Shrimp, cherry tomatoes, evoo, garluc, parsley cooked in a white wine sauce!!! As you can see I absolutely hated it... lol! I has an expression and lava cake for dessert. The lava cake was a little overcooked- that is the only complaint.... Other than the lady sitting across the table from me that talked loud enough for the whole restaurant to hear her conversation. I wish people would be more observant and realize they don't have to talk so loud when they're sitting at their table it made it difficult to hear the piano player and it went from a relaxing stress free feeling to an annoyance. I was so happy when her food arrived. This place is very special. It's very small. I got in because it was very early in the evening. I believe their doors open at 5 o'clock. The Tortellini al Forno had lots of flavor and was very cheesy. We did ask for it with grilled chicken and didn't get any. The waitress explained that there's a language barrier with the kitchen and mistakes like that are common. She was very understanding of the situation, as were we. After leaving, my partner did start to feel sick on the drive home. I would love to come back to try their pizzas since we went the pasta route this time.

I took part of my order to go, but my friend on the way home carried the box sideways and it spilled all over the inside of the bag leaving me with dry pasta, not good. The next time I came to town I knew I had to come back. I returned, solo this time, Sam was my server, and I got the Dragato again, as well as the appetizer of the garlic cheesy bread and the polpette meatballs. I had no idea something as simple as garlic cheesy bread could be made so spectacularly. I had it the first time I came here and I made sure to order it the second time. Everything I had was fantastic, and I'm not putting any sauce on it or speaking in hyperbole or recency bias. This is a little-known secret here in Indianapolis, and when I come to town I will make it a point to come here whenever I can. Unfortunately, it's hard to find great Italian food, and when you find it, you have to visit. This was great service, great atmosphere and amazing food.

The entrees (the monkfish special and the carbonara) were good but not great. I did appreciate the crispy, smoky pancetta in the carbonara but the monkfish had a somewhat mushy texture rather than the he firmness we would normally expect. The biggest issue, though, was the check. The calamari never came off, the meatballs for the children's pasta were more expensive than what was on the menu, and we were charged for an extra calamari dipping sauce that we did not ask for. Most of these problems were fixed but the whole thing illustrated a lack of attention to detail and an appearance of up-charging the customer in any way possible. My SO had been thinking about their linguine and clams and was not disappointed. There were fewer clams than the last time (granted it's been a long while now) so it's best for a lite appetite. Service was good and the owner stopped by as well ... from Italy and these are home recipes. Looks like they recently installed new carpet which was nice. Love all the framed pictures especially in the back room. This restaurant is perfect for a special occasion, or an intimate dinner, or for just when you want some authentic great Italian food.

It was also 15 dollars. They don't serve table bread for free so I ordered some for $4 and it was about 5 1/2 slices of the same bread they used for the bruschetta. It was served with a bowl of oil with balsamic vinegar. I also asked for my pasta to be saucy and the waitress looked at me and she said, do you mean you want extra sauce? So for $2 extra I feel I got a normal amount of sauce so I'm not sure what a regular amount looks like. Unfortunately the pasta was pre-denté. Everyone else's dishes were steaming hot and the pasta was visibly able to be twirled around a fork. Mine was warm and I had to cut it with a spoon and fork just to get it separated for many bites, which were very chewy, almost hard. The ragù was fine. The atmosphere was nice for dinner. I read some other reviews and they are definitely mixed. One of my friends who had been before warned me after I was excited to initially try the cheese wheel pasta, to be careful. She said hers was wet and vodka flavored, so I didn't get it. Similar reviews said the same. I will say the calamari was some of the best I've had lately. Not chewy at all and a lovely light batter, served with tomato sauce. I did find it odd that the sauce was cold. Everyone else seemed to really enjoy their meals so this gets the 3.5 stars.
