    Wings

Pizza was greasy and did not taste fresh I got my pizza while customers walked in and out, I asked the ladies if my wings were almost done and they thought they had already served them to me I ended up waiting 50 minutes for my wings just for them to be trash.

It's the same dishes you've had at a dozen other Mexican restaurants around the city. Nothing on the plate made anyone at our table lean over and say "Okay, you have to try this." For what they're charging, you'd hope for at least one moment like that. Didn't happen. The one thing that genuinely bothered us was that we told them ahead of time that someone in our group had a spice allergy. Not a preference, an allergy. We were pretty explicit about it. It didn't seem to matter much. That's the kind of thing a restaurant really needs to get right, and they dropped the ball. Service was actually okay, though, to be fair. No real issues there, the staff were friendly and attentive enough. So there's that. But honestly? Houston has too many good options to settle for an overpriced average. If you're craving Mexican food, there are places in this city that will blow your mind for the same money or less. This just isn't one of them. We might swing by again someday if we're nearby, but we're not going out of our way.

Total was $51.47. All I can say is..where is the salt?! Seasonings?! Love?! I regretted going in the moment I walked in, but I ordered anyways. The meatloaf was probably the best out of the 3 plates, and even that wasn't good. The roast beef was not good. Let me tell you, you can get a cheap cut of meat and still make it taste good. But this cut was cheap and not prepared correctly. It was a sad sad lunch. I got side eyes the whole time at lunch because I chose the lunch spot. The pies were good. Out of the lemon meringue and cheesecake, I preferred the lemon meringue. I would be surprised if they made the pies in house, because if they do, great for them. They should just be a bakery. Regardless, I will never..NEVER return. I'm sorry to whoever's mamas or grandmamas in the kitchen, but they need to retire. I said what I said.

As I was ordering and asking questions, I found it to be a little hard . It was a language barrier. The steam table consisted of spaghetti, meatloaf, baked chicken, dressing, chicken fried chicken and steak, green beans and corn. They had deviled eggs that looked good. I like my deviled eggs sweet so I asked her were they sweet and she keep repeating no no deviled eggs So I passed on them. I also got a wheat roll which was so old and hard when I pieced off of it , it crumbled The food was actually ok but not hot at all. The meatloaf plate was$11.50 and the spaghetti was $8.50. The decor was super old and brought back memories of my family going to eat after church on Sunday in the 80s. Would i go back here again I probably would. I'd just try something different.

You do check in and put a card down, and they give you a tasting card that lets you sample different wines at various pour amounts. Such a cool and fun concept! We arrived during happy hour (I believe it's from 4-7 PM), which was perfect. The space itself is super cute and cozy. When we first arrived it wasn't too crowded, but it definitely started filling up closer to 6 PM. For happy hour, we ordered several appetizers to share between the three of us: shrimp, Brussels sprouts, and truffle fries -- all were SO good. Later, we ordered two steaks with fries, which were amazing and came with a buttery sauce that really took them to the next level. I also ordered the lemon pepper buffalo wings, and those were absolutely delicious as well. The service was great, especially considering there were only about two or three people working. Everyone was attentive and friendly. If you're a wine lover, you'll enjoy the wine selection. I'm a big Pinot Noir fan, and while there was only one Pinot option, I loved it so much that I kept going back to it. The wine tasting option made it easy to try a few others before deciding. Prices were very reasonable -- not overpriced at all -- especially for the quality of the food and experience. We didn't make reservations and were able to walk right in, though I'd recommend reservations if you're going later in the evening since it does get packed. Roots is located right across from some apartments in the EADO area and made for the perfect girls' night out. Great food, great service, great vibes. I would absolutely recommend this place and will definitely be back!

I took two others with me and we decided to try some new dishes and introduce them to some of my favorites. - Jumbo Lump Crab with Coconut Sauce (5/5): Oh my god. I was upset for a bit that they rotated out the Tiger Prawns, but I've found a new gem in their new seasonal dish. The perfect amount of crab, a sauce that you could mop up with rice (and I did, with rice from the curry), amazing little bites to enjoy it with. You've got to try this. - Pad See Ew (5/5): Still a must-get every time. Still fantastic texture and balance. - Garlic Chive Pancakes (4.5/5): Still a great way to start the meal but the texture is a little more dry and not as chewy as I remember? - Laab Pork (4/5): Still a fantastic mid-meal blend of vegetables and meat. As always, I wish they gave more cucumber. - Red Curry with Pumpkin and Chicken (4/5): I honestly thought this was pretty good but I was overpowered but how great the jumbo crab was that this felt a little weaker in comparison. It's still got great spice alone and nice that it comes with rice to be very filling. - Coconut Shallot Ice Cream (???/5) So.. I'd call this an experience LOL. Three small scoops of what seem like dairy free ice cream, with caviar and crispy shallots. It's as weird as it sounds. Reminds me of a salted caramel dish but.. more salty, more coconut than sweet. It's very weird. I wouldn't order it again, but if I were served this as an eclectic tasting menu dessert I would let the chef cook. Overall Street to Kitchen still sits in my top restaurants in Houston and a must-try Thai spot.

Super interesting dish! - Lump crab: lovedd this dish. Lot of coconut and lime notes in the sauce, this was my favorite. - Crispy pork: super crispy and tender. Huge fan of this dish. I actually like dipping this in the cream sauce from the mushroom dish. - Fried mushroom: was good but a bit heavy. - Tuna tartare: very spicy! I wasn't a big fan personally.
