Stromboli!!

Finally! A traditional neighborhood pizza place! The Stromboli was huge and delicious! I wasn't planning on eating the whole thing, but it was difficult to stop. Can't wait to try more menu items.

Stuffed roll with sausage, peppers, onions, and mozzarella cheese. Four small containers with marinara sauce.

We've been on a search for a good pizza place after our local one closed. Poppy's gets a lot of…read morepositive reviews from the community, but I can't see why. The pizza is akin to the type of pizza you'd get from a birthday. You can tell when a pizza place uses fresh, high quality ingredients, and Poppies just doesn't. The dough is clearly pressed and the pizza (and wings) are just poor quality. The service was good enough and the overall cleanliness of the place appeared good. However, I can not recommend as a good place to go for a quality slice.

They offer online ordering, but it is slightly more with the service fee than ordering in person or over the phone. This location has been the home to All In The Family Pizza (moved), Roman's Pizzeria & Deli, and Tasty Pizzeria. I stopped by Poppy's Pizzeria for a quick bite. The place was quite busy with the phone ringing. To make things quick, I got the 2 Pizza Slices with Topping & 20 oz drink for $8 plus tax. I chose a slice of pepperoni and a slice of sausage which were heated up in the oven. There is not much seating inside, but there is ample picnic table seating outside shared with Poppy's Ice Cream. The hot pizza slices were pretty good, which had a thin firm soft and chewy crust topped with the right amount of tomato sauce, meat toppings and melted cheese. I will have to try their calzone on the next visit.

Out of the many times I have been here it is amazing. They have very creatively made slices and I…read morecan also see they are very efficient. I find this place to be the pinnacle of a successful local pizzeria. The ambiance is also good. Their restaurant section however could use some cleaning on the floor and the food did take a little bit long to arrive, however with their vast menu and busy days I would like to give them another try at the sit-down experience. Would come back again and again for the slices though, for sure.

I am looking for a location that sells a good variety of slices, has sit-down tables which you actually want to sit in (no rocking tables and dirty floors for me), and has friendly staff. We recently came here again while in the area and I rediscovered it. It is definitely the best... bar none. They expanded next door into a location previously used by H&R Block, and the increased dining space is wonderful. The variety of slices they had at lunch is staggering, and not just the usual suspects either. They had eggplant lasagna pizza; chicken Fra Diavolo pizza with hot peppers (yum!); mac & cheese pizza with or without Buffalo chicken; salad pizza; etc. All looked good, and my Fra Diavolo pizza has become my favorite here. Of note: their Hawaiian pizza is a white pizza (no sauce), which is extremely unusual, but they provided a cup of sauce on the side which restored balance to the galaxy. I should point out that every Italian restaurant has their own style of red sauce: some are too acidic, some are too salty, some are too heavy with dried herbs, and some don't use enough. This place has a sauce which is similar to my Grandmas (the best!), and it is salty and acidic and oily and delicious. I could see myself parking in a chair one afternoon with a good book and slowly trying slice after slice. Since we live only about 20 minutes away, I think I will need to make the trek up to here more often.

I've always wanted to visit More Perreca's on Jay St. I've heard so much about the restaurant and…read moreespecially the bakery, Perreca's, located right next door. The businesses are located a couple of blocks from the gateway marking the entrance to Schenectady's Little Italy. So much history, food and romance in this neighborhood. We had Sunday brunch at More Perreca's. The bakery is closed on Sunday but I got a Sausage Lettuce Tomato sandwich served on toasted Perreca's bread. It was so delish. The Italian sausage was served with lettuce, tomato, roasted garlic puree, mayo and side salad. Everything was so fresh. My $11 meal was reasonably priced. The garlic purée was amazing. They need to bottle it. I'd buy some. My friend had the Mac and cheese and an espresso martini. He loved both. Rachelle was our server. She was wonderful. Very helpful. She explained some of the menu to me because there were a number of Italian sausage dishes. The food was prepared quickly which was great because we were hungry. Rachelle came back later to check on us. I gave her a thumbs up and a smile while busily chewing a bite of sandwich. The restaurant is charming with nice tin ceilings and big windows to let the light in. There are many booths which makes it cozy. When we arrived most of the tables were full. Based on the chatter in the room it sounded as though a lot of friends had gathered at the restaurant to literally break bread over brunch. The menu offers a nice variety: from egg breakfasts, assorted salads to Italian classics. It was an all around yummy and enjoyable experience. I let Rachelle know that we'll be coming back.

Our server, Rachelle M. was great! My app was garlic parm wings that were tasty & crispy-perfect. Three of us had the eggs in purgatory- 3 eggs cooked in a spicy marinara sauce w/ 4 pieces of toasted Perreca's famous Italian bread. Highly recommend this dish that's always on their menu. Others had the very good eggplant rollatini over spaghetti. The original coal-fired bakery is next door offering their signature crusty bread, red tomato pie, cheeses, meatballs, salamis, soppersottas, olives, giant cupcakes, & cannolli. Located in Schenectady's Little Italy. Restaurant hours: Sun, Wed, Thursday 11am-7pm, Fri & Sat 10am-8pm, closed Mon & Tue. More's Perreca's never disappoints. Beer, wine, & cocktails served so try here for brunch too. Thank you, Rachelle & staff. We had a great time. Nick & Liz, Albany, NY, USA
