Shrimp, cherry tomatoes, evoo, garluc, parsley cooked in a white wine sauce!!! As you can see I absolutely hated it... lol! I has an expression and lava cake for dessert. The lava cake was a little overcooked- that is the only complaint.... Other than the lady sitting across the table from me that talked loud enough for the whole restaurant to hear her conversation. I wish people would be more observant and realize they don't have to talk so loud when they're sitting at their table it made it difficult to hear the piano player and it went from a relaxing stress free feeling to an annoyance. I was so happy when her food arrived. This place is very special. It's very small. I got in because it was very early in the evening. I believe their doors open at 5 o'clock. The Tortellini al Forno had lots of flavor and was very cheesy. We did ask for it with grilled chicken and didn't get any. The waitress explained that there's a language barrier with the kitchen and mistakes like that are common. She was very understanding of the situation, as were we. I took part of my order to go, but my friend on the way home carried the box sideways and it spilled all over the inside of the bag leaving me with dry pasta, not good. The next time I came to town I knew I had to come back. I returned, solo this time, Sam was my server, and I got the Dragato again, as well as the appetizer of the garlic cheesy bread and the polpette meatballs. I had no idea something as simple as garlic cheesy bread could be made so spectacularly. I had it the first time I came here and I made sure to order it the second time. Everything I had was fantastic, and I'm not putting any sauce on it or speaking in hyperbole or recency bias. This is a little-known secret here in Indianapolis, and when I come to town I will make it a point to come here whenever I can. Unfortunately, it's hard to find great Italian food, and when you find it, you have to visit. This was great service, great atmosphere and amazing food.

The entrees (the monkfish special and the carbonara) were good but not great. I did appreciate the crispy, smoky pancetta in the carbonara but the monkfish had a somewhat mushy texture rather than the he firmness we would normally expect. The biggest issue, though, was the check. The calamari never came off, the meatballs for the children's pasta were more expensive than what was on the menu, and we were charged for an extra calamari dipping sauce that we did not ask for. Most of these problems were fixed but the whole thing illustrated a lack of attention to detail and an appearance of up-charging the customer in any way possible. The first course was fried calamari & shrimp that was well seasoned and crispy. The Della Casa Salad was a simple mixed salad with a vinaigrette dressing. For the main course I had the Short Rib Ravioli that was topped with sauce, tomatoes and asparagus. To our surprise, Italian bread and dipping sauce came at an extra cost , but worth it. Our server, Renata was very hospitable. The meal was so filling, we passed on dessert, but plan to do an encore to include dessert. Cortona's Italian Cuisine & Wine Bar will not disappoint!
