This is my local pizzeria - I am in here several times each week, and it is very good. Slices are big, and they are generous with the cheese and toppings. The quality is great and there are always fresh pies available. The staff is friendly and gets the customer in and out quickly and with a smile. If you are really hungry, the lasagne slice is amazing-I must admit that I can only eat 1/2 of the slice at a time, as it is double-coated in ricotta, Mozzarella, with dollops of pizza sauce in between. They also serve Jamaican meat patties, sliced open and with cheese melted on top-I haven't tried them but they look so good. I highly recommend Pizza Chef if you are in Riverdale! read more

i work across the street a few times a week and when i am hungry or craving some pizza, this place hits the spot. It was huge and I told them to cut it down the middle. It was so good though that I ate the whole slice. It was hot and crispy, how a pizza supposed to be. Customer service was fast and great. The price was reasonable and worth my five dollars. I would order from here often, but they don't deliver. So when I'm in this area not far from where I live I will buy a slice. We love ordering from Pizza Chef. It's fast, delicious and cost effective. Our daughter really enjoys the broccoli with garlic, she's 4! I love their Stromboli and my husband loves the pizza. When my MIL comes to babysit, she usually requests we pay her in pizza from the "pizza doctor" :D it's become an ongoing joke because she can't remember their name. YUMMMMM. I don't think I've ever had a big ass slice of pizza like this before! I literally didn't even know how to pick it up to eat it! It was that big, and FULLL of toppings! YUM! We grabbed a menu and decided on what we wanted before even entering the small hole in the wall. However once I saw the pizzas, I picked one at random, well it looked amazing, and turns out it was a lasagne pizza!! YUMMMMMMMMY! The crispy chicken salad ... this was like having chicken croutons on lettuce, which ISNT BAD at ALL! It's very thin slices of chicken with a thick breading on top. Well blow me over! I ordered the chicken francese tonight for take-out by chance as another restaurant was closed. I had no idea they even made this dish. I just thought they offered whatever food was out on display. It was a 15 minute wait which they indicated when ordering. I didn't have high hopes given the experience with their pizza. Boy, was I surprised. I am not sure what was going on back in that kitchen but the chicken francese was amazing! The chicken was battered just right and the sauce was magnifique. The ziti with marina sauce was a generous portion and decently good. I just can't stop thinking about that chicken and the sauce. I will be back for this dish and will be open to trying other selections as well. read more

Local pizzeria that's friendly and always on point with their delivery. I have been ordering from them over past 4 years and I am satisfied with their fresh pie! I even love to have sneaky cheating late nights, when crave for a quick hunger rescue after class- makes me happy to catch them on time, to pick up a slice. Placed my order at 7 on a Saturday night and it was here by 7:30 - far less than the quoted 45-60 minutes Delivery.com gave me. Threw in an order for a mushroom slice. Tasty but nothing special. Typical New York pizza joint pizza...which as a native of Connecticut I pshaw because of New Haven pizza...I worship at the altar of Frank Pepe and like my crust charred in a coal fired oven. That said...staunch New York style pizza supporters probably wouldn't find complaint with it....but it doesn't hold a candle to Joe's in Manhattan. The personal pizza definitely needs a few toppings, if just plain, it's not that great. We also ordered a chicken parmesan hero. That was really disappointing! Threw out most of it. Pizza Chef has never disappointed me. Cecilio, (who may be the owner) is always on top of his game. The staff is always masked up when you go in to pick up, and I don't mean that their masks are on their chins and they simply pull them up because there's a customer in the place. They seriously care about their health and the health of their customers. The same applies to their delivery guys who are always speedy and pleasant. Pizza Chef's sauce is absolutely delicious! You can taste the Romano cheese which isn't at all overpowering. I've been telling them that they should consider selling it since before COVID and I'm hoping they'll do so at some point in the future. Their pizza is good! The crust is a bit thicker than what I personally prefer but, the sauce to cheese ratio is just right and it's always a good crispy slice. Their Spinach Roll and Chicken Parm are good as well. Missing toppings after a 45 min wait time for cooking. I called to see if they would offer a credit for the lateness and for their mistake. Credited topping failure. No management on staff, and team not qualified. You are best off getting your pizza someplace else. You will NOT be happy here. Too many other reputable Pizza shops to be bothered with these guys. My wife and I wondered into this pizzeria one night after we moved to the neighborhood and had the regular slice...which was good but we saw on the menu a seafood pizza and vowed to try it. It. Was. Delicious!!! Since then we always order a small pie when we are having a party or just when we feel like pizza with wine. It's a little pricier than the other options but totally worth it. The guys that work here are good people. I know that some of the customers aren't the nicest or easiest to deal with but they usually keep their composure and are overall nice. My favorite is the lasagna pizza; it is a heavy pie but the meat, ricotta and sauce work great together. I was a bit weary before trying it but on the recommendation of a friend I gave it a try and now I'm a believer. I stopped in here for dinner while touring Riverdale. I had a slice of chicken parmesan pizza and a slice of spinach pizza. Both slices were great but the chicken parmesan really stood out. It seems they know this as they had an entire pizza of it ready to be sold slice by slice. This is my local pizza shop where it's the only place I can order food late (in Riverdale terms), or over the weekend when I don't want to cook. I would just order a large with toppings and it lasts me at least 2-3 meals. Although I don't particularly like the New York style pizza - the thin large slices (I prefer Chicago deep dish), I have to say that they make a decent pie. They are also really, and I mean REALLY, generous on toppings. Once I got a vegitarian large with additional pepperoni, and there was too much topping that I had to eat half of the toppings before eating the slices. Oh and if you order a certain amount, they add in a free salad, garlic bread, etc - depending on how much you ordered. Three stars for pizza itself. I really love the food here! Every time I'm running errands on Johnson Ave I stop in there and get a slice with broccoli & mushrooms. The pile the slice up with lots of toppings, put extra cheese & sauce on top of that then bake it again. Lots of places just throw a few toppings on and they fall right off. Also they season the veggies in a very different way that is delicious! Last night I got home late and ordered the lasagna for the first time. Wow! Huge portion, incredible sauce & light thin pasta. Plenty for lunch today! I would not recommend trying to eat in the restaurant, at least not in the afternoon. It's always filled with out of control kids screaming and jumping all over the place. I usually place my order then leave to finish errands instead of waiting for it. It's seriously intolerable to be in there. It's all about the food tho. Simply loved everything about the food from here seasoned well and still good the next day. They remind me of my favorite pizza place on 86st called Roma's, I ordered delivery to a friends house since I was sleeping over. I arrived almost 2hrs after my food arrived and it was still piping hot which is excellent. They must be under new management because the man running the show during the day is rude as hell. Obviously they don't need my business but I have a car and can drive to Westchester, the City or Queens and get really great pizza. Be aware that they add a 4% surcharge to your bill if you use a debit card. The NYS Consumer Protection Agency states that if they are adding an additional fee, it must be accompanied by Clear Disclosure at the advertised street signage or prominent placement in the retail location, otherwise they are breaking the law under which their license is overseen. The surcharge is only legal when a credit card is used to pay the bill. If you do not see the signage it any disclosure as to the surcharge on a debit transaction, you have the right to file a complaint with the agency. Be sure to ask if they are adding the surcharge when you pay with your debit card. If they say yes, ask them where is the signage/disclosure that states this. If they give you pushback, ask for a receipt that shows the surcharge was added to your bill. If the receipt doesn't display the extra charge,hold on to the receipt and file a complaint with The NYS Consumer Protection Agency. The agency will pay them a visit and if they're skirting the law, they will be in violation and be hit with a fine or if this is a recurring situation, they could lose their license to do business. read more

My weekly take away is a slice of white, a slice of mushroom. Crust is chewy and just crunchy enough, save is tasty, and cheese has just the right amount of salt. The pasta dishes are standard and delicious. The huge baked ziti with ricotta will last you two days... add in meatballs and it's three days. It's not some trendy brick-oven joint, no master pizziola here. Just some dudes who have been making pizza for a long time... consistent, quality pizza, pasta and rolls. The only issue I have with this place is that it's a popular hangout with students, who sometimes get very rowdy, both inside and outside, in the mid-afternoon and someone in the evening.
