizza to chose from, with more coming out of the oven. I'll definitely come back next time I'm in town!

After seeing a matinee show at Proctor's Theater in Schenectady, we walked down Jay Street and saw Pizza King at the corner of Jay and Franklin Streets. Having been there a few years ago, we were interested in four slices to take home. Where else can you get so many choices of pizza? At least 15 different pizzas with meat or cheese were available as slices today. Even though, the Pizza with Ziti fascinated me, I passed. Garlic Knots were available, and people I know love them. Not our taste -- too greasy. We got the Chicken Marsala and deep dish broccoli slices. Bravo -- Crisp bottom crusts. However, the Chicken slice crust was too thin for the heavy topping -- too much cheese and too little chicken in my opinion. The thicker broccoli pizza was better. But the amount of garlic powder on it overwhelmed the flavor. This review is based on the two varieties of pizza we sampled; consequently, three stars were given. I have heard that Pizza King is a popular downtown place because of the variety of pizzas available by slice. Service is quick and efficient. The dining area has many tables in a clean, uncrowded setting.

What happened? New cook, new recipes? You were my go to pizza but the slice! No more. The party is sadly over.

This place will try to charge you $4.00 a slice... not anywhere worth it. Sub par ingredients at best. Don't waste your time

The pizza is akin to the type of pizza you'd get from a birthday. You can tell when a pizza place uses fresh, high quality ingredients, and Poppies just doesn't. The dough is clearly pressed and the pizza (and wings) are just poor quality. The service was good enough and the overall cleanliness of the place appeared good. However, I can not recommend as a good place to go for a quality slice.

This location has been the home to All In The Family Pizza (moved), Roman's Pizzeria & Deli, and Tasty Pizzeria. I stopped by Poppy's Pizzeria for a quick bite. The place was quite busy with the phone ringing. To make things quick, I got the 2 Pizza Slices with Topping & 20 oz drink for $8 plus tax. I chose a slice of pepperoni and a slice of sausage which were heated up in the oven. There is not much seating inside, but there is ample picnic table seating outside shared with Poppy's Ice Cream. The hot pizza slices were pretty good, which had a thin firm soft and chewy crust topped with the right amount of tomato sauce, meat toppings and melted cheese. I will have to try their calzone on the next visit.

First off, presentation and crust game? Solid. You're getting a good bake, decent structure, and slices that hold their own. Not floppy, not overly stiff right in that respectable middle lane. That's a win. Now let's talk about the sauce... because this is where things get mixed. Taking a look at some of the chatter on Yelp, there's a noticeable trend and I've got to agree. The sauce is inconsistent. Some bites hit with a nice tang and balance, but others feel either a little too sweet or lacking depth. It doesn't always punch through the cheese like you want it to. For a place trying to compete in the pizza game, sauce consistency is everything--and right now, it's just not elite. Cheese and toppings are good--not mind-blowing, but definitely respectable. No complaints there. Quality is there, just not standout.

We had Sunday brunch at More Perreca's. The bakery is closed on Sunday but I got a Sausage Lettuce Tomato sandwich served on toasted Perreca's bread. It was so delish. The Italian sausage was served with lettuce, tomato, roasted garlic puree, mayo and side salad. Everything was so fresh. My $11 meal was reasonably priced. The garlic purée was amazing. They need to bottle it. I'd buy some. My friend had the Mac and cheese and an espresso martini. He loved both. Rachelle was our server. She was wonderful. Very helpful. She explained some of the menu to me because there were a number of Italian sausage dishes. The food was prepared quickly which was great because we were hungry. Rachelle came back later to check on us. I gave her a thumbs up and a smile while busily chewing a bite of sandwich. The restaurant is charming with nice tin ceilings and big windows to let the light in. There are many booths which makes it cozy. When we arrived most of the tables were full. Based on the chatter in the room it sounded as though a lot of friends had gathered at the restaurant to literally break bread over brunch. The menu offers a nice variety: from egg breakfasts, assorted salads to Italian classics. It was an all around yummy and enjoyable experience. I let Rachelle know that we'll be coming back.
